AH! This was the best tip I got when I first joined the list. I
was only on the list about a month when I had to RUN to the
carson convention to get Halos (nope, didn't even take my car).
You know those page protector thingies you can get in office
supply stores? Get some of those. On white paper, stamp the
image in black. Fill the page with images in whatever categories
you like - I do mine by company, most seem to do them by
subject. Then, you put that paper into the page protector, put a
piece of hook tape on the plastic, on top of the image. and
stick the UM on there when you aren't using it. You can then
store all your UM's in a notebook! It is a dream come true.
Works like a charm. No worries about where to store all those
doggone stamps!

Not to scare you, but don't hold off too long in calling the doctor!
This isn't something to mess with! I had somewhat the same procedure
about 10 years ago (mine was for pre-cancerous cells) - and had alot of
bleeding and almost ended up in the hospital. They ended up having to
do more of the freezing (cryotherapy) to stop the bleeding. You should
have some bleeding, similar to a heavy menstal cycle only.
Call that doctor!
Lynette
(p.s. the pain you felt when it 'thawed' - very similar to labor pains!
Also, make sure they check you for scarring next time you go in for a
checkup - the scarring is what kept me from having natural childbirth -
I was told if it had been discovered early on, that my cesarean might've
been avoided.)

Meridee,
Acey Deucy puts out a beautiful goddess-type image called "Awaiting"
that to me is just perfect--very subtle and suggestive rather than
screaming pregnant. It's a woman wearing a huge billowing dress, with a
clockface and lots of texture in the background. I used it in the "I
never thought it could happen to me" CAYA swap (along with images of
baby bottles and rattles...).
It's image #913.
Hope this helps,

Wow! What a fun birthday surprise--and it's not even my birthday yet
(well at least for a few more days--then I'll be 24!!!). What a cute
package. I really liked the clear pop bottle full of fun confetti, candles,
streamers, glitter, etc. I'm sure the mailman (well, sometimes it's a
woman) got a kick out of it.
Okay, so I still don't have it narrowed down to who you are yet, but I
know that you're from a place that is a lower altitude than here. When I
opened up the bottle (was I supposed to do that?) it sounded like I was
opening up a full bottle of soda because it fizzed because of the
airpressure difference. hhhhmmmmm. That kind of narrows it down, but
I'm still clueless to who you are. Oh well, December will be her soon
enough and then the torture will be over. I'm no good at surprises, but I'll
last. This sure is fun!!
Thanks again.

Subject: RS: Taking Rubber Off Wood Mounts
Okay, I've been re-arranging my stamp area and once again, I find
myself VERY tempted to take all my stamps off wood mounts and go UM all
the way. Probably 75% of mine are UM anyway.
I would love to hear from anyone who has taken the dies off wood
mounts. Are you sorry that you did it? Did you leave any on wood
mounts? Are there any that you wish you had left on? If you had it to
do over again, would you?
At this point, I guess I am really looking for someone to talk me out of
this idea. I love the look of wood mounts, but mine are right by a door
in photo trays. I have tried to minimize the light that gets to them,
but that is one of my concerns. Space and uniformity are other
concerns.
Any advice or experiences would be appreciated!

I apologize for not thanking everyone sooner for coming to stamp at my house
on Thursday. It was great to meet "Katchoo" and "Buttonqueen" - of course, I
already knew Ant Judy, Stampher2 and Barclay, aka "Rubberhubs".
In case the rest of you guys didn't know it, we had a "stamp-a-thon" at my
house to get us all geared up for the Pigeon Forge convention. This was not
the usual stamping session - I had asked that everyone come prepared to demo
or teach a hands-on technique to everyone else - didn't want us all to be
acting like it was a feeding frenzy and not really get anything out of the
day. WOW! Did we ever learn a lot!
Buttonqueen (Pat Vidal) taught us how to make a star book - way cool! She
said it would only take 5 minutes to do - it probably would have if we didn't
have to keep interrupting with chit-chat. What a simple little technique and
it looks so neat! Pat also gave all of us some of her "crazy wire" - Thanks,
Pat!
Katchoo (Colleen McMahon) showed us how to eraser carve - this is something
I've been wanting to do for a long, long time! Could not believe how EASY it
is! Now we all know why old men whittle - eraser carving is very similar and
it's so relaxing! Colleen, you'll be pleased to know that we stopped at the
Dollar Tree on the way to Pigeon Forge and I bought a bag full of those $1.00
erasers - can't wait to get started!
Thanks!
Stampher2 (Lisa Wynn - my daughter) demonstrated the Fred Mullet "fish" stamp
- - she's really made some gorgeous cards with this! The one she did for her
dad's birthday is going into a frame - too pretty to just sit around and
gather dust! She also showed us some nifty new technique using Judi-Kins new
glaze EP - if you have the chance to see it demonstrated - you will all have
a fit - really cool! Thanks, Lisa!
Barclay (Rubberhubs) taught us how to make laminated paper - "sandwiching"
potpourri between two pieces of mulberry paper. This is great for using in
collages or as the "pane" in a windows stamp. It's amazing to see how simple
a technique is and how beautiful the finished product is. Thanks, Barclay!
Ant Judy showed us how to mask - now I know a lot of you think this is a
really simple, basic technique but even us experienced stampers still have a
problem doing it. Now I know what I've been doing wrong all this time!
Thanks, AJ!
Me? I did the old tried and true triple embossing - my favorite technique.
If anyone is interested, the instructions are on Angelhrt's web page under
tips and techniques. I showed everyone how to stamp on a candle. This was
written up in RSM several issues ago but I "just never got it" until it was
demoed to me - so easy! Since AJ and I picked up some 8" scented candles for
$.24 - what better way to make some inexpensive and elegant Christmas
gifts????
Thanks again to everyone for coming - I really enjoyed the day! Hopefully,
we can do this again before the Atlanta show in November. Remember, we're
going to do a monthly swap (thanks for the address, Pat) - if you have a new
technique, don't forget to include directions!

Subject: RS: TAN Mary Popins
Mary Poppins was travelling home but due to worsening weather, she decided to
stop at a hotel for the night. She approached the receptionist and asked for
a room for the night.
"Certainly madam", he replied curteously.
"Is the restaurant open still?" enquired Mary.
"Sorry, no", came the reply, "but room service is available all night.
Would you care to select something from this menu?"
Mary smiled and took the menu and perused it.
"Hmm, I would like hmmm cauliflower cheese please", said Mary.
"Certainly madam", he replied.
"And can I have breakfast in bed?" asked Mary politely.
The receptionist nodded and smiled.
"In that case, I would love a couple of eggs please...poached", Mary mused.
After confirming the order, Mary signed in and went up to her room for the
night.
The night passed uneventfully and next morning Mary came down early to check
out. The same guy was still on the desk.
"Morning madam..sleep well?"
"Yes thank you", Mary replied.
"Food to your liking?"
"Well, I have to say the cauliflower cheese was exceptional, I don't think I
have had better. Shame about the eggs tho..they really weren't that nice at
all", Mary replied truthfully.
"Oh..well perhaps you could care to contribute these thoughts to our Guest
Comments Book. We are always looking to improve our service and would value
your opinion", said the receptionist.
"OK I will...thanks!" replied Mary...who then checked out, paused a while,
then scribbled a comment into the book. Waving, she left to continue her
journey.
Curious, the receptionist picked up the book to see the comment Mary had
written.
It read...
"Supercauliflowercheesebuteggswerequiteatrocious !!!"

I'm going to break down and buy a set of Prismacolor pencils and I'm doing
some price shopping. Anyone out there carry them? I want the big set, 120
pencils I think. Oh heck, if there's a bigger one I'll take it! I'm
checking Nasco and Dick Blick and Daniel Smith and all those but I'd rather
support a list vendor if possible.
Thanks bunches,

OK... this is a soap box item for me. EVERY SINGLE CARD THAT ARRIVES AT MY
HOUSE HAS BEEN WONDERFUL. Of course some are more technically proficient
than others. But all, and I do mean ALL, have taught me something and I
treasure them all because of that. A newbie swap may make you feel more
secure, but at least for me, you can join any swap I'm in and I'd be
delighted to get one of your cards.

I forgot, when I was tellin' 'bout my awesome day yesterday, that I'd gone
in to walden to try and snag one of those books Katchoo was tellin' us
about. They didn't HAVE any. the nerve of 'em. But they did have a Waldo
Poster Book for 2.98.. which I snagged, thinkin' now this would make some
awesome envys and background papers.. and the price was right!
don't you think that's gonna make some awesome envys and background papers?
catch is, turns out there's some waldo pictures there that aren't in the
books (who knew?) so I gotta wait til they're all properly poured over..
and then we decided that those things would also make some pretty awesome
book covers.. so.. I dunno how many of 'em I'm actually gonna be able to
use.. rofl!
sure wish they'd had that other book though!

Subject: RS: recycling cat food cans
I realize this subject came up about a month ago. I've been trying to
sort the directions out so they would make some sort of sense. And just
in time for Halloween.
Pumpkin Baskets
We took several empty cans, all sizes and shapes, poked two holes
opposite of eachother near the top rim. Spray paint orange. let dry.
We then flecked black and white paint on with toothbrushes to add a
little "antique" look. Then painted a jack-o-lantern face on them. Tie
a wire through the two holes to make a basket. Stuff the bottom of the
can with raffia, and fill the rest with candy. We then tied a raffia
ribbon on to the wire handle. I thought these turned out quite well, a
frien of mine even sold several at a craft show.
We also thought of several variations:
Painting a small sliced olive can black, adding black felt ears, and
painting the face white with fanges to make a bat.
painting the can white, add bunny ears, and paint a bunny face.
paint a tuna can green, fill with jelly beans.
The possibilties are endless, enjoy!
