Subject: Re: RS: Follow-up regarding selling cards
THis is just my experience and I am not an expert. I have done about 10
craft shows. Well I found doing local crafts shows and selling cardsa
couple of big things:
1. Make half the cards with greetings and half the cards blank inside.
Put each type of card with a greeting in a separate labeled basket. ie
Birthday, Get Well, etc.
2. Package all the cards in baggies or clear envies so people won't
touch them and mess them up. Package a few sets.
3. Make a wide variety of styles and types of cards.
4. Start small and expect to cover your booth rental make a little
money(I never made over $150 in a weekend after booth rental) and this is
not counting supplies for the cards.
5. Just do it to enjoy seeing other people PAY Money to buy something
you made.
6. Get a friend to share the booth for company and to save $.(preferably
someone with something else to sell).
7.Price the cards reasonably in a craft show. Much higher if you are
putting them in a shop on consignment.
8. Try a craft show but, an exclusive stationary/gift type show involves
much less work even after they take their cut. You just have to make
them drop them off and pick up your money.

I am a twin. They separated us in the elementary grades but we had some
classes together in jr high, high school and college. I think it was
good in the beginning being apart. It let us find ourself......It was
fun in class together as we were older to compete with each other. My
brother-yes he's a guy and I'm a gal and the DUMBEST question we were
asked was--Are you identical--duh... is a bit bashful , but not I...Guess
going our separate ways early forced me to be bold....Barb-the OLDEST
hehe-but poor mom by 43 minutes no less.

I was RAK'd by Glenyce's Mom too! I got some wallpaper samples,
a tiny wallpaper envy and some sticker paper. Thanks!!
Also I had a GREAT mail day! Everything I got was rubberstamp
related! I got my free UM from Commotion - you know that offer
from a long time ago - well I didn't pick a name stamp since my
name wasn't one of the choices, so they sent me Pegasus - the
horse with wings. Better than a name! I got a birthday card
from a friend (not on this list) who I taught some stamping
techniques to and she sent it in a gorgeous wallpaper envy! I
got some stamps from Rachel Kline I had traded for, and a grab
bag from Hansen Art for sending them the Moochas Grassias card
they put on the web page (Moochas Grassias Jodi and Mark!), and
my Stamp Francisco catalog and Ju D Gar Land stamp from Wenonah,
and last but not least some glossy postcards from RBBB! Whew!

went to Giggles house.... It got better then, rubber was flying, new
methods discussed and like a bunch of fanatics, we wanted more. Dessert
was Cherry Cheesecake, Strawberry cheese cake and chocolate cake with fudge

wonderful time. Maybe next year....
Congrats on your nuter mobile getting on the news!! Lets hear it for the

Why would you think it is in their best interest to be seperated at
school or anywhere else for that matter? I think the special
relationship between twins, their own language, their knowning
when the other one needs them--even over the miles-- should be
allowed to develop to it's fullest.

No, it's not just California. I live in the Oklahoma City area and when
my son started kindergarden last year I cried with pride that he is so
big now and with sadness that his full-time days with me are over.
As soon as I walked back to the car the panic attacks set in. You see,
we in this area are well aware that it's very important to say, "I love
you." one more time before you say goodbye. I hovered around his school
for weeks as I did my errands and every day chores. I don't think I'll
ever feel safe again while my family is not all under the same roof.

Your timing couldn't have been better. I came home Saturday, after spending
14 hours helping someone move to find your package. THANK YOU!!
The boys say "Thank you for the coloring books" One of them wanted to take
it to school today, but I told them the teacher might not like that on the
1st day of school.
The wall paper envelopes are GORGEOUS. That is some of the prettiest wall
paper I have ever seen. I love the way it shimmers. My mail will look great
in these envelopes.
Thank you for the Imaginations, Heart and Homes and DJ Inkers catalogs. I
have a couple of Imaginations stamps but have never seen the catalog. I will
really enjoy these catalogs.
Again, Thank You for the package....the timing was perfect!!!!

I had a wonderful time at Stampaway as well, but there were some things
that put a damper on the experience.
I was trading pins with a newbie and we asked another lady if she would
like to trade, and she said she wanted to see ours first, because hers
were detailed and she spent alot of time on them and only wanted to trade
for really good pins. I also heard a group talking about how they
weren't getting half as nice pins as they gave and were going to be more
selective. I think that's terrible. And what a discouragement to a
newbie who is really trying, not to mention how it makes stampers look.

Subject: RS: Glad to be back!
Wow! Sure did miss all you guys...
First of all a heartfelt thank you for my wonderful SS, Melissa Moon...
it was you wasn't it Melissa? She sent me the best package decorated with
all kinds of great fantasy and pagan designs, that included all kinds of
wonderful stuff including a beautiful photo album designed in a medieval
illumination style complete with gold leaf. She also sent me a cosmetology mug,
and some really funky wrapping paper. And, a celtic knotwork heart stamp! I
know that there was other great stuff in there too...and I want to get your
snail addy Melissa, and I deeply apologize for the lateness of this message,
I was internetless all summer long :(
Also, I want to thank the new SS that I recieved a package from, and I
am ridden with guilt that I wasn't able to let Janet know in time what
was going on with my life and how to get ahold of me and tell me who my
new SS was, so Janet, if you are there, you can let me know of an angel
package I can send to help you out!! This package had a crafter's ink pad,
which is something I have wanted everytime I saw it! Plus, some HALO loop
tape, a unmounted stamp, some lovely handmade cards, natural sponges and
makeup sponges (just what I needed) and I am sure many other fabulous things,
all of which were truly appreciated...now that you are sadly not my SS anymore,
*sob* reveal yourself to me so I can make it worth your while *wink*...
Janet, I am truly sorry that we messed up this SS thing, and I would love to
participate when you reassign partners...I had meant to just change my internet
account but it was difficult to get one where I was living at a usable price.
Once again, I am offering to put together an angel package to bail someone else
out!!
As for my life, I worked my butt off for the Aspen Music festival, putting
together
2 beautiful operas and a really strange opera. Our minimum hours per week
was always
more than 80, so I didn't have much time for anything else. I did
reasonably well
keeping up on my mail, but failed miserably at Shauna Poong's mail art exchange,
but expect something interesting before the end of the month. Sorry, but better
late than never.
An interesting thing happened to my husband and I yesterday and today, which
minorly impacts my stamping life. We got "fired" from our volunteer job!!
(Sound familiar Ginny?) We were planning to move to this animal sanctuary to
work full time volunteering for these people (basically sacrificing our entire
lives to their cause, because we believed in what they were doing) My husband
would have been volunteering and working his regular job part time to pay for
our expenses while we lived in a house on their property. We were to move up
there September first, and they told us yesterday that "They had a bad feeling
about us working for them and we were not to come up". Now, personally, if
I had someone who wanted to work on my house and yard forty hours a week,
pay for
their own food and utilities, and just asked for a room in my house that I
wasn't using, I'd have to be nuts not to take them up on it. Now of course,
it goes without saying that the person would have to be reasonably sane and
drug free...Crazy! We are both stunned and pissed that they took so long
(about nine months) to renege on our plans. So, I am unemployed (anyone
want a reasonable costume designer/makeup artist?) and we are trying to
figure out our life's direction once again.
Part of this leads us to Santa Fe this weekend, so, Jody, can we drop in
on you?
Glad to be in touch again
Natasha

Subject: RS: Portland show
Hi, everyone,
I just learned that, due to construction at the Portland airport, it's
going to be extremely difficult (read "impossible") to get myself and
my booth bins from the airport to the hotel. Sounds like I have to
take one shuttle, and then switch to another shuttle, but it's a long
way to the first shuttle. Those of you who have helped at my booth
before realize that this just can't be done without the airport
security confiscating 1 or 2 of my bins. Anyway, here's a desperate
plea for a ride on Friday evening (around 6:30 pm at the curbside near
the biaggage pickup) and return early on Sunday morning (be at the
airport at 6:30 am). I already have a hotel room and offer free
accomodation to anyone who can help (or I can also pay in rubber, if
you prefer).
hugs,
linda

Feathers,
Don't cry! My mom's in Texas and there's not a day that goes by that I
don't need to ask her a question or just talk to her for moral support or
unsolicited advice. I told her this one day and she just started crying
(my mom doesn't cry) . I thought I had done something horrible and she
said, "Yeah, I miss my mom, too." Boy, now I'm crying!
I meant to make you feel better.
New Subject: My husband just left to take our oldest (6 year old son) to
sign up for scouts. I'm amazed that the little bundle that I brought hom
from the hospital (can it really be 6 years ago?) is now this big and
joining scouts! True story: My mom was my older brother's den mother
when he was a scout and my now DH was a part of my brother's troop!
That's how we met many, many years ago!
