Subject: RS: Newbie Sampler Packet
Hi All,=20
I received a wonderful surprise in the mail today....It was the "Newbie =
Sampler Packet". It was a surprise...cause I just can't remember =
signing up to get it....then again...I can't remember what I went in the =
kitchen for (I'm sure some of you can relate).
The sampler is jam packed with sample cards. I am getting some great =
ideas. I am going to hold onto it for a couple of days so I can absorb =
all your creativity. I will then send it onto Liz Thompson (I'll send =
you a message on that day).
Thanks for putting me in the loop. FYI...I'm #8 of 15.
Bye,=20

Gorgeous, gorgeous stuff. Suki's card is a collage of fairies, a sun, and
other mystical elements against a really great purple spattered background
(how did you do this?) The envelope, stamped in rainbow of colors and
stippled, is gorgeous, too. (Love the "stamped under the full moon"!" Thanks

Subject: RS: MY SS!!!
I don't know if this ever arrived with all the list problems...I never saw
it, so I'm posting it again.....
I spent yesterday evening at the vet's with a sick kitty cat (Pilgrim's
bladder infection has flared up again, but it's not cutting into her nap
time... :) so getting a package from my SS is definitely the best thing that
could have happened today. Yay! It was a big, heavy package, too.
First of all, thanks for the candy and chocolate (It's a good thing you sent
two of the big chocolate squares 'cuz I had to give my mom one!)
Now, you are flat-out psychic. I don't know if you realize you are, but you
are. For instance, I'm thrilled at the colored pencils you sent--and among
them is another silver one. How did you know I'd worn the silver one (from
the Crayola set you sent) down to a sheer nub?! I am serious. "Get another
silver colored pencil" was on my list of things to do...and I needed more
glue, too....and naturally you knew this, too, because you sent glue. Yay!
Other stuff...the ghost halloween garland is too cute and will come in
handy. (I've been debating whether or not I'm brave enough to venture into
the too-full storage closet to find the Halloween decorations [which are no
doubt on the bottom of the stack!]. So maybe now I won't even have to..... :)
I love the frame stamp from Stamp Affair. It reminded me of all the little
school pictures I get of cousins. I bet I could make some really great
picture frame cards with this.
CARDSTOCK! YAY! Cardstock is always appreciated...lovely stuff!
The $1,000 bill notepad will be great in collage as well as to-do
lists...and the cat cross-stitch! This is another psychic thing. I've been
really wanting to learn cross-stitch (I do some needlepoint) and this will
be a great first project. Thanks for the stamped, embossed, and cleverly
folded card, too (and the post-its!)
AND THEN! The best for last: My SS sent this huge stack of envelopes made of
wallpaper. They're in two different sizes and just GORGEOUS! Paisleys,
plaids, florals, stripes, muted colored-combinations.....these are so
wonderful, I don't know if I'll be able to stand to send them out! I must
say, you are a pro at cutting and folding these--I, who have never folded a
straight edge in my life, am amazed.
Thank you so much, SS. I can't tell you how wonderful it was to get this
package--it definitely brightened up my day. You're the best! Hugs, Cynthia

From: HazelPHIL@aol.com
Subject: RS: Brayer swap received
I received great cards from the Brayer Swap. Thanks again to Merlene for
hosting. Cards I received:
From Delores -- PSX iris stamp embossed in gold. The flowers are
watercolored in a lavender shade and glitter is used. This card is then
mounted on piece of cardstock that has been brayered with black ink. This is
an elegant card. A question I have for you Delores is how do you get that
small amount of glitter on the flowers. Glitter always seems like an all or
nothing thing for me. This smaller amount is so pretty. How do you do it?
From Maren -- A really cute card for winter. A little girl all dressed in a
pink and blue snow suit. It looks like she was stamped on shiny cardstock
and glued to a brayered back ground. The first layer looks like heavy
vellum. Am I right? It is very smooth and goes from a heavy pink to almost
transparent on the bottom. The corners are cut with decorative scissors.
All of this is mounted on blue cardstock. The card "goes together" and is
very nice.
From Merlene -- a very elegant card. It has been described by others very
well. Thank you Merlene. The card is a true 'treasure'.
From Heather - It looks like sponge brayer with pinks and purples. It has
been stamped with southwest type imagse that are embossed (and/or glitter).
The card is pretty. I am unsure of the technique. As I mentioned above I
have never been very good with glitter. I love seeing what you folks did with
it. I am going to "try again" now that I see how nice it can look.
From Stampin Joy "This postcard is made on black cs. Layered on the
front is a peice of glossy white paper that looks like the
background has been made by brayering a piece of bubble wrap (I
might be totally off the wall on this one!!!LOL). "Thanks you" is
stamped in black in the very center. The edge of this paper is
stamped with a small stamp of solid flowers inked in black." I copied this
description because I hadn't thought of the bubble wrap. When I was
thinking of how to describe the clever back ground I felt "stuck". I read
Kimberlee's description and blatently plagerized it here. Let me know if she
is correct, please? All in all, though this is a lovely card. Thank you.
Stargazer's card has been described before. All I can say is that it is
lovely. I admit I can't even begin to guess how it was done. I re-read the
list descriptions and even then it is too advanced for me. I do treasure the
card.
Thanks again for the great cards. This will come out again. As you can tell
I really believe that copying someone is a sign of true respect. I will be
trying out these designs.
Best wishes,
Hazel Philbrook

Forgot to post this early, but I took some of my new images, that
I have just pressed in rubber and not in the catalog yet, and
mounted them on halo tape. Then I took some pin backs and put
halo hook tape on the pin backs. So I now have a half dozen,
convention pins for tomorrow to the first 6 list memebers that
will wear them tomorrow, and then when they get home their
kids will love stamping with them. The images are very bold
outline and about 1.5 x 1.5, so they show up very well.
We will be wearing them, so if you see someone with a stamp
on their shirt/blouse it is either us, or someone else from
the list that has already seen us.

Subject: RS: INKY ANTICS FAN MAIL
I just had to give you all a hint about this wonderful new stampcompany
(that has unmounteds and is an angel as well).
I asked her to make me a $20 grabbag to send with the catalogue. I did
so on monday, and yesterday - on friday - they were here. There were 20
of them and all were just lovely. (And all I mentioned I loved from her
website were there. I believe Jackie is a little angel herself too.)
I hurried to get HALOS on them and have been trying them out ever since.
Oh, I also made time to make myself a wishlist from her catalogue - and
it got looong.
The styles are fun and whimsy. There are some great aliens and penguins
there, funny circus and zoo-stamps - lots of neat underwaterstamps,
christmasstamps, classy flowerstamps, deep sentiments (We have a strange
and wonderful relationship. You are strange and I am beautiful.) and
much more.
I am in the 7th heaven! I have found myself a new favorite company!
Whenever she offers grabbags, I will buy one.

My stamp would be a tossup between the "Christ at Gethsemeny" that HALOS
has, or the stamp of the working slot machine that Rubbernecker puts out.
Hmmmm, now what does that tell you about me?
Hugs
Inga

From: "Paula Jo Green" <pjgreen@cybertime.net>
Subject: RS: Neat background paper idea
I was playing around with my glossy white cardstock and did a really neat
fall background. Thought maybe someone else might like the idea.
First, I watercolored the background with yellow, orange, and red-orange.
I did this in a sunburst pattern with the yellow in the center, orange
around the yellow, and the red-
orange on the outside edge going around the orange. When this dried (I
cheated and dried it with my heat tool), I took a leaf stamp and stamp it
all over the card using Colorbox's orange pigment ink. After I stamped it
all over, I then embossed the whole card with clear embossing powder. The
EP didn't stick to the whole card since I had stamped the leaves several
times before re-inking. When I heated the EP, the effect was really great.
Since the embossing powder didn't stick to the whole card, it ended up
"highlighting" some of the areas.
I used this as a background paper for a layered card I did with Azadi's
large scarecrow. The store I made it for loved it. Now, I am going to be
busy making more of this paper for my Thanksgiving cards.
