Kari,
I got my very first rubber stamp at a garage sale about 4 years ago (a
howling wolf). I didn't have a clue as to what to do with it, so I just
sat it around and looked at it. Unfortunately it sat on the windowsill,
which probably wasn't good for the rubber. :( Now that I do know what
to do with it, and it's not on the windowsill anymore. :)

Hi there,
Saw this and thought it was important to pass this on to you.
So if anyone
offers you a drink I would think twice in accepting
it.
Maylene
This was on 20/20 several weeks ago...My wife the nurse
has confirmed
that this is indeed going on. Please be careful, and bounce
this
message to anyone and everyone you can think of.
These
messages have been edited only in that all the forwarding marks
and source
address have been removed (there were a lot of them).
I wish to warn
you about a new crime ring that is targeting business
travelers. This ring
is well organized, well funded, has very skilled
personnel, and is
currently in most major cities and recently very
active in New Orleans.
The crime begins when a business traveler goes
to a lounge for a drink at
the end of the work day. A person in the
bar walks up as they sit alone
and offers to buy them a drink. The
last thing the traveler remembers
until they wake up in a hotel room
bath tub, their body submerged to their
neck in ice, is sipping that
drink. There is a note taped to the wall
instructing them not to move
and to call 911. A phone is on a small table
next to the bathtub for
them to call. The business traveler calls 911,
who have become quite
familiar with this crime. The business traveler is
instructed by the
911 operator to very slowly and carefully reach behind
them and feel if
there is a tube protruding from their lower back. The
business
traveler finds the tube and answers "yes." The 911 operator
tells them
to remain still, having already sent paramedics to help. The
operator
knows that both of the business traveler's kidneys have been
harvested.
This is not a scam or out of a science fiction novel, it is
real. It
is documented and confirmable. If you travel or someone close
to you
travels, please be careful.

Yes, this does happen. My sister-in-law works with a lady that
this
happened to her son's neighbor who lives in Houston. The only
"good"
thing to his whole story is the fact that the people doing this
horrible
crime are very aware of what complications can happen afterwards,
and
take detailed precautions to set up the room before leaving. The
word
from my sister-in-law is that the hospital in Las Vegas (yes,
Vegas)
prior to transferring him back to Houston stated that these people
know
exactly what they are doing. The incision, etc. was exact and
clean.
They use sterile equipment, etc. and the hospital stated that other
than
the fact that the victim loses a kidney there have not been any
reports
of other complications due to non-sterile, etc. tactics that were
used.

Sadly, this is very true. My husband is a Houston
Firefighter/EMT and
they have received alerts regarding this crime ring.
It is to be
taken very seriously. The daughter of a friend of a fellow
firefighter had this happen to her. Skilled doctors are performing
these
crimes! (which, by the way have been highly noted in the Las
Vegas area).
Additionally, the military has received alerts regarding
this.
This story blew me away. I really want as many people to see this as
possible so please bounce this to whoever you can.
Please think when
you drink.

On top of that is another stamp of some different littlefolk. Thanks

I recently partipated in the 5-Hour Swap---and was *THRILLED* with the
results. I asked Nancy if she was going to host another one--but she
replied that she is booked up with swaps until after the 1st of the
year......and indicated that I could host a similiar swap.
So..since I can't wait any longer........I propose a "WOW!"
swap.....because that's what I said as I took out every card from the
5-hour swap.....
Any theme -- no card can be too detailed or over-decorated. Each card must
take at *least* an hour to make. Come on in!
Name of Swap: "WOW" Swap
Format: Cards, Postcards, frames, projects, etc.
Description: Cards must take 5-25 hours (to complete the set) and must
include at least one gratuitous gewgaw, bauble or charm.
Hosted By: Deni Johnson
Email: denij@athenet.net
Items Info: 5 for 5---if you send an extra for me--I'll include a "Jumping
Jack Flash" card and pattern to you--it's a GREAT pop-up for all
occasions--I learned it from a Judi-Kins rep at a class last spring
Due Date: Postmarked October 30
Mailing Info: Nancy had said that the postage cost was over what she had
anticipated--and I don't want to go broke mailing these back! Please send
$3 to cover priority mailing back to you (The package I got back cost $3
and was huge). I suggest you use a LARGE padded mailer to send--and then
I'll send it back to you in the same mailer--nice and secure--please
include an address label for return mail.

I got this tip from a wonderful woman named Patti who I took some classes
with. She taught me how to watercolor using colorbox inkpads and I'm
hooked! You just stamp your colorbox on some wax paper and then get your
brush and water and pick the color up from the wax paper with a wet brush
to paint your image(s). I love it because I don't have money to go out
and but watercolors right now but I have plenty of colorboxes so its a
fun and inexpensive way to explore watercoloring.

Don't know if this was said before, but what I found out to be handy,
when needing a design on the front of a card, I take a cookie cutter (
can be heart, oval, circle.... sometimes you can buy graduated ones) and
just trace around these and then border in gold, or add a design or
cutouts. Makes it alot easier than trying to draw it yourself, and you
can use the cutter to judge how big the stamp you are going to use can
be. Works for me.

Here's something I just discovered yesterday. I was colouring in the flame
of a candle and it looked *bad*. The orange and yellow just didn't looked
blended. I thought I had to cover it in some way. So I rummaged around and
found my old slick paints that we had when we painted on our sneakers in
primary school. The yellow slick paint looked great as the candle flame. It
was all shiny and raised even after it dried. I'm going to be using these
slick paints more often!

Subject: RS: Kate's Mail Days
I've received some wonderful stamping things in the mail lately and
wanted to share them with you.
From Janet Detter Margul - a stunning watercolour card of two ducks
flying against a blue-white salted sky. The salt crystals created the
effect of snowflakes, and now that it's Fall, the nights are going well
below freezing, so that's a possibility, and the ducks and geese are
winging their way South, so the card is very appropriate.
From Betsy McLoughlin - catalogs for Judikins and Magenta and my first
Rollagraphs which I'm looking forward to playing with.
The latest Stampers Sampler, which was a bit of a disappointment - I
think they saved all the cards with deep, rich collages and interesting
techniques for Somerset Studio.
I'm not back on the list yet, but maybe in another month or two when
hopefully family things will begin to improve. Hope you're all happy,
healthy, and stamping up a storm. Blessings!

Have you tried stamping on them and mounting them to magnets, or if the
direct stamping doesn't work, stamping on tissue and gluing it on, making
tiny collages?
Let us know how it works.

HI All
Just wanted to say I bought the most beautiful stamp from Delyne Mayer
of We Be Stampin. It is a beautiful basket of flowers with two birds
on it as well. Delyne had used this stamp for last months "Monthly
Swapers" exchange and I loved it so much I asked her where she got it.
Low and behold she does some of her own. Very pretty. Thanks Delyne.

Subject: RS: RAKed by Sharon in Oz!! :-) (a tip at the end)
Thanks Sharon!
Sharon sent me a stack of wonderful cards that she made! I love the one with
the dalmatian on it! Actually I love them all... the scenic with the
glittery EP, the beautiful tree (I want that tree!!), oh... and great idea
using old calendar pages to make envelopes!
This tip is really Sharon's idea... but I thought I would share this with you
guys cuz it's really neat:
Sharon does this neato thing on the envelopes that she makes with each card.
She stamps a portion of her main design on the side of the envy... so for
the tree card, half of the tree is stamped kinda off the edge of the envy.
For the dog card, the dog was small enough to stamp all of him on the envy.
This is very effective and really ties the card and the envy together
without going through lots of trouble.
I had a friend come over and stamp with me last night, and I showed her the
cards... she loved that idea so much, she's going to start doing that (and I
think I will too)!
Thanks for sharing, Sharon!

You can do this with your watercolor pencils too. Just scribble them on
and use your brush. I have ssen it done on tv. but can't remeber the paper.
I guess you would have to scribble on watercolor paper..
