So take the good stuff and hang it way high up, then get another and hang
crappy paper(newpaper and construction) from it but rub the stuff with a
bit of catnip. If they're anything like my Mom's Casey, your fancy
papers will be all but forgotten. Just keep the broom handy.

Subject: RS: Re: RubberTown: Need Paper Storage Ideas
Kari,
What I do for storing paper is I have several paper file boxes
that take either legal or letter size folder, and then got the
folders that are like an envelop with out a top. They will hold
upto about an inch of paper. Then I have a 3 ring note book with
top loading sheet protectors, and a divider for each file box.
I take one sheet of each paper and put in the correct section of
the note book. When I use the paper up in the box, I move the
protector and the last sheet to the front, so I know that it is
a one of a kind, and not to think about using it for a swap or
a group of samples.
The File boxes keep the dust off the paper better than the
milk cartons did. I have about 7 or 8 boxes of paper, and still
never have the paper I want.

She is so successful selling her stamps that she closed her
store because it was taking too much time. I know this is
true, because I use one of the same suppliers, and two
different times when I stopped in at the suppliers place
I saw the pile of boxes going to her. She is busy.
But she makes very good stamps and very nice designs.
I think her catalog is now $11.00 plus shipping.

sun. Thank you Christi and thank you Robin. Have a great day.

A TRUE BURGLAR STORY
From a 1985 Mexican newspaper.
Yesterday a burglar died from a heart attack when he entered a home
in the pedregal area (Upper class zone in Mexico city). The owner of
the house, a middle age lady, was alone at the time. She said she
had just applied a beauty treatment of yogurt, avocado and cucumbers
when she heard noises in the house. Since she was alone, she became
terrorized when she realized that a stranger was in her home and she
tried to hide in her closet. However, as she closed the door, she
hit her nose with the door, which started to bleed. When the burglar
entered her room and opened the closet door, she started yelling.
Perhaps the sight of a person with a pale green face and bleeding
nose was too much for the burglar because he died instantly.

DON'T USE DYNAMITE
A burglar, needing money to pay his income taxes, decided to burgle
the safe in a store. On the safe door he was very pleased to find a
note reading: "Please don't use dynamite. The safe is not locked.
Just turn the knob."
He did so. Instantly a heavy sandbag fell on him, the entire
premises were floodlighted, and alarms started clanging. As the
police carried him out on a stretcher, he was heard moaning: "My
confidence in human nature has been rudely shaken."

CLERK HURLS SPAM, FOILS ROBBER WITH PANTIES ON HEAD
DENISON, Texas -- It must have been quite a scene. A bandit trying
to disguise himself by wearing a pair of women's panties over his
head was foiled in his attempt to rob a convenience by a
Spam-slinging clerk. Police said the bandit tried to rob the EZ Mart
store early Wednesday. He struck the woman clerk over the head with
something while she had her back to the bandit. The woman got back
up and began throwing cans of Spam at the bandit, who fled without
any loot. Police said the clerk was not seriously hurt, but she had
a knot on the back of her head and was sent home early because she
was "pretty shaken up" by the incident. Officers said the man was
wearing black sweat pants, tennis shoes, no shirt and the women's
panties when he fled from the store. "I've never heard of a robber
using women's panties to disguise himself," said Mike Eppler,
community relations officer for the Denison Police Department.
"There have been no reports of a robber using panties in a robbery
attempt in Denison. This is a new one."

Old folks are worth a fortune: With silver in their hair, gold in their
teeth, stones in their kidneys, lead in their feet and gas in their
stomachs.
I have become a lot more social with the passing of the years; some
might even call me a frivolous old gal. I'm seeing five gentlemen every
day.
As soon as I wake, Will Power helps me to get out of bed. Then I go to
see John. Then Charley Horse comes along, and when he is here, he takes
a lot of my time and attention. When he leaves, Arthur Ritis shows up
and stays the rest of the day. (He doesn't like to stay in one place
very long, so he takes me from joint to joint.)
After such a busy day, I'm really tired and glad to go to bed--with Ben
Gay. What alife!
P.S. The preacher came to call the other day. He said that at my age,
I should be thinking about the hereafter. I told him, "I do all the
time." No matter where I am, in the parlor, upstairs, in the kitchen or
down in the basement. I ask myself, "Now, what am I here after?"

Hi All, This is great, Sharon Wolstenholme sent me this great card all the
way from Australia to congratulate me on selling my first painting!!!
And it's a beauty too. On white cardstock, she layered a piece of black
paper and painted gold glitter around the edges. On top of it she layered
(with 3D tape) an image of a bear holding a palette with paint and brushes,
it's gold embossed and colered. It's such a cute bear, he even has a splash
of red paint on his face (This is me!! peolpe tend to stare at me and when
I look in the mirror there's usually some paint on my face, or charcoal) On
the corner of the black paper she glued a stamped, embossed and colored
palette. It's such a nice gesture and I'm really happy with it. My mother
was with me when I got the card and she was jealous :-). Thanks so much
Sharon, you really made my day.

Got my combo pack and loop tape today, and whoever's doing the counting
doesn't count very well, actually, they count great! from my point of
view. Great stuff, too, and it got here quick.

Just finished some Santa's for Christmas pin swap.
I used permanent ink for non-porous surfaces Black #3335 from COMOTION.
Dries within seconds without heat. I then colored with pencils, heated with
heat gun.
Every one perfect. You must get the inked stamp to shrink plastic quickly or
it will dry before you can stamp. Does require solvent stamp cleaner to
remove ink from stamp. Worth the trouble, no smears.

YOU WROTE:
Well, I ham having no luck at
setting the ink without the piece curling up. I am using hte heat tool...
maybe it's just too hot for this step of the project.
Not having any trouble shrinking the piece evenly, but I can't get this
stamping bit down. I'd been coloring with chalks and pencils, I definitely
prefer the chalks.

Hi, all!
I found this recipe the last time the Frango thread hit
the list and had me thinking, "What the heck is a Frango???"
Thought I'd share... Enjoy! :)

CHOCOLATE MINT FRANGO (TM) COOKIES
http://www.chocoholic.com
This recipe makes 50-60 cookies, so it can be cut in half.
2 C Margarine
4 C Powdered sugar
8 Squares unsweetened chocolate (melted)
8 Eggs
2 tsp Peppermint flavoring
1 T Vanilla
1 Box Vanilla Wafers 60 Cupcake liners
With electric mixer -- whip margarine, chocolate and sugar until fluffy.
Add whole eggs one at a time, beating well after each egg. Add vanilla and
peppermint flavoring.
Place the vanilla wafers on the bottom of the cupcake liners. (These can be
a layer of crushed wafers or one whole vanilla wafer per cup.) Fill with
chocolate mixture, then sprinkle more of the crushed wafers on top. Place
in freezer.

questions about some of the "wierdness" you see here, these are really,

I LOVE to make envelopes for sending out my cards.
Here's some ideas i have on making some... using Wallpaper (samples),
magazienes, calanders, paper bags, old music sheets, decorative printer
paper..
I also like to Decorate them with stamps too.... Any Other Ideas???

I use the rolls of clear contact paper. Cut them to the sizes you want,
then peel of the backing and stick it! I used some autumn paper table cloth
the last time, came out really neat, and the outside of the envy is vinyl
sorta.

A good source for envelope-making material is your old scenic calendars. I
just used the MU calender to make twelve lovely envelopes for sending
Christmas cards to out of town relatives who have not seen the campus. (And
right after that, Brice and Rowan came and lifted them to use for sending
baby pictures and announcements!!! Oh, well, at least they are going to
the same people I would have sent them to...) :-)

I use Scotch's Permanent Adhesive Glue Stick on all my envys (vinyl or
whatever) & have never had a problem. I love this stuff!
Doreen Rymell, Stampin' Crafter "Success is the absence of catastrophes"
- --------------------------------- see thru envy's... I only caught the tail
end of this thread, so forgive me if it's already been mentioned, but
Vu-Graphs, (overhead transparencies) available from office supply stores
make a nice rigid clear envelope. It's nice and stiff to protect delicate
artwork! I use double sided stickey tape to seal them.
You do have to use the self adhesive stamps tho. :) Recently I found
some tinted transparencies in blues, reds and greens. They give a really
neat hue to your artwork. Also, save those nice envelopes from the PO...
especially the big ones. That paper is acid free archival quality paper!
Makes great envelopes and "windows" for cards. Another neat clear source
for envelopes is the scrap bin at work. <GGG> I've got everyone trained
at the office to bring their rejects to me! I'm always using discarded
vellum plots and color printouts and maps etc... for "geek-a-lopes" as I
call them! LOL!

To make tissue paper envelopes you will need Reynolds Freezer Paper,
large blue carton in with the saran wraps, wax papers, etc. in your
grocery store.
Take a sheet of tissue paper and wad the thing up, wrinkle the daylights
out of it. Now smooth it out nicely, but you do want these wrinkles so
don't get too carried away.
Next, take a same size piece of Reynolds Freezer wrap and place it wax side
to the back of the tissue paper. Iron, on the freezer paper, no steam,
medium high setting. Remember the waxy side of the freezer paper goes
against the wrong side of the tissue. The paper when heated, fuses to the
tissue. Then you have one nice sheet of paper. You can make envys from
it, or use it for wrapping paper, backing on cards, etc.
Napkins, paper tablecloths, fabric, text weight paper, speciality
papers, all work well with this technique.

I recently read a post about someone (I'm sorry, but I don't remember
who) bonding aluminum foil to freezer paper. Curiosity got the best
of me and I gave it a shot tonite. What a beautiful effect! Since I
had the iron and plastic wrap already out (I don't use freezer paper,
but plastic wrap and cheap butcher paper) I decided to do some more
tissue paper.
I got iron happy and started searching for other things I could bond to the
butcher paper. I cut strips of a deep purple, wide grosgrain (sp?) ribbon
and bonded them to the paper. There were narrow places between each strip
that weren't covered, so I used a glitter pen to make stripes between the
ribbon strips...nice!
Then I found some fairly large scraps of satin fabric that I bonded. It
took quite a bit more heat to get it to stick, but worked great. Stamped
with fabric ink, these will make beautiful envelopes. I thought a gingham
fabric on brown paper would look good for those of you who go for that cute
country look.
Omigosh...I came out of lurkdom for this!
Shannon Green...who doesn't have a nickname because that requires
making a decision, and I'm incapable of doing so. :)

Instead of using shrink plastic for your template, get the quilt template
making supplies. It is around a dollar for a big sheet and it is a frost
color. It is also bigger than 8 1/2 x 11.

I found some wallpaper seam paste at Eagle hardware--it is intended to keep
those seams nice and tight. Works for envys, too! Best of all, it was cheap!

I love using the the clear envy's but................
I have tons (slight exaggeration) of celo bags from
Hubbies Microwave Pop Corn, so..................
I tried them, and they work!! I just use double
sided tape to close them.
Yea!! Another cheap alternative. So far no complaints. <G>

Don't know how many of you already do this but...
my kids & I collect toys for the different fast food kid meals. We also
save the bags and make envys out of them. These are really great to send
birthday cards to kids (or those who are going through their second
childhood!). Even have the kids trained to carefully take the food out,
fold up the bag and put it in the pocket of my purse - don't want those
grease marks from the fries!
Have a great day-

I found a little seam gizmo roller thingie, so I appropriated that as
well.. and use it to roll the seams ... the roller thingie is like a tiny
hard plastic brayer thingie almost, only a bit less than 2" sideways..
with a wooden handle.. and I just roll it up and down

I use UHU glue stick on all my envys, wallpaper, tissue paper, freezer
wrap and no one has complained to me yet that they have come apart. I
like the purple colored stick that dries clear. Bought mine at Longs
drug store buy I'm sure Michaels or an office supply store carries it
also.

CajunStamper (afader1@juno.com)
1. Any envy will do, but the large white clasp envys are the easiest to stamp
and decorate. Take envy & cut off top w/decorative scissor & decorate both
sides of envy.
2. Make a fold down both sides of envy and across the bottom (you could
score these first) maybe an inch or more from the edge...now, open the bag
and push both sides in (where you made the fold) to form a valley fold (look
at a paper bag to see what she's talking about). The bottom of the bag will
form two points at bottom sides.
3. Now push bottom of the bag flat anf fold pointed ends toward the
bottom of the bag and glue or tape. Punch holes in the top sides of the
bag. Lace cord, ribbon, etc., through the holes and voila'!

On my wallpaper envelopes I use Seal-All or Stick-Ease Wallcovering Seam
Repair glue. Since they are made of vinyl, it's hard to get a glue that
will stick well. For regular paper envelopes, I use rubber cement. Hope
this helps!
