Yes, aren't they wonderful? Silky. We had a boa (he ain't heavy, he's
my boa)
when I was growing up. I named him Slinky. Real original huh? Six
feet long and as gentle as a kitten. We used to let him out and wander ,
but he always ended up over to my dad and up on his lap where he'd just
curl up. So they sat there and Pop watched tv and petted Slinky and
Slinky just lay there and blissed out. Much like Quark (our new iguana)
does these days when I pet his head and convince him yet again that No,
we are NOT going to eat him.

Subject: RS: Acid Free? Tombow and Marvy
Can someone confirm a rumor for me? I was in a stamping store and saw
Tombows and Marvys listed as acid free and safe for scrapbooking. Now for
all I know this may be true since these markers have been on the market a
lot longer than scrapbooking has been a noun that was changed into a verb.
Thanks for all info.

Subject: RS: SST received!!!!
I received my SST parcel yesterday!! Thank you to my very thoughtful SST -
you made my day!!! Also inspired me to get my act into gear and sent of my
SST parcel too!!
I was very spoilt!!! The theme was sunflowers and it was lovely bright and
light!
In a parcel wrapped in smiling sunflowers I opened to find a bunch of
sunflowers - they are now brightening my study/stamping/craft table -
brightened up my whole room. There were 2 envys with part 1 and part 2 -
part 1 had a little girl raised up behind two sunflowers which had been dry
embossed and coloured. Inside was a lovely message from my SST. The other
envy had a big sunflower embossed, coloured with watercolours and the
background sponged in oranges and yellows - I'm not doing either card
justice - they looked fanastic! - Anyway inside this one was the stencil
template and an embossing tool and the instructions so I can make is one
myself - thanks - I've been wanting to try dry embossing for awhile but
have never taken the plunge!
Attached to each little parcel - wrapped in lovely yellow tissue paper -
some stamped with sunflowers were little chocolate bettles - yummy!! There
was a lovely sunflower tea towel - also too good to use - but sure it will
get a work out in the kitchen soon! In a little pillow box stamped with
sunflowers was some bright yellow ep - haven't seen this colour before but
will come up great!
Some darker yellow card stock with envys and tied in a raffia bow. And the
most exciting thing - a large sunflower stamp - thanks so much.!!!! BTW
Tim and Chris enjoyed the worms!!
Thanks for your thoughtfulness and the time and engry you put into creating
this themed swap!!
I've really apprecaited it - hope your SST treats you real nice

Subject: Re: RS: TAN...April Fool's pranks...
Oooh, I have a really funny one.... first a little background. I used to
babysit for a family with two little kids. Mom didn't like to cook, so I
always made dinner and had it ready when the parents ot home (I was in
high school then and loved to try new menus, etc.) Well, they had an
elderly aunt who was a terrible housekeeper and cook, but a dear sweet
lady. The Dad hated to go to family dinners whre she had made items,
especially after having to eat apple pie at her home one day, and finding
a big long hair in it.... he always said to have her bring oranges and
hard boiled eggs for her contribution! Well, anyway, I made a pie shell,
and I took a whole lot of hair (synthetic) that i pulled out of an
artificial hairpiece that I had. Put that hair in the crust and covered
it with the most luscious, 8" deep layer of meringue, delicately pinted
and toasted. Took it over, and the Dad was ecstatic "Oh, Annie made us
pie! Oh it looks sooo good ...he WAS always very appreciative! THen he
took a knife and cut into it........... you can just imagine how lovely
it was when the knife came out, stringy with long hairs and coated with
meringue!
So...make a hair pie for your friends and family! Yum!

Have to agree with Becci, that sharing the info about "Who done it" is
important! Now, I am oneof those who doesn't have a printer or the
ability to print out labels, but it is pretty easy to have a atmap made
up with your email addy and name on it! (Really saves time..) . I still
have to handwrite in my stamp credits, tho....sigh... one of these days
I will have my own system and be able to do more fun stuff....

Subject: RS:COMM:cancelled postage stamps 3/30/98
I picked up a huge box (like a empty Xerox paper box <G>) of cancelled, mixed
country postage stamps today from my local stamp guy and am sorting through it
today. I have the luxury of his trust, so I can pick what I want and return what
I don't. All are still mostly on paper. Just a preliminary sorting of the top
layer shows quite a bit from the US, Jamaica, Canada, Australia, New Zealand,
Netherlands, Germany and Italy. Some old....some current. Lots of miscellaneous
countries. I can offer these at 6 cents each plus postage dependent upon the
number ordered. You can name the country or continent or topic and I can try to
find what you want. Duplicates will be the norm. No guarantees that I'll be able
to find what you want. I am returning the box on Tuesday, so please let me know
if you are interested in any of these stamps no later than Monday 3/30/98. You
will have to contact me at Haika2@aol.com since I will not be subbed to this
list from work over the weekend.
This will be on the 'honor system'....since I really don't want to be stuck with
stamps I personally don't want. Let me know if you are interested. Depending on
how this works out, we may be able to repeat this periodically.

From: "Chris McEwen" <socrates@sprintmail.com>
Subject: RS: Re: TAN Seattle Area residents, I need info
Don't limit your search for a new home town in Western
Washington State to the east side of the sound. We have a
wonderful, semi-rural quality of life as well as very affordable
housing costs in the West Sound. It is not uncommon to find deer
along the road. Many have to chase racoons from their back
yards. I have Canadian geese and a family of Mallard ducks
living in the grass field across from my home.
Communities to consider are Poulsbo, Keyport (yeah, team!),
Silverdale, Port Orchard, Gig Harbor, Kingston, Bainbridge
Island.
All but Port Orchard have very fine schools. Port Orchard does
as well except the community has been defeating the school
funding levies in the polls consistently. As a result, their
school system is severely threatened. Their single high school
has the largest enrollment in the state. In comparison, Central
Kitsap (Silverdale) has two high schools for fewer students.
All these communities have low crime rates and the streets are
safe.
The scenery is unbelievable, with the Olympic mountains in one
direction, the Cascades in another and Mount Rainier dominating
the southern skyline. These towns are all right on the water.
Recreation here as in most of Western Washington is centered on
outdoor activities.
The median price of homes in West Sound is around $135,000 or
about 30% less than on the other side and there are always a
good selection of homes to choose from.
We have the regional shopping mall here that people drive up to
100 miles away to come to. And if that isn't enough, we're 30
minutes drive north of Tacoma and an easy ferry boat ride from
downtown Seattle. You can do the City Thing and then go back to
your country home.
All in all, life is good in Western Washington but it's even
better on the West Sound.

What a surprise! It arrived yesterday on my birthday!!! And also got a

Ok, everyone...start drooling!!!!
I got a wolf um from Ala Art! Neener Neener!!! And then a mounted stamp of
3 wolves!!! I love this stamp. It will go really good in a card that I
have an idea for.
Tombows! Now this is kinda funny cause when I saw them I was scared that I
already had them but when I went to look, I didn't have any of them!!! HOW
DID YOU KNOW THAT?????????
Malachite Tinsel EP!! I don't have this one and I've never even heard of
it!!! I love PSX powders. I find they melt really well and all the tinsel
doesn't fly away like others. Thank you! One more to add to my ever
growing collection of EPs. That's why my nickname is EPBandit!!! LOL
Shells, oooooh! These are going to go great on collage. Recently hosted a
book swap where some put these on the covers as decorattions. That's a
really good idea. Might have to do that!
Another small rose stamp by PSX! I really like this. My mom has the big
one and I'm sooo jealous! This will make neat backgrounds!
TASSLES!!!! I've already used one of the ones you sent me earlier in a
collage and really like them!!! I love tassles. These are sooo cool! And
the colors are really cool! Keep sending more tassles!!! LOL
Lace Paper and Rose Tissue paper!!! I've only seen this rose tissue paper
one other time and have still never been able to find it. I really like
it!! It's soo pretty. You used it as a filler in my box but I rescued it
from being thrown away and will use it wisely since I can't find any. And
I use this lace paper all the time in collages. I've seen the circle
pattern and the one with no pattern, but never have seen this wave stuff!
Cool!
Cat stickers!!! he he - these will go great on envies for my CCCC card.
Thank you for this great package!!! I have the best SSS ever!!! Now have
to go find places for all this great stuff!!!

In the past year I have been approached my 3 stamping stores regarding =
the possibility of writing a stamping newsletter. I have some experience =
with newsletters under my belt. I currently write a monthly newsletter =
for a store in Kamloops that focusses on BC wines and premium BC beers. =
I have gotten a lot of great feedback about it and have winery Reps from =
all over the Province who receive it each month. I also write a =
bi-monthly newspaper article on wine. In the past,I published two =
quarterly newsletters for the Port Moody Police Department's Community =
Crime Prevention Unit.
After a lot of thought and reading I figured that another publication =
that covers rubberstamping in a broad sense was not needed. Who wants to =
compete with a publication as terrific as Vamp Stamp News? Not me! Not =
now anyways!LOL I came up with the idea of doing a newsletter that is =
based on the online world of stamping. The other newsletters touch on =
this (VSN does a great job!) but there isn't one that is based on that =
alone (at least I dont think there is!LOL)
I would like to feature all the aspects of online stamping especially =
the activity on the diferent email lists and newsgroups. The newsletter =
would include techniques used by the list members, stamping tips, swap =
information, trends and new products, upcoming events (chats, contests, =
conventions, etc.), articles and reviews (catalogues, books, videos, web =
site) written by list members, etc, etc, etc.=20
I would also like to be able to offer advertising to the online vendors, =
especially the home-based mail order vendors who do not have the =
opportunity or money to advertise in the larger publications. I would =
also like to offer the vendors who choose to advertise in the newsletter =
the opportunity to be featured in one of the upcoming newsletters. This =
would be an article written about the vendor that will tell the vendor's =
background, items for sale, etc. This would be a great chance for them =
to generate business. The vendors would have the choice of submitting a =
small product sample along with their feature.
What I need from you.....
1. I need all the input I can get. I want all your comments, =
suggestions, questions, ideas, etc. The more input the better! Tell me =
what you would like to see in this newsletter.
2. Would you be interested in writing an on-going article, a feature, =
being a "reporter", writing project directions, etc. I welcome anyone =
who wants to be part of this project.

Hi!
This is turning out to be a really good idea! It's neat to see all the =
things that people are submitting. I have been given some suggestions =
that might make this swap better. Please email me with your input =
regarding these changes. If a majority is in agreeance, I will make =
these changes official. Thanks!
1. The issue of the number of submissions has been a very active debate. =
This is what most people are telling me... I was brought to my attention =
that the idea of submitting only 5 or 10 cards would not only complicate =
the swap but will make it unfair for those who submitt a sample for =
everyone. If someone sends one for everyone, it is only fair that they =
recieve a sample from everyone. If people are sending less than the =
number of participants then some people are going to be missing out on =
samples. This way I can not ensure that the people who submit the full =
amount of samples will receive the same. At the same time the ones who =
only submit 5 or 10 will be getting more samples than they submitted. A =
lot of people think this is unfair.=20
Here is what I propose..... I ask that everyone hold off sending their =
samples and sheet until I post the actual amount of participants. Then =
everyone will submit a small business card sized (or larger) sample for =
each participant. The people who are sending card techniques can also =
make cards this size rather than full size. This will ensure eveyone is =
happy with what they got. What do you think??
2. Some participants have asked if they can submit more than one =
technique. I think this is great! I would like to offer them the option =
of not having to send samples for any extra techniques submitted. Of =
course you can send samples for all of your submissions and I know this =
would be greatly appreciated. I ask that you sign up for the extra =
techniques so I can add them to the list. I also ask that you decorate =
or at least put your name on the extra sheets (the initial one too!) so =
that people can see who submitted them.
3. Some people have suggested to me that I ask everyone to do their own =
photocopying and include only the money for the return postage and the =
duotang. I am giving you the choice of doing your own copying or letting =
me do it. It doesn't matter to me. I will be posting the monetary amount =
at the same time as I give the final number of participants. I will be =
asking for the price of the photocopying and the return postage. If you =
do your own copying I will require the price of postage plus $1 to cover =
the additional price of the duo tang and the extra postage required to =
send the booklets with the samples. Does this sound fair???
4. Some people have expressed a concern about handwriting thier =
techniques sheets. If you dont want your page copied as is, let me know. =
I dont have a problem with typing it out for you. The only problem with =
this is that your page wont be decorated as you want. I wont be able to =
do a paste up for these (takes too long).
5. I have received many requests from people who dont want to =
participate in the swap but want a copy of the booklet. Some have =
offered to pay for it. I am really hoping that the "incentive" for =
joining the swap is the booklet. Those that put the time and effort into =
making thier samples and doing thier pages earn it. It's the same as the =
Directory pages swap. Only those that participate receive a copy of all =
the pages (am I wrong on this one???). What do you think about this =
one?????
Please note.... In the past year I have been approached by 3 different =
stamp stores with the idea of starting a stamping newsletter for them (I =
do graphic design/desktop publishing and currently publish a monthly =
newsletter for a Kamloops business, a bi-monthly newspaper article, and =
have published 2 other monthly newsletters in the past) I have been in =
the process of putting together a stamping newsletter that focuses on =
the online world of stamping. I would like to use these techniques from =
time to time in my newsletter (with permission, giving credit to the =
person who sumitted the technique). Would this be ok??? The people who =
didnt join the swap would be able to get the techniques there. I really =
need your input on this one.
If you have any other suggestions or concerns, please email me. Thanks =
very much!
