I found this on the RS newsgroup and thought I'd forward it on since I
have seen several posts asking about his company, etc.
This is very sad. We need to really pray for his family.

Curtis was one of my closest friends. We started our stamp companies at around
the same time, and helped each other get established. Curtis died of unknown
causes Oct. 31, 1997, in his sleep. His stamp company is closed.
PLEASE do not write to his business address, or order stamps -- his parents are
utterly destroyed by his death and reminding them that he is gone, and
requiring them to write back to you, can only cause them pain. We all miss him
terribly.

I don't know what 'libel' means, it's too early to wrack the brain for
that, but it sounds to me like this MV has jipped people before and had
complaints. Thus, saying you're 'harrassing' him/her so that he/she
won't have to become responsible for the chincing that they're doing.
My two cents worth.

Okay, fill in the blank. I know it's difficult because there are so many
wonderful vendors already selling almost every line there is. I'm
curious though. Is there one that we need more of. Right now I'm only
selling PSX and I'd like to take on another line of stamps. Tell me what
you want and I'll go get it and put together a special offer.
Thanks!

I don't think I'd normally choose to deal with a vendor who felt it
necessary to wait for my check to clear, but who didn't think it was
necessary to pre-warn me of the delay.
I can readily deal with being offered a choice of delayed shipment when
payment is by personal check *or* shipment the next business day if
payment is by postal money order (of the country of the vendor).
BTW, I recently learned to turn on the desk light and put on my glasses
before trying to read my credit card number over the phone. I feel so
disorganized/embarrassed because of the extra effort the vendor had to
make to get the *correct* data. I'll *always* be more careful in the
future.

Subject: Re: RS: Ad:Accessories/Goodies Discounted
I'd replied to Tonya's previous Ad which included rubber stamps and I'm
plumb tickled with the effort she made on my order ... I was
disorganized and she was patient and diligent.
I'd seen "Magenta rabbit stamp" and couldn't resist, and there was
another rabbit stamp (also sight unseen) ... and then to her web site
http://members.aol.com/Tonyascraf/tonyascr.html
to see what else I'd want, as long there was $3.00 shipping anyways, and
I found a fan-holding Victorian lady with her hair in a bun on top of
her head, just what I felt I needed.
Whatta mail day today! The box was full, but *no* lucky tickets for
packages. The surprise was having my DH drop by to see me at work this
evening and tell me that he was leaving two (2!) packages in the car for
me. I had to wait for "break" to find out what they were. One was an
ounce of "roving" from a spinners' exchange and the other was the order
from Buffalo Stampede.
I didn't even know how to open the box. I pried it from the top. Oh the
wonderfullness of the H U G E realistic rabbit stamp ... ok I had full
value for the order right *there*. :-) And there were the two other
stamps I'd ordered (really neat and perfect, respectively) and she'd
tucked in *another* bunny UM. Hmmmm is she pyschic? :-)
I'll be reading Tonya's Ad's carefully, having good cause to appreciate
the quality of her merchandise and the promptness and courtesy of her
service.

Hello to all of the Great Vendors on the List.
A very thoughtful list member (Inger-Lise) answered my inquiry about a
"must have" RS supply which was
KAI Scissors. She said that she had purchased them from one of the List
vendors about a year or so ago and
couldn't remember the price.
If any of you sell this product - could you e-mail me back with the Price?
There may be other folks interested also if they knew the product was
available. Inger-Lise said they were GREAT scissors that would cut through
rubber like "butter".
Sounds like every stamper should have a pair of these!

From: "Dawn M" <Kraftykitty@Dynasty.Net>
Subject: Re: RS: libel?/overuse of abuse.com
I just read the below note and it got me all stirred
up again. First off, I am sorry to hear that you had
problems with a vendor like this, I have been lucky
and only gotten the best of treatment from our great
vendors.
Now about the *advising your server that you are
sending harrassing mail*. I was just kicked off of my
former ISP. Someone had reported me for allegedly
spamming!!!! I had never done any kind of spamming
the only email I send is to the lists that I am on: RS, PAFUN,
and rubbertown..and very little email as a matter of fact.
But someone apparently didn't like one or more of my posts
and sent 20 complaints to my former ISP! I had done nothing
wrong. What's so terrible is that I had been unable to send
mail from that account for several days, only receive, I got this
nasty note from my ISP saying that I had been spamming
and that one more complaint and I was out of there. I had to
copy/paste that note to another acct to send to my server asking
what I had done wrong, they didn't get back to me. Then 2 wks
later I got a message at sign on that I was to call them. I did and
was informed that my acct had been terminated due to spamming!
I asked to see proof, and they said that I could not see proof...they
had to protect the people who complained, I said I understand that
I just want to see what *I* had allegedly sent, they wouldn't show me...
got very rude with me and hung up.
My point to all of this is *does
anyone but me think that this is unfair?* I don't feel like we should
be kicked off like this with no proof of what we have allegedly done.
Now to see that we can't even send honest, innocent emails to a
vendor with a simple complaint without being threatened to be
reported for *abuse* I am kind of ticked. I don't feel anyone should
be reported unless they are sending *nasty* email, or advertisements
such as the *fast money* ones to people who don't want it. I am
on 3 lists, and do not post unwanted garbage, only the sharing of
info and such. I do not see how anything I had done could be considered
abusive, especially since I couldn't have done it due to email problems
which the ISP knew about cause I was on the phone with them for 3 wks
regarding this!!! They refused to listen to reason tho, and I lost 4 months
credit when I was kicked off there. Uh, sorry, didn't mean to turn this
into a personal gripe session ; ) Just wanted to make some people think
that they shouldn't use *abuse@XXXX.com* so loosely. Please only
use it when you are getting truly BAD emails, not just because you are
mad at the person. Learn to delete what you don't want to read and don't
turn poor innocent people in just to get your *revenge* against them.

No, you are confusing the line of succession, which kicks in if the
President dies or is incapacitated, with what happens if the VP succeeds
the president.
The first step is the same in both. The VP becomes President. Now there
is no VP -- in which case the now President (former VP) appoints his/her
own choice. So if Clinton for whatever reason left office (died, got hit
by a bus and was alive but couldn not govern, resigned, was impeached)
Gore becomes president. He can appoint whoever he wants as his VP.
Now suppose Clinton resgined and Gore, in shock at the news, didn't look
while crossing the street and got hit by a bus. No Prez, no VP. THAT's
when the Speaker of the House (currently Newt) would succeed. And he in
turn would be able to appoint a VP of his choice.
Clear as mud, right?

Subject: RS: Secret valentine scavenger hunt---I picked a package---LONG
Well actually I had my DH do it---felt it wasn't right for me to pick it for
myself so I stacked them up (16 of them arrived in 3 days) and told him to
pick one out for me. So he did----and he picked the one from MICHELE
MCNamara----
Oh Michele, I love everything in this package---and told DH he did GOOOOOOOD!
LOL
First of all there was a baggie filled with some chocolates, and hersheys
kisses wrapped in red and silver foils.
Next was a jar of PSX red ep. AND a small jar of (Am I right in assuming?)
Art institute glitter in a deep red. Gorgeous color. And AIG is THE best!
And 2 stamps---one is a PSX natural floral heart and the other is a cute
little cube---a heart corner stampw/scrolls on either side. Sweet
her pin is done on a piece if plum colored mulberry paper---different from any
I have ever seen---it has holes in it----very unusual On that she has put a
piece of white CS on which she has embossed in gold, an elongated heart
consisiting of scrolls and flowers and all tied together with a bow. Very
pretty, Michele.
Next is a colorbox cats eye pigmet brush pad in scarlet. I didn't have this
color---love it!---
then there are 8 halfsheets of lightweigt paper--3 red and 2 dusty rose and 3
purple
and 2 pieces of organdy ribbon one red and the other a bluish color edged in
red---mmmmm love organdy ribbon!!!
then there is a sheet of dusty rose CS--with the columns---pretty and a pastel
pinkish sheet of CS.
and 2 sheets of background paper---one in a kind of magenta color and the
other is a purple--they are kind of printed in patterns
AND 2 sheets of mulberry paper---one is that neat "HOLEY" stuff she used for
the pin she made and the other is a soft lavender color.
ooooo just found a 1/2 sheet of homemade paper--looks like flower petals in
here---oooo--this is lovely---very textured on the front side
For her poem--Michele prinited a poem called IMAGINE. And stamped all kinds
of tiny hearts and the word LOVE around the border. She used a pink marbled
CS to print it on and then placed that atop a piece of hunter green mulberry
paper. She tied a pretty hunter green ribbon on top. How very pretty---and I
love the poem. Something to think about!
For a magnet she made a beautiful small envie from wallpaper and put a magnet
stip on the back..
Her bookmark is made on white cardstock and she softly edged it with a
marker--and stmaped and embossed in pint some cute heart graphics- Onthe
bottom it says Friends are gifts of the heart.
there is also a sheet of stamped heart inages and word sayings for Valentine's
day.
And now for the cards Michele sent---there are 4 of them. First is the
valentine she made specially for me===using pink marbled cardstock she corner
edged the card and cut the bottom front with victorian fiscars. She placed a
piece of burgundy paper on top of that---don't know what it is called but it
is gorgeous! And a piece of white mulberry paper on top of that and then on
dusty mauve paper she embossed in gold the heart she gave me the stamp for.
BEAUTIFUL!~
and she made an envie to put it in from puink marbled wallpaper. Next is a
card made again with the pick marbled CS---only this time she layered purple,
then dusty lavender and then soft pink on which she stamped an adorable garden
angel. She colored her in with I beleive markers and on the front of her
apron she has stamped 3 flowers--and used tiny colored buttons for the
flowers---what a clever idea! In the upper left corner she had glued a few
whisps of bright pick crinckled paper and a tiny dried rose bud. I really
like this card Michele. Clever ideas!
Next is an iveory colored card---background stamped with vine like leafy
branches---and another narrw strip of the same cardstock edged with a green
marker and a rose and buds stamped and embossed ingold and then colored with
markers. HOw simple and yet lovely this is. Inside she stamped Friends are
flowers that never fave with a rainbow pad.
and last buyt certainly not least---this card uses gold colored
cardstock---and Michele used a piece of hunter green corrugated paper which
she tore into a rectangle almosg the length of the card, then stamped and
black embossed a tall spray of sunflowers on to a narrow strip of ivory
cardstock and colred them in. She set the whole thing off with a bow made
from a strip of red cut paper twist. How very pretty. And she even sent some
of the green corrugated paper and the red paper twist strips along for me to
try it.
Well Michele you really outdid yourself here with this package and I am soooo
glad DH picked yours for me. I will think of you each time i play with these
goodies. And I am stealing some of your ideas from the cards you sent, to.
Hope you don't mind. Thank you for a wonderful valentine scavenger hunt
surprise! BArb

I think this only occurs when the Pres and Vice Pres can not serve. If Gore
becomse Pres than he can choose anyone he wants as his VP. Case in point
Gerald Ford choose Nelson Rockefeller as his VP when he took over for Nixon
when he resigned.
