Subject: RS: CARD REQUEST for my Dad
Hi Everybody!
I'm writing to request cards for my Dad who just went through very risky open
heart surgery. He wasn't expected to make it through the surgery and he is
doing very well. He has inherited an aortic aneurysm and had emergency open
heart 3 years ago which no one expected him to live through. We thought that
was the end of it but when he started having chest pain in January, they found
that the rest of his aorta is in pretty bad shape. So he had surgery on
Thursday and did extremely well, but he has to have another surgery in 2-3
months. He is very young (54) and in great health otherwise so we're very
postive about the future, but he has been through an awful lot in the last 2
months and is getting very tired of being sick and in the hospital. He could
really use some Cheer up/Encouragement/Thinking of You cards. He has a great
sense of humor and loves nature and appreciates both artistic and cute stuff.
I'll send cards and little goodies to anyone who sends him a card.
John Wright
1 Westervelt Avenue
Clifton, NJ 07011
Thank you so much!

Hello My Friends!
THANK YOU for all the loving support!!!!
It's been a LONG couple of weeks! My BIL is still in bad shape. But he
hasn't lost his legs yet. (He was in a horrid motorcycle accident) We
were on our way to him from Illinois, we stopped in Kansas, I checked our
phone messages. We never did make it to Enid, OK. We turned around and went
home. My mom's been real sick and is in the hospital. The nurse called to
tell me they took her to ICU because she was blue and not breathing! Talk
about upset!! After several 1,000 (seemed like) calls, I found out we had
to put her on a ventilator. Mom was on it for a couple of days, she is
much better. I thought she would be mad because she doesn't want to be
hooked up on machines. The Dr said it was just for a short time. She has a
bad heart and lungs. If she had flatlined we would not try to bring her
back. But she said she understands and it's alright.
Works been a bi**h, and I have this headache that won't go away! BUT the
good news?!!
Richard told me I need to get away for a few days. I said, with a :) ,-
that there is a stamp convention in Vegas coming up. --He looked and me and
said, 'Well, are you going?' I told him that I hadn't thought about it
much, HE said 'well think about it, you need to get away!' I asked when he
could get off, he can't right now. He suggested I take a girlfriend.
SOOOO.... I'm thinking about it! Sounds good to me! I'm making plans to
go!
Well, gotta go ,I just looked at the clock,
Joy

*Been there, done that* a couple of years ago. My *dear* family and
*devoted* friends went the whole nine yards and had a funeral (complete
with hearse, casket and tombstone) to bury *my youth*. We had a ball -
interesting to be eulogized while you're still alive! :-) However, in
your friend's state of mind, I don't think this would be a good idea!
Another friend had a surprise 50th birthday - everthing was a purple theme
- - from the poem *When I Am An Old Lady*. (I have a copy of the poem if you
want it.) Everyone wore purple, all the cards were done in purple, gift
wrap and decorations were purple ..... you get the picture!
Personally, I feel that every year I have is a celebration - I'm grateful
for every year I have! This is the best time of my life - children are
grown and married (and not one of them is in jail!), grandchildren are
delights - a little bonus to life! I look around and see so many others
far less fortunate than me and I count my blessings! I agree with Beverly
- - focus on the positive! Turning 50 sure as hell beats the alternative!

You *can* clean them out. If you are using Windows, there is a subdirectory
called Cookies. I'm not sure where it resides in a Mac, but you can search
for it. Go to the Cookies directory and delete them (just the cookies, not
the folder). Be careful, though. If you subscribe to anything on line that
requires your acceptance of their cookie, you may not be recognized by that
site the next time you go to it.
In my experience, the Oscar for the most cookies attempted goes to Disney
site--over 20 each time you go to a new page--although that may not be true if
you accept them in the first place.
At least these cookies don't raise your cholesterol level!

That leaves Jan or Rhea as the mystery card sender.

Subject: RS: Re: 50th Birthday Party
As one that has "been there" my first suggestion would be to request cards
from list members that can be given to her at the party. I really don't
understand the depression part at 50---I was down right excited to be able
to tell people that I was 50. My daughter got mad at me because when the
occasion came up to discuss age I would say that I was 50 a good 6 months
before my B-day. (30 was a much different story) But if she really is having
a problem with it then GAG Gifts should be OUT ! Give her sweet personal
things like bath products, lingere and OF COURSE STAMPING SUPPLIES. What
about a card contest in her honor---or a card challenge with everyone having
to use either the same image to create a card OR an envelope containing
things to embellish a card that MUST be used to create a B-day card for her.
It is always fun to see the different ideas that people can come up with
using the same things. But just being remembered in thoughtful ways always
makes one feel good ! Diana

Subject: Re: RS: Hubby taking over check book HELP
Boy I hope my husband never reads my mail!!! If he's really being bad about
it, I just write a check for it, and then put down the name of a grocery
store, or drug store with a dash beside it. Then when I reconcile the check
book, I know where the check really went. Of course, I could do what he does.
He says "I got some cash out today, I needed some things." To which my
response is "OK". No problem. I then know that he has bought more stuff for
golfing. Everybody has to have a hobby! My little brother told me when he
gets married, he's never gonna let his wife have a check book!! (His hobby is
building remote control airplanes) I ask him how he would tell her about the
things he needed. He said "yea, but I need that stuff."
MEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
