***Tips & Techniques for Liquid Applique:
Use Embossing Tool to Puff Liquid Applique up. Wait until
its dry for a
smooth puffed look, or heat right away for a bumpy puffy
texture.
White Liquid Applique is great for Snow or Bubbles(I
sprinkle ultra fine
crystal glitter over it after I puff it up).
I use the brown on the centers of my Sunflower Stamps with
FunFlock,
makes it puffed up with a bumpy texture just like a real
Sunflower.
Use your brayer to roll on a fine layer of Liquid Applique,
heat and you
have a Suede texture. Try mixing white with other colors for
different
shades of colors.

What a lovely package from Phil this week. This is one of the few times =
I've gotten fun mail at the office. Usually it's all work related which =
does not equate to fun.
Phil included some beautiful tissue paper, and a great large unmounted.
Thanks Phil for the very sweet gift and for remembering secretaries.

Sharon,
Welcome!! You definitely have real people on line, more than a
family. And you can get some really good bargains on line, better
than in the stores sometime. Especially EVO (Ellen and Dale at
Evolving Images) and RubberD (Wenonah) and make sure you take
advantage of the $5. Halo starter kit from Barbara at Creative
Images. Sorry if anyone feels slighted, but I've had really good
dealings with these ladies. P

I agree with Shannon, on the tone of the message. Although I didn't really
take offense from it. But I was thinking, have you noticed how much more
advertising (on t.v., etc.) is using this plan of attack. They almost
advertise other products by using them in a negative light. Doesn't always
work to their advantage. Sometimes, as in the church you attended, it may
offend you to the point where you may decide against even trying a product
or service.

Subject: RS: COMM: Back issue Grab Bags
Hi!
While going through things getting ready to move, I've found
a bunch of magazines I'd like to sell. I have two priority
mail envelopes stuffed with back issues of RSM, a Rubber
Stamper, a VSN, other verious art and craft magazines.
Together, these are worth $90. I'd like to sell each envelope
for $15, including shipping. They each contain 8 magazines (3
RSMs, 5 others). They are sealed and ready to go and I'll
sell them to the first two people interested.
Let me know if you'd like one (or both!).

Hmmmm. Wonder if I should be AD or COMM in the subject line here....
Iffen ya wanna test out the law, and you have TONS of money, let me know. I'd
like to take one case and retire, and this might be the one. As I stated in
an earlier post.... why bother when crediting the stamp company is SO easy??
Amazingly, most people would save themselves LOTS of time, trouble and legal
fees, if they would use their common sense, and not try to "bend" a rule to
their own advantage.
Seems to me that using someone's image, without the appropriate credit, if
that's what the agreement is when you buy the stamp, is kinda like not paying
attention to the rules. It just isn't that hard to follow rules you agreed
upon. While I view the stamp as a tool, I also view it as just a little bit
more than that. Maybe I just view it that way because I can't draw worth
spit, so if I want a picture on the paper, I gotta use a stamp. If I xerox a
picture from a card like Hallmark, and then color it, cause my office is cheap
and won't buy me a color copier so I can do my crafts at work, does *that*
mean I've created a new creation? I mean.... the copier is a tool of my
artwork, right?? So how come i can't do that? Or hell, what about just
taking it to the color copier next door and copying it, and signing my name
with a flourish to "alter" the image? I'm not positive, but I seriously doubt
that defense is gonna work really well. I don't wanna be sued by Hallmark to
find out. And if I wouldn't do it to someone like Hallmark, why would I want
to do it to someone like, say, Phil?
And sending out someone else's card and passing it off as my original
artwork?? Whatever happened to the Honor Code? In the second grade, when I
had to write my first report, the teacher was pretty explicit about not
copying what was written in the Encyclopaedia, because that would be
plagiarism. I was sooooo impressed by that word. (First big word, yanno).
It just ain't that difficult. That's what I don't get.... I get into enough
trouble all by myself without using my common sense to keep myself out of
more.....

<< I personally would not try and test a law unless I had lots of
money to pay the legal fees some of these companies take their
copyright very serious and have a large staff to make sure that
they are protected.
My old lawyer (now retired) felt that the arguement of a stamp
being a tool would not hold up, but that the legal fees to
defend ones self would be very high, and that most people when
sued would give un on that defense rather fast and try and
come to a settlement that was less costly.
It does not matter what the law is, what counts is who you
are against and how much money they are willing to throw
at their case against you.

They were offering the video for sale (I think it was $29.95). I
imagine they will start stocking it in rental places too.

Pat & Anyone else who might be interested: I just got the skinny on the
Frida stamp from Elaine at Carmen's Veranda. (She was really kind by
the way.) She might be a good person to talk to for anyone doing the
Favorite Famous Artist's Swap (or whatever it's called, exactly). She's
got Georgia O'Keefe and Diego Rivera, too, among others. (Just in case
there's any confusion the Frida stamp IS Carmen's Veranda and *not*
Museum of Modern Rubber -- another good company, though!)

Cyndi, I am making pins, but not for trade. Since Auntie Amy has been
blackballed from the Puyallup and Portland conventions I'm making pins
that say "Where's Amy?"
Don't really have time to make pins. I would need to start them in
January!
