Kate,
I'm a firm believer in the 1st amendment and in venting! <VBG> And I
like the way that you're reaching out to people right now. To me, it's
appealing.
Anyway, while cruising the internet, I came across a web site that's
about Pergamano. Take a look. I think that you might enjoy it.

A thought here, if you can't use anything on it, then why throw it away???
Why can't you then glue your wallpaper or contact paper over that and then
you have a whole new background to stamp cut out, and mount on top of the
paper.. Just a thought. Haven't tried it yet. I have glued a half sheet
over the inside of a card before if I messed up on the inside after
finishing the outside...

Subject: RS: Tip of the Day
My favorite simple technique is really too simple and I learned it in a
class (I'm embarrassed that I didn't think of it myself). After I'd pour my
embossing powder onto my stamped image, I would really fuss and fume trying
to get the card bent just right to get the powder back in the canister
without making a mess (I use film canisters - my photography collection is
growing :-), taking great care to not ruin the stamped image and not crease
the card stock. At a class one day the instructor put the card she was
embossing on top of another piece of plain white paper and then, after
pouring the EP onto the stamped image, she picked up the card, dumped the
EP onto the piece of white paper, folded the paper into a V, held the V
down very close to the crease (sort of making a funnel) and very neatly
poured the powder back into the canister. It was one of those
butt-of-my-hand-to-the-forehead moments.
Oh, I also save all the white paper from my printer (drafts, etc.) and use
it for all embossing and gluing operations.
Did ANYONE just slap their forehead or is it just me?
Cheers!!!

Pat,
I feel slightly misunderstood by you. I want you to understand I don't
feel attacked by you. I'm just one of those people who believes that
communication requires work and that I crave to be understood and believe
that that wish burns in the heart of each of us.
When you said "Unless you've been there, don't judge someone who has a
slow or no-show SSS," it seems to me that you think that I was judging
Ann. I can understand how you might think that, but that wasn't my
intent. I am assuming that you are reacting to my comments that Ann
complained, whined and may have hurt the feelings of her SSS5. To me
personally, that was not a judgment -- it was an observation. I don't
attach a negative value to complaining, whining and **inadvertently**
hurting someone's feelings. What human being alive does not complain,
whine and *inadvertently* hurt someone else's feelings? I know I do it,
and probably on a daily basis with either my husband, children or
friends. I believe it is a part of human nature and inescapable. How
can we not be human? How can we not have feelings? How can we not have
conflict? How can there be no misunderstandings? How can we avoid
disappointment?
What I was reacting to is the way that these individuals were dealing
with misunderstanding and conflict. While I understand that as human
beings we are of course flawed, I also believe that we have the ability
to try and resolve misunderstandings and conflict without resorting to
cruelty. I must confess that I WAS being judgmental of the people who
were going out of their way to *purposely* hurt Ann. In my book, that's
totally unacceptable. I'm one of those people who feels a need to stand
up for what I believe in. And in a Pollyanna-ish way, I hope that
perhaps I might touch the heart of someone who's been so scarred by their
own pain and emotional injuries that it has become difficult for them to
feel the compassion that lives within each of us.
If you feel misunderstood by me, please let me know. I know how
miscommunication happens all the time. Personally, I have to work at
getting it right. My kids can tell you how often I just don't
understand. I liked your straightforward way of talking to me and
appreciate that you wanted me to hear what you think and have
experienced. (Being left out or forgotten for whatever the reason hurts.
It would hurt me anyway.)

I just thought of another simple thing I like to do:
I cut the edges of a card with decorative scissors and then very carefully
dip the edge (yes, the little, tiny, cut edge) of the card through pigment
ink. To do this without bending the card you have to hold the card stock
firm (as in stiff) with both hands and take tiny dips. Then I pour on some
EP and heat. It gives a very understated gilt edge to the cards (I tend to
do this with gold). An extra bonus is that the inside edge of the card ends
up gilded too (you can't avoid it so look at the bright side).
Cheers!!!

Whenever I am going to send an embossed postcard, I always put it into a
clear envy. Especially if I have glitter on it. If I use dye-based inks,
I send it without an envy.
The only 2 times I ever heard that a card didn't arrive in good shape was
when the post office put a white bar code sticker across the card front and
the other time, a mail carrier dropped a card in a puddle of muddy water.
Good luck,
Paula Jo

Subject: RS: TAN: Daughter wants earrings - help
I'm looking for a little advice from all of you, my 6 year old ( who thinks
she 30) wants her ears pierced, now all her friends have them and I guess now
its not a big deal to do that so young but when I was that age - it was never
even talked about I had to wait till I was 15( when the ear guns first came
out and I couldn't get a double pierce I had to do it at home myself).
I am having a really hard time deciding if I should let her, but everyone has
earrings now, plus all the cute little girl jewelry sets are always only
pierced earrings. I know that she would be good cleaning her ears etc, but if
your daughters have pierced ears how is it for them and is a pain for you ??
My relatives in Italy all have their ears pierced and I know that a lot of
customs from other countries girls have their ears pierced very young even at
birth - but this isn't for a religous reason.
Any suggestions, advice will be very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Maria G.

Jane,
Like all families, this one too has brats in it. Dad has spanked them
now, and life will continue, until the next scrap. If you don't
understand what has been going on, don't worry about it. You are not
alone.
Forget it and enjoy the rest of the list. The sun WILL come out
tomorrow, and we'll all have a real good time.

Subject: RS: My tip for the day
If, like me, you have horrible (or even not too good) handwriting, and
don't share Jhone's wonderful callagraphy skills, let me tell you what I
do.
I don't have all the wonderful word and phrase stamps that I need to suit
every occasion. But I have files full of great poems, stories, and good
thoughts.
I use my computer to do inserts and overlays.
I have my word procesing program (in my case WinWord), set up with two
templates (one portrait and one landscape) to print two columns with nice
margins. I choose an appropriate phrase (or two) and type them in the
bottom half of each column using a pretty, or fancy, or sometimes funny
or season appropriate (snowy, ghouly, etc.) font. Then I print them on
nice colored or parchament paper. Cut them in half, and there you have
two inserts for your cards.
Run a thin line of glue stick or double stick tape along the inside fold
of your card, and stick your insert into the card.
You can also use the word processor in this matter to print messages
(CONGRATULATIONS - HAPPY BIRTHDAY - Whatever) on vellum for an overlay
for your cards. You can emboss your image on the front also, and color
it from the back, and then place your card inside. I also attach these
with stick glue or double stick tape (on the back - along the top of the
fold).
I love to find different ways to use my computer together with my rubber
stamping.

Maybe when you are sitting in front of the computer and you read that little
post from someone that curls your hair a little, you should sign off, GO
STAMP a little...maybe even for the person that posted the post that miffed
you a bit and then see next time you sign on how you feel... We all have bad
days, we all make mistakes, and we all LOVE stamping. Life goes on. There
is enough heartache that we deal with everyday and we should not inflict on
each other. Now that everyone has realized the ramifications of hasty
posts... maybe we can all be a little kinder. Just my little opinion on the
subject. Now back to better things...like stamping.
Searched all over for environtex, got it now what do I do with it???? Any
tips> Lori

I like:
Tsukineko's Emboss Dual Pen (I carry them). They have two size of
tips. Also there's a new Emboss pen, that has a calligraphy tip on one
end. Pretty cool! They stay wet a long time!
I've also had good luck with with Marvy's embossing pen (I don't carry),
but I've heard complaints from others about it.

Hi, Roz,
I use the Emboss Dual pens by Tsukineko with great results. There are 2
series that come in a whole bunch of different colors, including clear.
Both series are dual tipped. The first series has a somewhat wide flat
calligraphy tip on one end and a pointy tip like the small end of a
Tombow on the other end. The Emboss Dual Pen II has a brush tip on one
end and a very narrow calligraphy tip on the other end.
I think they're wonderful for all different kinds of writing. They stay
wet so you can emboss your writing. And the colors are beautiful. Try
one. They're $3, but I bet you can find them somewhere at a discount.

When you are layering cards do you completely glue each layer down on
top of each other...or do you glue just part of it. I hope this is not

retyped this four times and now I'm not sure what I am saying (LOL)
