This may not be rocket science but ......I like it a whole lot.
I've been making masks for stamping from the wallpaper sheets that I
don't like. These masks don't tear and they last forever. I leave the
plasti-tac on the completed mask and store. That way, I'm not
scrounging around looking for the plasti-tac under all the other stuff
while I'm stamping.

Subject: RS:HEE HEE HA HA
Can you tell I received my Humorous/Funny swap cards? What a fun swap this
was, Deni. Thanks for doing such a good and fast job of it. I received some
very funny cards. I must say, there are some very warped senses of humor out
there. That's what made this swap soooooooooo much fun! Tee hee!
From ????????: In a brown paper envelope there was a card of brown cardstock
with purple brick background and splatters that look like someone cut
themselves and dripped on it (that means it's splattered with brown), and
layered with a white toilet with a man diving into it. Inside is the same
brick pattern and the toilet with bubbles rising from it and the saying "Mama
said there'd be days like this!" Too funny, whoever you are!
Deni, our hostess, made on green cardstock, layered with white on which is
stamped a blender called the Mince-O-Matic full of liquid and a frantic frog.
At the bottom it says "What's green and red and goes 100 miles per hour?"
You are sick, Deni. That's what I like about you!
From Rebecca is white cardstock with a squiggly background, layered with
white cardstock with a stamp of a tiny lady with BIG hands holding a sign
that says HOWDY! Under her it says "I felt it was my duty to send you this
card....Then on the inside it has a picture of Howdy Dooty and his partner
and under the picture it says "It's my Howdy Duty card!" This is so funny!
Way to go, Rebecca!
In a small white envelope with french fries stamped on the front, there was a
card on white cardstock with purple geometric background stamped in purple,
and a stamp of a Viking king with 2 big dogs. The Viking is singing, "Oh I
wish I were an Oscar Meyer Weiner....."etc, and the dogs are thinking
"Please!Please!Please!" and "YES!"
On the inside are eight loose weiners in buns embossed in brown and on the
card is stamped a wizard and a dog. There is text that reads "Into each life
some kibble must fall" and a stamped hot dog in a bun next to the word THUD.
The wizard is asking "You want fries with that?" You also have a strange
sense of humor. I love it!
Susan (Coffee Stamper) used beige cardstock and stamped and embossed in black
a near-sighted porcupine wearing glasses bringing flowers to his newest
girlfriend, a cactus. In the top left corner it is punched with a heart
corner punch and a red ribbon bow tied there. Susan, clean that poor
porcupines glasses! Really cute!
And the weirdest of all, Erna Jensen. On purple cardstock, layered with
crimped turquoise, then layered with white on which is stamped a giant fly in
a suit. He is holding a big fly swatter and in front of him is an old lady
chasing a small fly trying to swat it with her purse. Above the giant fly is
text that says "Finding the world increasingly unfriendly, the flies got
their own lawyer to deal with people!" Erna, you are one crazy lady! Good
job!
This swap was great fun and I am so glad I joined it. Thank you again to
Deni for all her hard work, and to all who participated.

I know how you feel. My son is at basic in Ft. Benning, Ga. He left the
1st of July, and he did get a card from Ant Judy. That did make him happy..
This was his first time to be away from home also.. At least your's gets to
call home, mine didn't get to for almost two months, and I didn't get a
letter for weeks...
He will be fine. Mine is leaving in November for Germany for 2 to 3 years,
so that is really sad. He said they are suppose to go to Bosnia for 6
months.....
JUst hang in there, things will get better..

This is just a little tip/$$ saver I came up with, not sure if anyone=20
else does this or mentioned it before:
Instead of using the expensive "cold" lamenating stuff for pins, I=20
invested in a roll of clear contact paper and use that instead - it=20
gives whatever I *lamenate* a non-glare effect. Of course it isn't=20
quite as stiff, but I feel it's close enough. Made a whole batch of=20
pins for my non-stamping co-workers last year and they loved=20
them...they even wore them several times during the holidays.
I have also used clear contact paper for making cute holiday garland. =20
Last year I used the DOTS scarecrow and turkey (about 10 each) used a=20
hole punch on each hand/two feathers and then tied them together with=20
bows of raffia. I swagged this in front of my desk and everyone that=20
came into my office ooohhhed and aaahhhed about it!=20
O.K. I'll take my thumbs outa my lapels now. =DC =DC

From: stampatti@juno.com (Patti Welsh)
Subject: RS: Tip of the Day - Stained Glass
You stamp on vellum (or in this particular case, tracing paper) and
emboss it in black, then color the image with markers. For a really nice
stained glass effect, I like to color the main image on the front and the
backgrounds on the back. If you color on the back of the image, the
colors are muted and soft. If you color on the front, they are
brillliant. Then I seal the entire thing, front and back, with clear
glaze.
Using a tri fold card with one section folded behind the front, cut an
opening, the same shape as the image, through both sections that now make
up the front of the card. Slip the embossed and colored translucent
vellum in between the two cutout windows, and glue or tape it in place.
Glue or tape the front pieces together so they make one page.
When you open the card, light shines through the image on the vellum and
it looks like stained glass. Really pretty.

Subject: RS: Ann got her Sept. SSS5 package today... :-) Yipee!!!!!!
Well, it came and guess what.. It has been next door at my neighbor's
since yesterday. They went out of town yesterday and just got back and
brought it over. The mail came after we went to town and then when we got
home, they were gone.. The box was beat up pretty bad, so it I hope
nothing was lost. It is a wonder it made it at all... :-)
ANyway, I told Lisa that I would send it back to her since this was for
Sept. and Oct. She said it was for both months of Sept. and Oct. There was
a palett of chalk, corner rounder, scissors, small brush, 2 mini packs of
q-tips for the chalks, a bear stamp, a small pack of 2 Origami papers, and
3 lunch sacks, a small pack of leaf stickers, and 3 homemade envy's.. candy
chewies, 2 packs of hot chocolates, and a mirror stamp.. I have always
wanted one of these, and dh already is making plans on how he can use
it..LOL I am sending part of it back to her since this was for 2 months,
but thank you for the great things you did send. I just have one question
for you though.. <gg> Why wasn't there a homemade b'day card in there for
me??? I have never seen any of your stamping...........As many swaps as you
are always doing, I do know that you know how.. <g>
THank you Lisa.
Lisa called me earlier tonight and we had a long nice chat.. All is
alright with us now, and we are still friends. THis was all a really big
misunderstanding because of me being hurt from the last sss4. During that
one, I got 2 packages in 5 months, and it just seemed like this sss5 was
the same all over again...
I told her that I was planning on posting when I did get the package. I
just wish I had of been home when the mail came. I will talk to the mail
lady tomorrow if I catch her and ask her to leave me a note in my box
letting me know that she left something at a neighbors.. Thanks
again...........

I invited some fellow stampers over for an evening of stamping, chatting
and just plan fun..Boy did we have fun!!!!Ginny and Ingrid from our list
were here and so were four others. We shared paper, tips, and really
had a blast. I provided cold drinks as in sodas and had beer available.
Two of the gals brought a bottle of wine for us to share. We ate
pretzels and popcorn while we stamped also...I showed everyone how to
stamp and make a card using vellium.
Does anyone else get together with other stampers and just stamp and
visit. I would love to hear what you did...Ingrid is thinking about
starting a stamping club which I think would be awesome if I wasn't
moving in four weeks...I hope I find some fellow stampers where I'm
going....Bye to all...GloMom

Ya know, I'm not sure what's the big deal, either. Here we've got a group
that wants to promote responsibility and stability in men. Is there a
problem with that? Hello!!
But the liberal media looks at a large group of conservative men, meeting
at the Washington Mall, and thinks, "Oh, no! A conservative political
agenda is happening! We must warn everyone!" They did the same thing with
the 1,000,000 man march that Farrakhan threw as well.
Oh, well...

Most of the cards we've gotten have been for Jodi, and so it was especially
nice to get one for me! Rubber Maid sent me a great card with a couple of
fishermen on the front. I don't fish, but it looked great!
It sure made my day.

It is kind of X-fileish to have a story like this, but only good for a
thrill at a slumber party. Or e-mail, it seems. :-)
The idea is kind of fishy when you think that organs would be of
questionable blood/tissue type and quality when taken this way. And
after drinking some drugged alhcohol? Also, isn't organ donation a
highly documented process? What doctor could accept such an item?
Oh dear, with all the medical stuff people go through on this list, it 's
rubbing off on me? :->

Subject: RS: Stampers' Garden Stuff.....
What a great day in the Stampers' Garden. There were eats and stamps and
demos and people and.....WOW! Santa did his demo on using the Stamp
Positioner and his middle plexiglas from his envelope maker. He used
Stampscapes as an example. Too Kewl! Did this great card making it look
like it was from the Australian Outback. Another trick he divulged was the
fact that he uses his reverse stamp as a painters palette, and then stamped
the tonal on top of that. Made for a nicer flow of colors. Another style
he demo'd was showing how to connect two different images together, such as
Fred & Ginger dancing on top of a brick wall, and a lady hanging from a
plane. Wonderful job Santa, and thanks for getting all the tall nails out
of the wall. Santa is 6'2" ya know....a handy guy to have around when you
are only 5'4".
Nan Robkin, the colored pencil queen, did her demo on......let's see if you
are paying attention.......colored pencil technique. Such a great style.
This lady really knows her colors. I think I will just stamp the image and
then send them to her to color in. She says she colors images whenever she
gets to feeling a little wacked out, to which Nan Johnson (Nanstamps)
mentioned that must be all of the time. Nan J likes to live on the edge
herself being as how she was staying with Nan R and Nan R had the car to
drive back home which was a loooong ways away.
Nan J showed us how she carved stamps. Made it look so easy, and didn't
cut herself once. Made a nice name stamp for Baggie, Nan R and myself. As
is proper mine was just a little bit askew, and I absolutely love it.
Thank you Nan J. Barbara Holl showed up, and Meridee....who has a berry
sore nose. She has had surgery on it recently. We thank you for taking
the time to come to our Open House Meridee. She had this cute little girl
with her who was so good, and had the most gorgeous blonde curly
hair....and it was a girl, usually that privilege is for boys. Well, at
least the curly blonde stuff. Ellen got a nice surprise. Her SS had
someone (a relative I am told) come to the shop and present Ellen with this
month's SS package. What a great idea. Ellen was just so taken back.
Jutta got to do her wonderful glitter demo. The lady is gonna be known at
the glitter queen. Poor ole baggie just got to run the cash register for
the day and greet customers. Some of them were out of state onliners who
had come in for the Art Fest. I heard a couple of people at the Art Fest,
one from Montana and another from another small town I am not sure where
who were just delighted to be able to go to the Art Fest and had even
thought about moving to Washington to be near all these wonderful stamp
vendors. I gotta concur....it don't get any better than this kids.
