I have some really large unmounted stamps that I have trouble stamping with.
It doesn't matter if they are on halos, acrylic, wood - I never seem to get a
good clean impression, even when I brayer the ink on the stamp. I recently
bought a VERY LARGE stamp that is a box template unmounted and then went to a
plastics store and had an acrylic piece cut to put the stamp on. Well, this
is a massive PIB. So, here's my idea/question.
At work I recently picked up some rolls that look like "paper towel"
cardboard thingy only they are about 4 inches in diameter and they are rigid,
not cardboard. The stuff they're made out of is about 1/2" thick. I was
thinking if I put the loopy stuff on the entire cylinder and attached the
other stuff (or vice versa) to the unmounted stamp and stuck them together -
then I could rooooooooooooooooooll the stamp on the pad (or brayer the ink
on, or whatever) and then roooooooooooooooll the stamp on the paper - I might
be able to get a better image. I do terrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrible with large
stamps and thought this might be a good idea.
Jim Stephens did it with foam rubber cylinders but I didn't have any luck I
think because the foam was too soft. What do you think? If you think it's a
good idea, tell me how your loopy stuff is sold, by the square? by the inch?
I'm going to be at the Carson convention in March so I can tell you how it
worked out.
Thanks for any more info you can give me on this. Antpam >>

Subject: RS: Grapevine Convention Details...
Okay, here is what I know about this thing... please feel free to add
anything I have missed!!
Friday night: Dinner at Jason's Deli for all who arrive early enuff...
time? Donna...you would know....
Saturday: Convention opens at 10 a.m. People arrive early to trade
pins, and to be one of the first through the door (they gave free pins
last year to the early arrivers). All RS Listee's are to be wearing
yellow ribbons on their shoulders (right or left shoulder... or does it
matter??)
Meeting of RS Listee's at Evolving Images Booth -- 12:00 Noon!!!
Meeting again around 3 to 3:30 pm at the Appalachian Art Stamps booth....
Dinner Saturday night: We will definately go out... no special place
planned... Last year we all agreed to meet at the front of the
convention center at 5:15 or so and then decided upon a place. This is
probably what we will do this year also!!
There will also be a group of us going to Stamp DeVille and Paper Routes
on Saturday night, as each is staying open LATE just for us
conventioneers!!
Sunday: No plans yet for Breakfast... if we did it would have to be early
(8:30 or so) as the convention opens at 10:00 am.
The Clear Lake Area Stamper's Society (CLASS) will be there (that's Me,
geevee, StampMonster, and others) and we will be wearing t-shirts we
stamped up that say CLASS on the front, and some of us have our nicknames
on them too (Mine says "STAMPALOT SUE" in large letters on the back!!)
Look for us!!!
Can't wait to see everybody!! ▄ <------- new smiley face!

get some fine grit sandpaper (from the hardware store) and sand one side
before you stamp on it. I like to sand in both directions, then in circles.
Also, I found that the Colorbox Crafter's Ink works best for stamping. Good

It's awful, what French Canadians do to the language...they use "arret"
for Stop signs, when "stop" is used in FRANCE! While "arreter" does mean
to stop, it's more like "arrest"...go figure!
What's worse is "je vais parquer le char"...(Joual...the French canadian
slang for "I'm going to park the car"). It grates on the ear...!
Yuck...give me Parisien French anytime! I don't say "bienvenue" anymore
when someone says "merci" - I say, "Je vous en prie." It's more
beautiful, and very FRANCAIS...!
End of French lesson for the day!
Hugs,
Lissa

Subject: RS: Anniversary cards-Thank You-descriptions.
Thanks for all of the ideas and cards that I've received to celebrate my 16th
Anniversary- January 30. I appreciate all of them and have sent snail mail in
return.
Susan Benedict used shades of mauve for her card. She gold embossed Happy
Anniversary on a lighter shade card and cut it out with small scallops
scissors. This was attached in the center of a medium shade cardstock. Four
roses were black embossed on a deeper shade card and cut out. The roses were
mounted on the corners of the saying.
Stargazer generously sent several ideas for cards. She embossed a pink heart
on red cardstock, cut it out and mounted it over a piece of lace. The lace was
attached to a mauve card.-- Another card had a pair of lovebirds embossed in
gold on a white card, the area around the birds was colored in with markers
and resembles a stained glass look.-- On a blue card she embossed in gold four
roses in each corner of the card. A large rose was gold embossed on red
cardstock, cut out and mounted in the center of the blue card.
Ant Judy used purple cardstock. She stamped and colored in a cherub painting a
flower on a white card. This was cut out in an oval with deckle scissors and
attached to the purple card. She used a lace shell corner punch and punched
out the two front corners of the purple card. Gold metallic rub-ons were
rubbed over the front of the card. Inside the saying was embossed in gold.
Sandra Haycock stamped and colored a dancing couple on white paper. This was
cut out in a rectangle and attached to a blue card.
Carole Mork's card arrived in a clear envelope. She embossed in black a
Precious Moments couple eating ice cream. This was cut out and attached to two
layers of light/dark mulberry paper. This was attached to the front of a
confetti cardstock. The side edge of the card was cut with Victorian scissors
and she used wonder/miracle tape and glitter for the edge of the card that
shows beneath the cut out edge.

Very good, AJ! What gets me about the whole thing is the absolute glee of the
Prez' detractors. It was like that for some when Nixon resigned, and when
Kennedy was shot....I don't understand what there is to be gleeful about. It
just seems so sad, each time, to me, and not the least because I see, once
again, that folks can be so stupid and hateful. BTW, you can send that e-mail
to president@whitehouse.gov and I'll bet the staffer who reads it will get a
lovely boost to his/her day.
I wonder if isn't time for a woman president? At least you could expect her to
keep her pants zipped.....
Hugs, ex fast posto (Nan)

From: Brad and Sheila Burnett <burnetts@fuse.net>
Subject: RS:Sheila's WONDERFUL SS!!!
WOW!! I got my Secret Stamper package and it is wonderful. I have been so
spoiled, I can't believe it! I keep telling my DH what a great package it
is! Thank you so very much. First were two handmade crocheted pot
holders/hot pads. I can't believe someone actually parted with these to
send to a stranger! I keep thinking about all the work that went into
them! That was truly thoughtful of you! I love them! The whole box was
wrapped in Valentine Heart candy tissue paper and included:
A card that looks like the Colorbox pie shaped pieces embossed in random
fashion-neat idea for using them that way.
2 bundles of raffia-I have always wanted this but never bought for myself.
Various colored holographic, sparkly sticker paper.
Beautiful Denami type ribbons-I love the striped one with all different colors!
Great sample of Sheryl Davis Postiods! Yippee!
Wild Fiber-I haven't tried this yet!! Can't wait.
An intriguing glitter glue stick-not sure yet what to do with this?!
Some Sealing wax-I haven't used that since I was about 10 yrs. old!
A red velvet ribbon-almost too pretty to use.
Great wallpaper envelopes-perfect for some bills.
Package of background papers that will be great for layering.
And, one of my favorite companies-Stampin'Up!-FIVE mounted stamps that are
too cute! I don't have any already and they are perfect!
I can't wait to find out who you are so I can give you a real thank you!
And I even get secret emails from a go-between ((or it could really be you
if you're sneaky because the address is only sss49???? Whichever, I love
everything you sent!! I hope you are having as much fun as I am with this
SS round! I can't wait till February now:)
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Subject: RS: Budding artist at 4 years (cute)
- --------------------
My niece is going to be four tomorrow. My MIL sent her a birthday card (it
had flowers and birds on it, etc--store bought) and of course she already
opened it. Later my sister found her tearing it up into pieces. When she
asked Rebecca why she was tearing it, she replied, "I'm making a collage!"
Then she asked if she could rip up all of the cards she gets and make a big
birthday collage. Isn't that cute (and not because I'm prejudiced). For
one of her gifts I sent her a little Koosh ball attached to a tube of
self-inking stamps. She's going to include the stamps in her masterpiece.
