I can only be here a few minutes - too much moving around and I'm queasy +
the pain meds have me kinda foggy. I'm not reading everything ... but did
follow the thread about racist-type humor.
So, today I thought the list had some great posts about questionable
humor. I do have to wonder, though, where all those of tender conscience
were when I was taking a flaming for objecting to the "joke" that had the
f-word in about every one of 20 lines. Filth is ok, but racism is not,
sexual jokes are not???
I don't think of myself as a bitter person ... but if one thing put a bad
taste in my mouth, it was people reminding me that this was an open forum,
that I, myself, had objected to censorship, plus other not-so-nice things
said because I *objected* to the indiscriminate use of the F-word filth on
the list. So, where were ye of tender conscience then? By the way, some
wrote to me privately and were very supportive ... and to those, I say
"thanks"! The person who sent the distasteful missile hasn't been around
for awhile; and I, for one, have not missed that brand of "humor."
And it *really* galled me that I had been one who had previously vehemently
objected to religious-type posts. In the absence of those, it didn't take
long for the filth to come out, and show it's ugly face.
Sounding of and signing off ... back to the couch - gotta get the foot up
(and out of my mouth).

Subject: RS: Mother Daughter Tea
How about pots, baskets, or whatever of live pansies for centerpieces.
African violets, anything purply pinkish, those colors always bring to
mind teas. It would be really lovely if you could have lace or lacy
tablecloths--maybe over a colored underskirt. Stamp pansies, violets,
etc on sculpey for little favors (get lots of help for lots of work)
Gold accents on things also seem to be appropriate for tea. Ivy vines
would also be pretty--maybe coiled in the center and the pots of flowers
set in the middle. Primroses are also pretty and available this time of
year. As for a game--who could come up with the most purple, blue and or
pink flowers. Making up as many words as possible from primroses, or
African violets, etc. I'm not too good in the games dept.
An English garden would be a wonderful decorating theme--trellises,
arbors, trees with birdhouses (I have three adorable bird house box
patterns I could send) We hung them in a fake ficus, had a birdbath,
etc. for a wedding with a garden theme. You could use a bunch of
people's Christmas trees in among some other fake trees and flowers. Saw
a cute flower bed made with a birdbath in the middle on some fake grass,
then all kinds of pots of flowers around at the edge of the grass for a
border, and little white picket fencing around the very edge.
Have fun--too bad we're not all there to help you decorate!!!

do not like the crumpled look, but prefer the smooth

Wow! What a card! This Easter Card is so darling that I just know I'm
going to mess it up trying to describe it to you but here goes:
On blue card stock she has layered with a piece of light striped
wallpaper and then layered a bunny on white card stock cut out to look
like a house. This bunny is sitting in flowers and then she has a pretty
printed ribbon with a Easter Basket charm hanging from it and on the
other side she has "Do you know what came before the Easter Bunny????"
On the inside is, "The Egg-silly girl." Tee Hee! This is so cute!
Thank you for such a wonderful RAK!
Giggles to you always!

Subject: RS: Card Request! For My Grandma!!
Hi Everyone!
My poor 81 year old grandmother had an accident a couple days ago and
wrecked her car and as injuried her back and will be bedridden for
while. This is a woman that still lives alone and takes care of herself
and has a sharp mind, so for her to have to lay around and do
practically nothing is going to be very hard on her and I'm sure some
cards would sure cheer her up. She herself has made a few cards with my
mom and my supplies and enjoys coloring them in.. If anyone has the
extra time to do this I would really appreciate it and it would mean
alot to my grandmother (Sylvia). Please e-mail me for her address,
thanks so much for reading this!=)--

Here is an update for this swap!!!! We are starting to get some neat =
signups. Come one everyone, you all know a technique that you can share =
with the others. This will only be successful if we get a wide range of =
ideas in the book!=20
Duplicates of some technique would be ok, such as Pearl Ex - there are =
lots of different things you can do with it. You might want to email the =
other person to make sure you are doing different things.
I will break the book into three catagories:=20
1. card making techniques (shaker cards, flinger cards, pop up cards, =
stained glass cards, etc)=20
2. stamping techniques (aluminum, velvet, shrink plastic, water, air =
etc)=20
3. other techniques such as backgrounds, paper making, watercolor, =
chalk, dry embossing, etc.,=20
=20
SWAP: The Technique Book Swap
HOSTESS: Kimberlee "The Hockey Widow" kdick@bc.sympatico.ca=20
DETAILS:=20
1.You choice:
a. a small sample of your technique for each participant. This will =
mean that you will recieve a sample for every technique in your book. =
This is the most popular idea. It will be great to have all these =
examples.=20
b. 6/5 or 11/10 or 21/20 (yes some have already said they want to =
send 20!) cards using the technique that you are submitting=20
=20
2. You also send an black and white 8 1/2"x11 page that gives =
instructions on how to do your technique (if you send cards, please =
describe how to make the card). It has been asked that we decorate this =
sheet however we want. I would like everyone to put thier name on it and =
a little bit about themselves, other than that do whatver you want. =20
=20
WHAT YOU RECEIVE: You will recieve a booklet (I will supply the duotangs =
- - pls dont request colors, I will go nuts!!!) of all the technique =
submitted plus the amount of swaps that you sent (minus the one for the =
hostess)
=20
SIGN UP DETAILS: I will allow signups until April 15th. I will post the =
swap signups every day so that you can see what has already been taken =
and choose a different technique. After the 15th I will no longer be =
taking sign ups (unless I get an emergency drop out and need someone to =
take over that technique).=20
=20
POSTAGE: I will price out the copying costs and will post them asap.
=20
DEADLINE: Postmarked June 1st. The reason the postmark is so far down =
the line is because I want to ensure a good turnout before people start =
making thier items. The booklets will be copied and returned as soon as =
everyone's stuf has arrived. I will not hold this swap!!!
=20
