oh... let's add Debi-Ellen to the list of suspects. She is all of a sudden
*VERY* interested in acquiring some of the evidence (i.e. said truffles,
a.k.a. exhibit A).
We now have a Public Defender on the case (who is graciously handing out moist
towellettes to everyone). Let the jury selection begin...

My oldest stamp is....14 years old. An ANM teddy bear a friend gave me (I
didn't get the stamping bug for another decade!). I'm using it now on baby
announcements. The rubber is a little dry to the touch, but it stamps
perfectly. I'm not one of those people who cleans their stamps. I try to
justify it from an early article I read by someone at ANM. I clean them if I
use something really strong--like I used a fabric ink that actually I had to
clean off because it caked when it dried. Or I clean if I'm going to a
really light ink like yellow. If my stamps disintegrate, I may regret it,
but so far my most used and abused stamps are still chugging along fine!

Subject: Re: RS: Convention pin display
Dee and everybody
I made a really neat display for my lifelong collection of buttons (concert,
campaign, Movie, etc.) I took a piece of polyester felt about half a door
length, about 3 1/2' long. I also used a wooden dowel and a piece of string.
I put a slit on each end of the dowel, enough so the string will slide through
it. I folded the felt over about an inch and glued it down, just as long as
the dowel will slid through the fold. After the glue dries slid the dowel
through, and cut about 2 feet of string and fit it in the dowel slits and tie
a knot in each end so it does'nt slide through.
You can make it as large/small, fancy or decorate anyway you like. I cut mine
with some pinking shears to get a fancy edge, you could also use fabric paint
and make designs. Mine is completly full now I should have made it longer.
I have it hanging over a bedroom door on the outside of it and it still
closes. I just put a small nail on the inside of the door and loop the string
over it.
I hope you can understand my directions, I'v been intending to do another one
of these for my convention pins.

Try putting a windup clock in the bed with him. It reminds him of his
mama's heart beating when he was in the womb and close to her right after
birth. Seems to sooth puppies and kittens - even human babies.

Subject: RS: Mom's Taxi Found
Ruth and Jan,
I don't know if this is exactly what you are looking for, but in my
catalog for California Rubber Stamp Co.,Inc. there is a stamp called
Queen of The Taxi. It is set in a frame that looks like a ribbon.
There is a mother with a crown on, and she is holding a pennant that
says Taxi. She has three kids and a dog in the car with her. The older
boy is spilling soda out of the convertable car. Around the image are
the words beep, school, games, dentist, piano, car pool. The license
plate is in the shape of a heart and says "Queen Taxi". The stamp is
F8016 for the large (3 1/2" X 3 1/2") and E8017 for the petite (2 1/2" X
2 1/2") I am pretty sure she also makes a stamp that is just a taxi,
but I can't find my supplement that has that info. The price list is
also on there so I can't help with that either. Sorry
Sorry this took so long but I had to look for my catalog. Found it when
I found my Stampscapes catalog too. The info for California Rubber

Subject: RS: TIP - cutting foam core board
TIP: Cutting foam core board using
electric X-acto blade and EVO's layering templates!
I bought a wonderful electric X-acto knife from Rubberchicken Lady a
while back. I used it a few times, and then didn't for a long time. It
has a long shank between the handle and the blade, and I was
uncomfortable with it, and even burned myself on it.
But today I was making up some kits for shaker cards and had to cut foam
core board into 20 pieces of 5.5" x 4.25." and cut out also a center
block
for the opening. Big job for lazy me.
Last week I received my nice, new, wonderful, layering templates from
EVO, and they are great. So, I first drew the 20 blocks using EVO's
layering templates (the largest one for the outside lines and the 3rd
largest for the inside lines). (Got all 20 from one sheet of foam core
board.)
To cut them out, I tried using my very sharp utility knife, but it was
hard and not at all neat work. I thought about hiring my DH to do the
job but he was busy. So I bit the bullet and decided to have a go with
the hot knife.
Well, it went along ok, but was a still a little awkward and tough to
pull through the foam board neatly and evenly until I came up with the
following idea. Maybe it's not new to anyone else, but it is to me.
First I made a light cut/score on the lines through the top layer only of
the foam board's paper. Then I made a second cut all the way through.
The second cut went much smoother and evener (?) since there was already
a scored line for the knife to follow. The second cut went through the
rest of the foam board like it was butter. I just pulled it along - no
sawing motion, just a smooth, sliding motion. Worked great. I didn't
try any curves but I'm sure that they will work just as well.
Of course it did mean making each cut twice, but two EASY cuts is not
only neater and much easier to do than one ragged, messy cut it's also
much faster. I know I'll do it this way from now on.

Barbara - try these things with your numlock key depressed.
Might work. Might not. Mine does only when the numlock key is
depressed, otherwise same as you said.

Subject: RS: Paula Jo's April SSS arrived
My SSS is really spoiling me!!! I got the package today when I went out
to buy the Easter condy & such (yeah, I'm late buying it again this
year!).
I had my 2 sons in the car with me and they were really checking out the
package!!! It has gotten to be a "family thing" when the SSS packages
arrive. The kids enjoy it as much as I do!
In the package, the first thing we saw was 2 big boxes of Peeps and a
set of 6 Easter cookie cutters---guess what the boys want to do
tomarrow!!! LOL The Peeps are great! I haven't had them since I was a
kid!!!
Next was a toy called an "Easter Squeezes". It's a baby chick in the
shape of a ball about 3" diameter. It's made of foam. When you squeeze
it, the chick pops back into it's original shape. Kinda like those
balls for getting rid of stress. Going to keep this by my computer!
There was also some packages wrapped in a beautiful tissue paper. I
love it!!! The first package is a packet of Magic Leaf. I love working
with this stuff and haven't been able to find it locally. Thanks so
much for sending it!!! Next package I opened had a beautiful handbound
book. The front cover is decorated with layers of Wild Fiber (?), a
image stamped on a piece of Mica and a button. The button had me fooled
at first. It looks like a gold colored one, but is actually a clear one
with gold glitter behind it and abit on top of the button. The cover
background is done in black with silver accents.
As I said, it is very beautiful!!! I have an extremely talented SSS!!!
Next in the box were 2 packages containing Native American themed
stamps. I was shocked to see the Kokopelli trio stamp. I looked all
over for a Kokopelli stamp so I could participate in the swap, but
couldn't find one. Someone better host another Kokopelli swap soon
because I'm ready for it this time!!! The second stamp still chokes me
up. It is called "Metamorphosis" by Arizona Stamps Too. The stamp is
large and portrays an indian woman with herarm stretched out. The
out-stretched arm is lost in the image of a running gray wolf. It is
supposed to give the effect of the woman becoming the wolf. It is the
most beautiful stamp I have ever seen. This stamp means alot to me. I
have always had a deep love for wolves. I have always been "drawn" to
them. Even my family thinks this stamp is perfect for me.
Thank you for the precious gift.
Also in the package were 3 more baggies of Embossing Powder. They are
really beautiful. I will have alot of fun playing with all this EP you
have been sending! Embossing is one of my favorite things, so this is
very welcome.
There was also a jar of clear tiny beads. These will work great with
some under water type stamps I have. I can just see them as fish
bubbles! In the bottom of the box was also a package of double-
stick tape. I can always use this! It will get used alot around here.
Especially with all the bookbinding and layering I like to do.
Lastly, (and most exciting to my kids!) in the box bottom was more
Easter candy!!! Hershey Kisses, Reese's Peanut butter eggs and a box of
SweetTart eggs. Kids are already laying odds on who will get what.
VBG!!!
Thank you so much for such a thoughtful and beautiful package. I am
really looking forward to finding out who you are so I can thank you
more directly.
Have a great Easter,
Paula Jo Green

Laura, please count me in. Pern is THE place to be.
In fact, I did some Pernish dragon designs for Applachian Art Stamps,
that would work wonderfully well for this swap. They can be seen (and
purchased from Wendy) on Wendy's site http://www.stampcity.com. Look in
the AAS catalog - plates 108 and 109.
