Oops - I accidentally left out one other kewl card I received in the
Black Paper IV swap. It's from
Annette Cramer!!
I have no idea how she did this one. It's great. She's used various
shades of Pearl-X/Gum arabic and celtic stamps in the design. I must
know how this is done, Annette!!

I know I know! <jumping up and down> Get Evo's layering templates! She has
these great acryclic templates that are in 1/4" or so increments (maybe 1/2,
can't remember), but then you just trace around, cut or tear and poof! perfect
layers!
You gotta get these...e-mail Evo at evo@pobox.com and she'll take good care of
you.

I am aware that there is also a need for premie receiving blankets in many
places, of the softest acrylics and only 9" x 12" to 12" square, sometimes
described as "large enough to wrap a Coke can".

Subject: RS: RUTHANN RUTHANN are you there?
Hi Ruthann...
It's Holly-I think it's been just a little while since I ordered from
you.
I was wondering if I may be so bold. I've gotten a few House Mouse
stamps from you. I just went to the stamp store (I actually NEEDED
something). Anyway...it looks to me that they've come out with a bunch
of new designs that I don't have. I haven't been on the list in a
couple of weeks...but I was wondering...do they have a new flyer? Is
there anyway that you would be able to fax it to me? I'm sure you are a
very busy person, so if you can't I understand. I get paid next week
and was trying to plan ahead a bit...
Anyway, whenever you have a minute if you could let me know if my
request isn't too big...
Thank you so very much and hope your having a very nice Thursday.

Subject: RS: Layering Tips/Techs 8/6/97
I love layering, it is my favorite technique. I do several things with
this:
1. I like to cut images out. Then, I layer a few different colors (to
coordinate) and mount the image in the center, or wherever.
2. I also love to layer with mulberry paper. I tear it out in all
different shapes and layer behind either full sceens or cut outs.
3. I have sometimes cut out wreaths both in and out, and layered over
paper that has a saying stamped in the middle.
4. I also love patterns of paper that I use to add texture and color to my
cards.
I look forward to more ideas as I am still learning...but then, aren't we
all??

What a wonderful package to open....Jutta's Baker's Dozen EP's. These
were great colors and nice big bottles...so glad they came in the little
bottles, too. (I can't control those little plastic bags and have no room
for a ga-zillion bigger containers.)
If you do a lot of SouthWest images like I do you can't live without these
two: Turquoise Silver and Teal.
I got the famous "Shimmering Leaves" (would be great for holly or Xmas
trees) and something wonderfull called "Metallic Medely".
And "Fireworks"...that's neat too.
Also "Azure Mirage" is a color I have been looking for. (PSX's "Cobalt
Tapestry " is just TOO dark.)
Got 7 others too!!!! And a sample of another one.
Thanks so much, Jutta. Can't beat the selection, quantity and price. I
already made up a little sample of each and they are great.
Hoping to order more,
Sandy

From: Kathleen Miller <millerk@eskimo.com>
Subject: RS: Cushion, Paper or Magnets for cards
Last Fall I sent out a message inviting people who wanted free cushion to
mount their ums to trade with me by sending cards for my grandma and aunt
(my grandma had lost her husband recently and my aunt was battling breast
cancer) in exchange for cushion. I was so delighted by those who responded
and sent the most incredible cards - I can't tell you how much joy they
brought these two special ladies.
Well Spring is here and although my Aunt has successfully completed chemo
she was informed recently that she'll have to go through targeted radiation
treatment just to make sure that they got all the cancer cells. She was
hopeful she could return to work in April and this set back has her feeling
alittle blue. My grandma is doing better but Spring also brings back lots
of memories of working in the garden with my grandfather and fishing
together - their favorite activities. I also now have a friend who is going
through a very nasty separation from an abusive husband who also needs
support and the hope of a better future.
So... I'm hopeful I can enlist some more "angels" to make some cards. In
exchange you can choose from among the following that I have to offer:
Cushion
Magnets
Wax seals - I'll make you some and also send instructions - I'm teaching
this as part of the Magic Folding Book class that I'm teaching later this
month with Rona Chumbook (Paper Crafters editor) at the Letter of Joy
conference in Edmonds. I've found an easy way for making and keeping
beautiful seals. For those of you that love an "old fashioned" elegant look
to your correspondence, you'll love these seals.
If you are interested, email me back directly (I'm still unsubscribed -
sorry - my communications business, Blue Emu Communications fills my email
inbox to overflowing so I had to give up the list for awhile), tell me what
you are most interested in and I'll send you instructions on what to send
me. Robin's "endorsement" of the cushion follows my signature line in case
you are curious about that. Take care! And thanks again to all the
wonderful people who participated in the swap last Fall.
Kat Miller
millerk@eskimo.com
Here is the "story of the cushion" - you fellow recycling nuts will love it. :)
I have an offer for FREE CUSHION that those of you who mount your own ums
may be interested in. My company went through a major downsizing here in
Seattle this year - moving all corporate functions, including my job in
marketing, to Virginia. So as of 12/1 I've been on severance. In the
process of cleaning out our downtown offices much that could not be
recycled or would not be of use to the organization in Virginia was tossed
away. Like many of you I'm a recycling nut and when I saw that boxes of
mouse pads were about to be thrown away (they were used to promote products
or services we no longer offer) I asked to take them home - hopeful that I
could find some use for them besides sitting in a landfill for the rest of
my life. Turns out these mousepads make great cushion when you remove the
top - I sent samples to Robin "Ma Vinci" and here is her endorsement and
instructions how to use them:
"These mouse pads are FABULOUS!!!!! I can't believe how great they are!
I want them ALL, ALL, ALL!!! Only kidding...I do want a LOT though!
Take a look at them for yourself, too, not that you're going to be mounting
stuff on your own! The smaller one, the one called the photo pad, that stiff
photo part peels right away and leaves a sticky backed cushion -- PERFECT!! I
LOVE this!! I'll take ten trillion of them... :o) The other one is also
wonderful. If you work at it just a little, and peel it carefully, the
fabric top peels away on it as well. It's not left with any sticky stuff,
but it's perfect for use with rubber cement. I swear, I don't know how
many of these you actually have, but I want a TON of it!! I'll pay
shipping, of course!! These are WAAAAYYYYY cool! Perfect squishiness (is
this a word?), perfect thickness. I LOVE these!!"
Well there you have it from a talented lady who knows what she is talking
about. Hope some more of you will take me up on my offer - let's use this
stuff and keep it out of landfills!
