Subject: RS: State/Province/Country Swap Descriptions (long)
Was this ever a good swap to be on the receiving end of!! I am totally
impressed by the talent and all of the hard work that went into each of the
cards from this swap. It is amazing to think that each of you made 50 of
these stunning creations. The cards I were assigned to describe are:
Nova Scotia by Jennifer Decker. Jennifer chose to use 2 contrasting colors of
blue cardstock cut into rectangles and placed in a checkerboard pattern over a
gray cardstock. She stamped and embossed sanddollars, a star fish and a
seahorse on 3 of the rectangles and stamped an under the sea scene over the
4th. Jennifer stamped a representation of Nova Scotia's famous "Bluenose"
over gray cardstock and textured this by running it through the corragater and
then centered this over the checkerboard. This is a super card, very pleasing
and well designed.
California by Penelope Lincoln. Penelope used a piece of contour map to stamp
on....what a great idea. She stamped and embossed in green, a mini forest.
She also stamped some hikers on one corner of the card. One an upper portion
of the card, she stamped and cut out a postoid with a map of California (the
stamper's state) cute stamp...she also colored the postoid. Stamped at the
other upper corner is "I love California, It's the crowds that p... me off"
Very funny! The map was mounted over a gray cardstock. Good job Penelope!
Virginia by Sue Hart: Sue spent alot of time with this card! The front has a
very nice scene of a rolling hill with a road winding into it. She stamped
leaves on the sides as a neat boarder. All of this is either pencil colored
or chalked...can't tell for sure....but is it very lovely. At the bottom of
the road it says: Virgina is for... ( I think this was done on the computer)
When you open the card, you read:....Lovers, The Blue Ridge Mountains, Virgina
Beach Shore and Rubber Stamping. (this is in the upper corner of a 4 part
grid) Stamped and delicately chalked or colored on the other 3 parts of the
grid are: The Blue Ridge Mountains, a Bride and Groom, and a lighthouse
complete with a glittery dolphin confetti glued on. Well done Sue....this is
a super card!
Ohio by Michelle Oakley: This card was done simply and is a super card.
Michelle used a beautiful red cardstock to feature the stamp she chose. She
stamped a representation of "Ohio, the Buckeye State" on a cream colored
cardstock, and colored in just enough red to coordinate with the red cardstock
on the banner with "the buckeye state" on it. She layered this over a
rectangle of brown cardstock and set the featured stamp off centered to give
it just the right amount of interest! This was very well done
Michelle....great job with the design of this one!
I also chose a few favorites to describe. When I went through the stack of
cards picking out my favorites, I had a huge stack....but decided I needed to
get to bed before midnight tonight...so I ended up picking four!
I love the Arizona Card made by Sue Bentley. Did you use crafter's ink to
stamp on the metal? The pot on the front of the card is georgous, and the
added beads on the string attatched to this give it just the right touch. This
is a superb card!
The England Card by Mary Claypool is breathtaking. I wish all of you could
have seen every card Mary made. Each card was a unique creation. I have one
that features a Princess Diana postage stamp, and gold embossed teacups.
Every card has some English chocolate (which as a Canadian I know is terrific)
I love the touch of adding the coins and mine has collaged on it a part of a
doily and a tea box. Mary....I hope I get to be in another swap with you
sometime!!
The Texas Card by Sherie Evers impressed me very much. I can't believe the
time you must have spent shrinking all of the shrinky pieces you glued to the
front of the card....and then....you open the card to a big surprise....a pop-
up featuring the map of Texas! This is one terrific creation.
The Tennesse card created by Dotswood is absolutely fantastic....The colors
chosen and the effort made to create this stunning card amaze me. I love the
added benefit of the guitar pick....what a terrific idea! Elvis done black on
black is stunning. This card is very effective and I was very impressed by
it.
Thanks to each and everyone of you for the terrific time you took to make
these cards. I have entered a few swaps, and I think this swap had the
highest amount of quality cards of any of the swaps I entered!! Way to go
everyone!
Hugs to all, and good night (whew it is only 11:00 pm)
Cindy

Subject: RE:RS: Brownies-the swap!
With all the talk about brownies lately (the kind you eat, that is), I'm
reminded to post descriptions--belatedly, since I was away for spring break
last week. Anyway, thanks to AlphaBecky for hosting this fun swap!
from Stampracer--a neat winter scene postcard; three little brownies
stamping on down the road with the saying "Hi Ho, Hi, Ho, It's Off to Stamp
We Go". On the back is announcement for stamp club meeting and "Happy Trails
to you, Until We Stamp Again".
Ann Sipe--a lively frog is jumping over brownies collecting apples on this
cute card!
Paula Sigman Lowery--wow! a beautiful stampscapes scene with the brownies
dancing and jumping on boulders in the moonlight. Great idea!
Miriam created a fantastic trick card-I'm not sure what it is called, but
it's really neat!! Brownies are sitting on top of and looking at a TV.
Through the acetate screen is a scene of brownies dancing against a yellow
background. When the tab at the bottom is pulled down, the scene changes to
brownies playing musical instruments on an orange background. "Brownies go
with everything" is stamped on the top. Awesome!
DK Stoneman--two brownies lifting a pocket watch on this dark sage postcard.
They are surrounded by a lower case alphabet and the saying "If falling in
love is anything like learning how to spell, I don't want to do it. It
takes too long." I especially like the way the face of the watch is done on
acetate (?) and finished with gold-great card!
Thank you all for the wonderful cards!

My grandmother will be 88 on May 5th. She had injured her back twice last
year and is now house bound. However, her mind is still sharp as ever. Her
doctors didn't even think that she'd last this long.
I would like to make this B-day a very special one for her. Please help me by
filling her mailbox with B-day greetings. Please email me for her address.

Subject: RS: Re: San Diego Stamp Stores (long)
Hi Sheila (and any one else interested) :
These are solely my opinions on the stores. The offer still stands on going
out to lunch, let me know. If you need anymore info, please feel free to
e-mail me, ok? I have already met 5 list members that have came to San
Diego for some reason or another (Sarah West-actually she lives here, Jody
Morrison, Nancy Lynn, Eva Koyama, and Kelly Haga), if you would like to
e-mail them for a reference+ANw-
Sharie Rose Soriano
Here are the directions to my favorite stores in San Diego:
Stamp La Jolla (formerly of La Jolla, now of Santee)
This is by far the biggest store in San Diego (accessory wise and
stamp wise), the owner Maryann is very nice, tell her I sent you, she gets a
kick out of it+ACE- I have brought 3 list members there already and they enjoy
meeting new people especially out of towners +ANw-.
Take the 5
Exit 52 freeway EAST
Take it all the way to the end
This turns into Mission Gorge Road
Mission Gorge Road turns into Woodside Avenue
Stamp La Jolla is on the right side in between the Iowa
Porker and Casa Picante
Stamp Diego in Rancho San Diego
The owner here is Jenny and she is also a nice lady. This store has
a nice selection of mostly cute stamps. I have taken 1 list member here and
she really enjoyed herself.
Take the 5
Take the 805 South
Exit 94 EAST ALL THE WAY to the END
You will end up near a Ralph's shopping center
Stamp Diego is in that complex next to the Blockbuster Video
Stamp Heaven in La Mesa
Mary Alice is the owner here and she is a really nice, too and very helpful.
This store has a lot of accessories and cute type stamps, too.
Take 5 South
Take the 8 East
Exit Main Street and go right at the light
Make an almost immediate LEFT on Marshall
Make a LEFT on Fletcher Parkway
Go the very top of the hill
Stamp Heaven is on the RIGHT side next to the 7-11
Stampaholics is in Old Town
John has mostly animal type stamps there. This is kind of close to where
you will be. If you need exact directions, I can get them for you.
There is also a stamp store in Seaport Village. I don't go there, it is
more expensive than the other stores. But of course, the scenery is nice...

Don't know how many of you have had one of these put down your throat,
but as one who had--I woke up from a bungled surgery to this and many
other tubes in me, my hands tied down and my family looking extremely
scared. Thanksfully I only had it in a couple days but It's not exactly
a fond memory.

I have a microfleur and I like it. Not only does it dry the flower
quickly, the color is much brighter, more intense. Reds don't turn into
browns; they stay bright red red. I do ferns and herbs too and they stay
green green.

Can you see through the brown flocking? What about the white? I want to
stamp a cat and then apply flocking to the image. Can you stamp directly on
the flocking? Is this the fine flocking or does it have larger pieces that
you can see? Lastly, what would be shipping on 2 bottles of flocking?
Thanks! What company are you affiliated with?
Kathy
>>
Kathy,
If you use a thin coat of glue then the flocking is transparent. White glues
hold more flocking and make it more opaque. It is fine, almost dust like.
Shipping would depend on where you live. 2 bottles, I would estimate about
$1.50. I always try to charge shipping based on your zone.
As for my company, I own a small rubber stamp shop in Dedham, Maine called
Cabin Gardens Art Rubber Stamps. I currently stock stamps form 37 companies
and stock a large variety of stamping supplies, papers, and card stocks as
well. If you'd like a list of the stamp companies I carry e-mail me privately
at CabnGardn@aol.com and I'll send you a list.
Thank You,

Hope you don't mind but just had to add Jody's address to
this so that they can find the cookbook before they are
all gone. They are only $15.00 each and I'm still throwing
in 3 templates until the templates are gone.
