  156. I'm having problems with my embossing peeling off the paper.  I am using
  157. Color Box & Paint Pad Inks.  The EP I used is Stamp-N-Stuff (clear
  158. transparent & psychrdelic).  It's peeling off several types of paper: 
  159. Card stock smoothe, card stock w/grooves). 
  160.  
  161. I'm a newbie to all this, any help and/or suggestions would be greatly
  162. appreciated!

  317. Wahoo!  Got my RSM today!  What a surprise because I hadn't even been
  318. thinking about it.  I haven't really gotten into it yet.  Errands and all
  319. today, plus I hurt my back yesterday so grocery shopping and dinner preps
  320. are taking twice as long.  But later on tonight - watch out!  I'm going
  321. to be burning eyeball tracks all over that thing.
  322.  
  323. But I want to comment on something.  I know there's been a lot of
  324. discussion in stamping circles about using copiers with stamping and
  325. everyone has a different opinion, but I would love to hear what you all
  326. think about this month's cover.  Its pretty, but it seems she used a
  327. 2"x3" stamp to make her cover art.  Enlarged it a great deal and then
  328. added a border.  
  329.  
  330. To me this is pretty much the equivalent of blowing up one of our usual
  331. size cards to put on this large magazine's cover. 
  332.  
  333. I guess what I'm trying to say is that this month's cover is
  334. disappointing to me. 
  335.  
  336. I look forward to seeing what people do with their stamps given such an
  337. unusually large format and have been pleasantly surprised and inspired by
  338. almost all the RSM covers I've seen so far.( Last month's cover was just
  339. wonderful. I love how she used space and distance so effectively)  So
  340. regardless of my feelings of this one, that's quite a track record.  But
  341. imo, this cover could just as easily have been one of the centerfold
  342. submissions blown up to fit.  Which is not to say that the centerfold
  343. cards RSM chooses aren't wonderful works of art, they are.  I just expect
  344. a large stamped work to grace each issue's cover.
  345.  
  346. Yup, my back hurts, I can't walk too well and I'm cranky.    So of course
  347. I'm nattering about the cover.
  348.

  697. I finally found the book that talked about using these markers.  They do 
  698. come in a set and you can only use the "eraser" marker on the other 
  699. markers in the set.  They are made by "Pentech", but I can't find them 
  700. in any stores.  Does anyone have a clue how to get in touch with the 
  701. "Pentech" company?  They have a cool idea in this book to color in an 
  702. area (like an oval through a stencil or template) with one of the color 
  703. markers.  Then take the "eraser" pen and color directly on the stamp. 
  704. Then stamp onto the shape you colored in and it will make a white stamp 
  705. on a colored shape.  It almost looks like a cameo or Wedgewood.  It is 
  706. really cool!  Anyone have any ideas?

  731. I have received many questions about this *ghosting* I mentioned and
  732. about what I was trying to achieve with my small collection of bold
  733. stamps so here is the information I have...........
  734.  
  735. My limited understanding of ghosting ( and I stress limited ) is that
  736. you
  737. emboss clear EP over clear pigment ink and then do watercolor washes
  738. over it.....The wash will not stick to the embossed image so it looks
  739.  whited out or if the paper is patterned you will see the pattern ....
  740. A card was
  741. done using it in the new Stampin' UP catalog. Perhaps someone else that
  742. has worked with this technique can explain it a little better.
  743.  
  744. Since backgrounds are my passion I also have been playing with color
  745. washes.....using bold stamps to take off some of the color and then
  746. painting the same or different bold stamps and stamping them
  747. intermittently to produce color variances. It creates a sophisticated
  748. look for backgrounds.
  749.  
  750. Now, doesn't this whet everyone's appetite for the watercolor
  751. background swap????

  1109. I was RAK'd not once but twice on the same day!!
  1110. My very first RAKs ever!!!

  1114. This is a very nice effect.  Is the top layer just

  1250. It sure has kept me pretty busy these last few days.  Getting ready.
  1251. Don't want to overwhelm them, but I've got so much to share from this
  1252. list and all my good friends here.

  1254. Guess I'll show them some copies of cards I've made (especially the ones
  1255. that have been in VSN and RS), and a selection of swap cards I've
  1256. received, some books and magazines.

  1258. I really want to get this off to a good start.  Most of the gals are
  1259. fairly novice, and I think I can help to addict them fairly easily.  I've
  1260. had some rubber made up with our CC logo and a couple of other special
  1261. stamps too.  Mounted them on HALOS for them.  I'm not giving them acrylic
  1262. mounts tho.  I've put hook tape onton some old foam mounts and they can
  1263. use that for their 5 HALO mounted stamps.  That'll "hook" them for sure,
  1264. huh?
