Subject: RS: TAN HUM: BABY
Newborn Baby
==============
An old county doctor went way out to the boondocks to deliver a baby.
It was so far out that there was no electricity. When the doctor arrived, no
one was home except for the laboring mother and her 5 year old child
The doctor instructed the child to hold a lantern high so he could see
while he helped the woman deliver the baby. The child did so, the mother
pushed, and after a little while, the doctor lifted the new born baby by the
feet and spanked him on the bottom to get him to take his first breath.
"Hit him again," the child said. "He shouldn't have crawled up there in
the first place!!"

Received the punch I ordered from Lass Creations. Love the extra ,
candy and some Black Sparkle glitter glue. Haven't tried that. Hope
this goes through. Ruth

I hopethis message gets to you. I have three different IDs for you and I
don't know which one you want me to use.
Anyway, Although I have been having difficulty getting onto the internet
the last few days, I was finally able to get on this morning, and was
able to pick up the beautiful bouquet of roses. Thank you so very much.
I needed that. The way this stuff has been going on, it was such a
pleasure to be able to get online at last, and to top it off with such a
pretty bouquet.
Again, thanks so much.

Subject: Re: RS: Re: dir. homemade scratchboard?
Traditionally, it is black ink on white paper or gesso surface (as if I
can remember anything tonight). The faux scratchboard in Somerset Studio
was rainbow pad ink brayered on paper then sprayed with black paint.
They stamped the image and tooled around it. But you could stamp and
etch the lines your choice. The tools you use for block making work
well on scratchboard. Also, the little color charts found at any paint
counter make nice small faux scratchboard: Color on white. Just tour
the local stores for a never ending supply with all the color
combinations you could ever want already color coordinated for you from
the lightest to the darkest values. Hope this helps. s

I didn't get the message - I tried reading it and it made me dizzy. You
might want to go to the xroads web page (http://www.xroads.com) and take a
look see at who you could write to to ask about the message. I once got a
message from some weirdo saying that my credit card was being charged for
some porno videos (LOL!) and if I wanted the charge to be voided I had to
call a certain number. The funny thing was that I didn't even have a
credit card! Hahahaha! Lots of crooks out there - write to the admin at
xroads and see what it's all about.
Good luck!

From: HazelPHIL@aol.com
Subject: RS: Brayer swap received
I received great cards from the Brayer Swap. Thanks again to Merlene for
hosting. Cards I received:
From Delores -- PSX iris stamp embossed in gold. The flowers are
watercolored in a lavender shade and glitter is used. This card is then
mounted on piece of cardstock that has been brayered with black ink. This is
an elegant card. A question I have for you Delores is how do you get that
small amount of glitter on the flowers. Glitter always seems like an all or
nothing thing for me. This smaller amount is so pretty. How do you do it?
From Maren -- A really cute card for winter. A little girl all dressed in a
pink and blue snow suit. It looks like she was stamped on shiny cardstock
and glued to a brayered back ground. The first layer looks like heavy
vellum. Am I right? It is very smooth and goes from a heavy pink to almost
transparent on the bottom. The corners are cut with decorative scissors.
All of this is mounted on blue cardstock. The card "goes together" and is
very nice.
From Merlene -- a very elegant card. It has been described by others very
well. Thank you Merlene. The card is a true 'treasure'.
From Heather - It looks like sponge brayer with pinks and purples. It has
been stamped with southwest type imagse that are embossed (and/or glitter).
The card is pretty. I am unsure of the technique. As I mentioned above I
have never been very good with glitter. I love seeing what you folks did with
it. I am going to "try again" now that I see how nice it can look.
From Stampin Joy "This postcard is made on black cs. Layered on the
front is a peice of glossy white paper that looks like the
background has been made by brayering a piece of bubble wrap (I
might be totally off the wall on this one!!!LOL). "Thanks you" is
stamped in black in the very center. The edge of this paper is
stamped with a small stamp of solid flowers inked in black." I copied this
description because I hadn't thought of the bubble wrap. When I was
thinking of how to describe the clever back ground I felt "stuck". I read
Kimberlee's description and blatently plagerized it here. Let me know if she
is correct, please? All in all, though this is a lovely card. Thank you.
Stargazer's card has been described before. All I can say is that it is
lovely. I admit I can't even begin to guess how it was done. I re-read the
list descriptions and even then it is too advanced for me. I do treasure the
card.
Thanks again for the great cards. This will come out again. As you can tell
I really believe that copying someone is a sign of true respect. I will be
trying out these designs.
Best wishes,
Hazel Philbrook

From: StampMeMad@aol.com
Subject: RS: Shoo- Fly Swap - Great Cards !!
I received the shoo fly swap that Fran R. Shaw hosted and it was also my
first card swap - I was ever in.
Frans card was the first one I pulled out - lets see if a newbie can do it
justice:
A shaker card covered in pretty flowered paper ( Tissue I think) with a
screen ( thats so cool) for the window - Two rainbow colored butterflies
mounted on the inside, ladybug stickers and a wonderful Dragonfly cut out and
also mounted - in blues and greens - so when you are looking into the screen
the butterflies and the dragonfly are like a still life and then three large
flys are shaking around the card.- reminds me of a water scene - beautiful
card Fran.
Candy Balls - is an adorable horse with a hat ! and a piece of straw in its
mouth at a fence with a large horse fly - too cute !! flying around him done
on tan/creme colored cardstock - is this done with chalks - the coloring is
so soft and pretty !!!!
Carol Ferrier: Carol took a small piece of cardstock and stamped a nose,
mouth, and chin profile stamp. On the nose of this image she stamped a fly!
Then she layered this on a piece of black
cardstock and then again on a piece of what looks like snakescales
holographic paper. She then layered this combo on a larger piece of
cardstock with flies ramdomly stamped all over. she painted the flies with
what looks like paint to give them that shiny look Elegant - I love this
card.
OakleyMC: On golden colored lined paper is layered a thicker piece of craft
paper with a large piece of pie - I want this stamp !!!
stamped and embossed in copper. In the bottom is a great bigfly spreading
its wings. This card came with an envelope, I think that this card is
perfect for the theme !
Ginny Connlley card is just so pretty and elegant!
she took a light beige cardstock stamped tan colored files on it as a
background then cut out and layered copper colored paper in fancy fiskars in
squares then she layered a creme colored cardstock stamped with the flys and
colored in - nice coloring must be watercolors. Ginny you are awesome.
I feel bad for those who received my cards - yucko compared to these
examples.
Thanks Fran great swap.
Hugs,
Maria G.

Hi Dot,
Welcome to the list. We're a crazy, warm, and helpful group (usually), so
you've come to the right place if you have questions.
As for the abbreviations. In the subject line, we try to let people know
what kind of post they're getting.
RS = rubber stamp related
Com = commercial/vender related
TAn = a tangent, usually totally unrelated to rubberstamping and usually
either interesting or fun or both
Hum = humor...if it could be offensive, there is usually a buffer zone so
people don't read it accidentally
LOL = lots of laughs
DH = dear husband
MIL = mother in law
SIL = sister in law, etc...
Hope this helps a little.
Hugs,
Jody MorrCatsNRubbr

Oh, Maria!!! I don't feel that way at all! In fact, your card was one of my
favorites! I just loved those little pies on the front, and what a great
idea putting that Shoo-Fly Pie recipe inside!! Talk about fitting the theme
perfectly!! Maria, you are very creative. Please enter more of my swaps!

Hi:
I received the nicest card in the mail today from Bonnie2. It is
burgandy linen cardstock that is edged with gold and dotted with gold as
well. On it she has layered two separate layers. The top
one being a bouquet of beautiful Cala Lilies. A deckled, gold gilded
edged saying ...And the two shall be called one.
Bonnie, this was truly a surprise and a delight in my day. Thank you so
much for thinking of me. You asked how the store was doing. Thank you
for asking, it is doing very well indeed.
Stampin' Hugs

The only thing that Michaels is having next week is a coupon for 30% off
and a coupon for 40% off of 1 item. (not your whole purchase)
I hope this helps!

surprise. I don't want to give it away, but I think I need that house on
the inside of the card. Wherever did you find it.
I really like the way you used the corner edger scissors and your crimper
on this card.

Subject: RS: TAN: Mail day
I got two really great cards in the mail today. Boy did I need them!!!
The first was from Teresa Holt. She made a really sweet Halloween card.
There is a bunny & a teddy bear wearing sheets over their heads for ghost
costumes. The inside of the card said, "Happy Boo Day". Really cute!
The second card was from Meridee Weilert. She stamps 2 pigs with wings
and sponged gold around them. On the inside she stamped "Enjoy your day".
This card is really simple, but lovely.
Thanks so much for the cards. Today was a really rough one for me
emotionally. And your cards helped lift my spirits.
