From: Michele Pryor <rubrheart@thegrid.net>
Subject: RS: A new Year's poem
I AM THE NEW YEAR:
I am the new year.
I am an unspoiled page in your book of time.
I am your next chance at the art of living.
I am your opportunity to practice what you have learned
during the last 12 months about life.
All that you sought the past year and failed to find is hidden in me;
I am waiting for you to search if out again and try with more determination.
All the good that you tried to do for others and did not achieve last year is
mine to grant -- providing you have fewer selfish and conflicting desires.
In me lies the potential of all that you dreamed but did not dare to do,
all that you hoped but did not perform, all you prayed for but did not
experience.
These dreams slumber lightly,
waiting to be awakened by the touch of an enduring purpose.
I am your opportunity to renew your allegiance to Christ who said, "Behold,
I make all things new." (Rev. 21:5).

From: Rubberdz <Rubberdz@aol.com>
Subject: RS: MERMAID SWAP Rec'd!
What a treat! Half-naked mermaids while I'm shivering at the keyboard! I
loved them all... here's what I got:
Lisa Mallette (our very generous hostess... thank you!)... Holographic paper
as a background and then her scene stamped on cardstock on top of it.... PSX
Mermaids, Undersea stamps & fish ... and all of this painted with Pearlescent
acrylics... really cool pearly/metalllic look... inside is the saying: "When
you have a friend, you have everything." This is an eye-catching card!
Lisa also sent her Mermaid Christmas Card... what a winner! Not sure of the
stamps... but it's a mermaid on the beach in front of a palm tree strung with
lights! And the mermaid is wearing a red felt Santa's hat complete with a
miniature jingle bell hanging on the end! And there are real bits of shells
on the "sand"... I loved this!
Staci (LeStamin@aol.com) Did a cool brayered background on her card that
really gives an underwater feel. She stamped coral stamps and all kinds of
fishies to keep her PSX Mermaid company. The Mermaid is beautifully
embossed... as are a few of the fish and here and there. I love the different
colors in the tail and the hair really sparkles! Thanks Staci!
Violetnut's mermaid is embossed in gold and colored softly. She cut her out
with scallop edged scissors and put her on dots above a pretty piece of soft
blue mulberry...this on top of a sandy colored card stock... It's a very
delicate looking card... and the mermaid (not sure which one this is... I've
seen her somewhere) is sitting on a rock kind of gazing toward the sky.....
sigh..... Thanks Violetnut!
Hindy (HAKlatsky@aol.com) did a really fun card that looks like it was a LOT
of work!!! Her mermaid is sitting in a tub filled with bubbles. There is
some serious masking here... a towel bar with towels, a rug on the floor,
ladybug wallpaper, a checkered floor... so many details!! Open the card and
it says "Splish Splash I'm taking a Bath!".... This is the kind of card you
run your finger over... cause you can't believe all the depth and layers!
Thanks Hindy!!
Artsy used some unusual papers and a fish charm on her card. And I think she
used that beedz stuff I've heard about but never seen... is that what it is???
This looks really cool...She used the Laurel Burch Sea Goddess - embossed and
hand colored - and cut out with fancy scissors. Another image of a shell... a
really fancy conch - this embossed and cut out. These two images and the fish
charm are layered over a piece of 3-d paper and all of these are on black
cardstock. I really like the effect of this... I'm partial to collages... and
I think I might just have some of that 3-D paper somewhere... hmmm.... Thanks
Artsy!
And thanks again to Lisa for hosting... I've gotten some inspiration from
these... and some hopelessness too... cause I know I'll never be able to "do
it all!!!"... but what fun I'll have trying!

HALOS is a given; it's certainly made a difference in the amount of stamps
I've bought, plus some of the stamps I like are only sold as UMs. What do
you mean that you have to buy mounted to get what you want? Do youhave

Wow! You must be their MVP (most valuable purchaser)! <VBG>
One of the stamp stores I go to sent a 20% off coupon, with an extra 10%
off if you bring in food for their food or animal drive. So I considered
the 30% off a gift and bought myself a stamp. And I had a gift certificate

Teresa, you are so kind to send me a Christmas package! It was like
getting two SSS! Yours were the first ones I opened on Christmas
morning! My family received their collectable cards in their stocking,
so I told DH, "I can't wait any more, so while you're going through your
cards, I'm opening my SSS gifts!" Omigosh! Did you make the quilted
wall hanging? It's beautiful and will look nice by my "kitchen" desk.
Every year when I get out the Christmas "stuff" I will think of you. I
love the burner plate covers and of course with Teddy Bears! How did
you know I like teddies, too? Also a cute teddy chip clip and I didn't
have any. What a great idea! An adorable red mouse door knob
decoration! A coffee mug from Avon with a rose on it. I don't have
anything like that. Most of my mugs are for Christmas, so this is nice
and I love florals! Wow, a BIG sunflower stamp in a pot! I can't wait
to try this one out! It seems as if you and me have lots in common! We
like the same things. A beautiful poreclain black ginger jar with a
cameo on the front! The heart pin you sent is very special with the
sentiment "for a special friend" I can carry a part of you wherever I
go now. :) That teddy bear gave my little Christmas teddy a mommy or
daddy! Now, it's lonely no more! :) Last and most certainly not least
and my favorite is the teddy ornament you painted for my Christmas tree.
Your package was very special to me, you shouldn't have, but I'm glad
you did! :) THANK YOU, dear friend for your kindness! Merry Christmas
and Happy New Year!
Hugs!

Consider yourself reassured, Gloria. Paper Palette is *definitely* legit,
and they have *terrific* papers! Just know that it will take approx. 3-4
wks for you to receive your order, but it's worth the wait! Purrrrr.....

Subject: RS: Wallpaper and other papers
Hi there. Hope everyone had a nice Christmas (although I read where some
didn't). For those of you who don't have access to wallpapers, I have
picked up some papers that are so gorgeous it is hard to believe anyone
can be so creative. I found one group that looks like the DeNami stamps.
I am making up grab bags of wallpaper, papers, foam core and matte
boards. There will be a good variety and if there is a specific type of
scene or background, such as flowers, plain colors, stripes, etc. let me
know and I will make it specially with that design. This will be put
into a mail pack as full as I can get it and sent priority. Total is
6.00 for all. Address is Stampz 'N Stuff, 628 Washington Ave., Ocean
Springs, MS 39564.

Subject: RS: Other Asian swap Participant please email me
I am resending this message because I have only heard from Jaimee Givens.
I need snail mail addy's for the participants that only received 4 cards
besides mine. I didn't expect the last package to come in because of the
Canadian Postal
Strike. I will send these on to you at no extra postage to you. I sent
kimono and
instructions, paper strip and some received fan stickers as my entry.
The package would have just sat here until we arrived back from Mexico.
But we
are here, and I would like to mail these out. The reason you will have
6 all together is because I sent the cards I received to Canada as I
wanted her to have
a chance to participate.
Well any way please take a few moments to let me know.
Thanks Rhonda

BTW, UPS wouldn't pick up anything Christmas Eve except overnight mail
nor would they today and they weren't making any deliveries today so
anything I said would ship Christmas Eve or today didn't and won't go out

Just talked to my mother... they got another 8 inches of snow. She'd
sent each of the dogs a bag of jerky treats and yesterday, I'd opened
Lucy's and they all had some and while I was out last night, Spuds jumped
up on the kitchen counter and got another one out... I came home to
wrapping paper on the floor and an empty bag of Jerky Treats... that box
had sat on the counter all week long but once they'd seen me take a bag
of jerky treats out of it, they knnwe what was in there! The Flying
Wallendas have nothing on Spuds. When Crafty Owl was visiting me a month
ago, I went out into the garage and Elise and her husband were still down
the hall and when I came back in, Spuds was running right across the
kitchen counter.
