It really depends on where and how you cash the money order. If you
deposit in your acct there should be no charge. But more and more
banks are charging for each and every transactions made. So it has
come to now mean depending on what kind of acct you have at your bank.
Etc.. Also if you cash money order or checks at currecy exchange there
is a charge per check depdning on how much a percentage as well.
Money order is still the safest and easiest way to go. here i found a
place where i can buy money order for only 20 cents each where back in
Illinois sometimes im charged as much as 3.00 each money order...
Since I moved I have not yet found a bank i am happy with. It is now
just too expensive to even have a checkingacct. Not that I am broke
or anything but I just find it riduculous to have to pay for each
check i write, each deposit i make and if i am under the limit then i
am chargedridiculously for not having over a certain amount in my
checking acct. Just too ridiculous.
Anyway to answer your question.... If you just depsoit the money order
there really shouldnt be any charge.

Subject: Re: Swap postage concern
Hi, Julie,
In spite of my great respect for Debbie Frank, I disagree with her
about the postage. The first few swaps I did, I asked for $1. postage
because that was the most I had ever paid to mail the simple cards I made.
But i discovered that some of the packages cost me $1.24 to mail.
And postage is not the only expense I incurred.
Sometimes I could mail the cards back in the same envelopes I received
them in, but sometimes I couldn't. Sometimes people didn't send a mailing
label or mail their cards in a plastic bag. I found that it was important
to mail the cards back in a plastic bag to avoid water damage in winter
weather especially.
Remember that the more people who participate in your swap, the more
these expenses will add up. After 2-3 swaps, I began to ask for
$1.50. After a few more, I decided that the next one I host, I will ask
for $2. If you watch the swap announcements, you'll see that's not
an unusual amount.
I think it is better to send a little more money to be certain the
hostess has enough to mail all the envelopes back--not just mine.
I want to be certain she doesn't lose money on the swap, so she'll
be willing to host another.

yes you could the effect would be different...
Pergamano is very similiar to dry embossing on vellum paper. With
Pergamano you use parchment but I have taken pergamano class using
vellum paper.. I do NOT like using inks white or colored. I have used
Pergamano wax pencils but it takes getting used to. Its a whole
different technique.
I am not too crazy about Pergamano.

Hi Jilliebean,
The package will be mailed on Tuesday - Monday being a holiday and all. It's
on it's way to you so be on the lookout.
I took out 4 and replaced it with 4 cards. They were all great! Love seeing so
many different techniques.
I will try to describe the ones I took out - here goes:
1) Sunflower card by Susan Sproc: Marigold card stock layered with a sunflower
ribbon on the left side; layered with black paper and then on top with white
mulberry paper stamped with a sunflower right on the mulberry paper (gee,
never thought of doing that). Seems like it was colored in with chalks but not
sure. Then she stamped just the sunflower part of the flower on tissue paper
and colored it in and mounted it with mounting tape on top of the sunflower
that was stamped on the mulberry paper. Great effect Susan!
2) Reindeer Bear by Lori Stine: Beige cardstock; layered with red card stock;
then layered with green card stock which was put through a corrugator; then
the image stamped on white card stock and layered on top. She put a gold
ribbon with a little bell around the reindeers neck like necklace (so cute).
Then she weaved a piece of cord all around the front of the card. Such a great
idea Lori.
3) DJ Inkers Happy Birthday card from Lori Stine: White cardstock with images
from DJ Inkers ( I believe) a dog and turtle; sun and clouds. The really neat
thing about this card is that she used a piece of brown stock - corrugated and
cut at the top with fancey edger scissors (maybe pinking or mountain edgers)
to make this piece of brown paper look like a fence. Cool Lori.
4) Purple Happy Birthday card from Bonnie Lass: Really pretty heart stamp
(PSX?) ounted on lilac card stock. Heart middle cut out to reveal a Happy
Birthday word stamp. Card was edged with purple to border it and very sparkly
- - Bonnie please email me and tell me how you did this. I'm stumped. A
beautiful card!
I loved them all.

With all this talk of Pergamano - where can you find this to see it. I have
never seen this before although I have heard people talk about it on the list
and off. Is there a web site to view? I have never seen this in my stamp
stores. Anyone have an idea where one can get ahold of this to look at.
TIA,

saw a long time ago with this done to the vellum.
We are carrying Pergamano in our store now. It is really fun to work
with. If you can find any heavy parchment paper (like drafter's
vellum), you can easily recreate the Pergamano look.
All you need is the paper, a thin line pen (like the old time quill and
ink pens), white ink, and a stylus.
1. Stamp your design on a sheet of white paper.
2. Lay the parchment paper over the design and trace the pattern with
the white ink. Or you could just emboss with white pad or white
embossing powder, BUT this does have a tendency to flake off, I've
found.
3. Then turn your paper over and dry emboss the open areas of your
design, or trace around the outside lines giving a definite look to
the tracing. Pergamano sells a felt pad which comes in the beginner's
kit and they also sell a heavier pad which has a sort of vinyl look to
one side. I think a mouse pad or cutting board would work just as
well. (haven't tried this, so I'm not exactly sure. <G>
Pergamano sells chalks that can be used on the underside of the paper to
give a pastel look. I was rather unhappy with the way these left
streaks, so I have just used markers to color with. Pergamano also
sells inks that can be used to color in your designs. These work almost
like glass paints.
One of the Pergamano tools that I have not been able to duplicate with
supplies I already have on hand are the needle punches. These are two
or four small needles that will perforate your paper. With the two
needle tool you can go around the outside of your design punching holes
- - you insert the second needle into the hole left by the first punch,
thereby getting EXACT punches. You can then "tear" the parchment away
and this leaves a very beautiful lacey look.
The four needle punch gives a very unique design when used in combination
with an embossed circle inbetween. Sort of like X's and O's. <G>
Hope this helps.

Just wondering.. does everyone make themselves a copy of each swap

Darn. I just realized that I forgot to put RS in the subject line on my
message about the Clearsnap color charts. Sowwy!
Again...I saw this thread a couple of days ago and deleted all the
information that was shared so I'm probably repeating someone else's post.
Oh, well...I can always claim that great minds think alike.
Since hearing a lot about fun foam lately, I've been playing with it and
I've found that the adhesive I like best for it is Dryline Permanent
adhesive found at office supply stores. It goes on smoothly to the fun
foam and sticks it down firmly and immediately...no drying time. And
Dryline never buckles your paper which is important to me since I layer
like a mad woman. Dryline is by far my favorite adhesive for just about
everything. A little pricey, but worth it. I've tried the Tombow adhesive
that's similar to Dryline, but I don't like it as well. It tends to just
peel the back layer off of some of my exotic handmade papers.
