Subject: RS: TAN: Humerous McDonalds Story
This is a true story. I figured that since I have been picking on
Michaels, I should be fair.
I went to Micky D's one Sunday morning to get breakfast for my son and
I. I placed the following difficult order: 2 plain biscuits, 1 order of
hotcakes, 2 side orders of bacon.
I got the food and checked the bag, including opening the hotcakes
package. There was no bacon. so I told the drive thru garcon that I
was missing my bacon. And the fun begins....j
teenager at window (TA): Its on your biscuits.
Me: The biscuits are plain.
TA: No Ma'am. They put the bacon on your biscuits.
I open the biscuits and look.
Me: There is no bacon on these biscuits.
TA: There isn't?
Me: (showing the biscuits to the ta) No there isn't
Ta goes off to confer with woman (W)
Ta: She didn't get her bacon.
W: Its on her hotcakes.
Ta: Its with your hotcakes ma'am.
Me: No its not.
Ta: Are you sure?
Me: I've already checked. Its not in there.
Ta: Well that's where they said it is.
Me: (opening hotcake package and showing that there is only hotcakes to
the ta) See. There's no bacon.
Ta goes back to w.
Ta: She is missing her bacon.
W: Isn't it with her hotcakes?
TA: No.
W: Are you sure?
Ta: She showed me. Its not in there.
W: Call the manager.
Ta to Manager (M): We have a problem
M: What's wrong?
Ta: She didn't get her bacon.
M: (Gets ticket and studies it to ensure I ordered bacon.) Its with
the hotcakes.
Ta: No it isn't
M: Are you sure?
Ta: Yes she showed me the hotcakes
sidenote: At this point, I am expecting a flock of employees to descend
upon me and search the van to find the missing bacon.
Manager has a conversation with people in the back. I can only hear her
saying something about the bacon not being with the hotcakes. Finally
the TA delivers the very cold bacon to me. At this point I was grateful
that I had any bacon, and decided to go home and nuke it.
Lisa(who can only assume that there is an enormous black market for side
orders of McDonalds bacon.)

Subject: RS: Lots of newbie questions -Reply
Hi Kris,
No dummies here, but we all started sometime, right? Let's take these one =
at a time, K?
If I buy HALOS, as an uneducated stamper, will I be able to figure out how =
to use them without instruction?
Haven't used but understand they come with instructions and if yu stay on =
the list long enough, believe me, you'll absorb the information.
What do you use wallpaper for? Backgounds?
Yes, but mostly for custom envelopes for or custom cards. Also for gift =
bags (with the aid of the Kreate-a-bag templates).
Scented embossing powder? Is this for real?
I've heard chocolate and coffee. Never smelled but these folks don't lie =
(unless they make it really obvious they are).
What is TTPO?
Tickle (or Torture) the Post Office. Depends on your mail carrier's point =
of view. The act of sending something generally thought to be unmailable, =
um, anyway. No packaging allowed, although sometimes the P.O. adds this =
along the way--called a body bag (may the item R.I.P.). Example I heard of =
was a lampshade. Labeled and appropriate postage applied. No box. Got =
there!
What'a a soot card?
A card (glossy coat) which has been held just over (or barely into) the =
flame of a candle issuing smoke. Jiggle the card around and the soot =
leaves soft, swirly images on it. Then you can stamp (dry stamp) onto it =
removing the soot where the rubber hits.
How do you make a shaker card? They look so neat on the web pages.
Verrrry briefly. Stamp image with window-like image (can be window, empty =
jar, fish bowl, snow globe, etc.) on two pieces card stock (cs) (same =
place on each piece). One is top--cut out inside of "window" color rest of =
image and otherwise decorate top. Other is bottom. Color in "window" and =
ignore rest of image. Cut foam core to same size as cs. Put under top cs =
and trace opening onto foam core. Cut out opening in foam core but just a =
little bit bigger.=20
Assemble. Glue foam core to bottom cs. Pour in a some confetti or beads or =
tiny somethings. Glue (tape?) acetate (cut to size) over opening in foam =
core, Acetate is transparent material used with overhead projectors and =
such. Attach top cs over acetate. Shake!
What's so special about Art Institute Glitter?
Beautiful and comes with great glue so that if you let it cure properly--it=
NEVER COMES OFF! This one ya gotta see to be sold--not you're normal =
glitter.
How do I get adopted?
Someone else may have to field this although I've seen subject lines that =
look like want ads so that may work!
How do you get in a swap or secret pal thing?
When you see a swap that sounds good, write the the host(ess) and ask for =
more information and join in if it still sounds good. Did my first not too =
long ago and it was great. Secret pal? A cyclical (sp?) thing that may be =
starting up again right about now. Look at the posts, you'll find =
something sooner or later.
Welcome! And if you have more questions, you only have to ask us.

I also love to knit and yesterday I went to a fairly new yarn shop in
town. I love seeing all the colors and textures. Mmm, reds, purples,
mohairs, boucle, rayon tapes... These inspire me for knitting and also
for stamping. I love looking at color combinations and texture
differences.
Another place I get ideas and inspiration from is the annual pottery
show. The Oregon Pottery Association has a show/sale once a year and I
love going and seeing all the creativity represented there. The various
types of glazes, and textures and shapes are just wonderful!
Just thought I'd share.

How come no one warned me?? I went to the store to get some carpet tape.
There are 3 kinds in 2 different size rolls. UGH, decisions, decisions.
They had removeable (definitely don't want this one), regular and heavy
duty. I decide on the heavy duty (you never know what's going to happen
to these pins). LOL! As for the size, well, I was going to get the
small roll, but look, the big roll is such a better deal! The big roll
is 27.4 yards! Now that I'm home and happily putting pin backs on my
pins, I realize that for about 100 pins, I'll only use up about 1 foot of
this roll. Well, anyone need some?

ROFL Shannon! So glad you finally got yours! I know that when I called
my order in, they tried to give me the same runaround, but I had called
a different office than Shannon had, and as soon as they found out it
was still on the web page, the manager informed me that they would be
obligated to honor the sale price.
And BTW, I have finally used mine - they are great - and you have to
only use a little - it goes a long way!

I just got the latest flyer from First Impressions (our local stamp
store) and they have a tip I thought I'd pass on.
"Giant Background Stamps as Decorative Paper
Emboss a Judi-Kins giant background stamp on colored or white cardstock.
Stamp a large, recognizable shape (heart, leaf, flower, etc. on the BACK
of the cardstock.
Cut out the stamped image. Turn over and you have a beautifully
decorated shape you can glue on your stamped, layered, or collaged card.
Note: With a gold or silver pen, color in some of the unembossed areas
and outline the decorated shape for a lovely finished look."
Sounds great...I'm going to definitely try this.

Oh, Ant Judy, I got your RAK! I was thrilled. Maybe that rose has been
around for awhile, but the first thing I noticed was the metallic rub-ons
you used on the front. It looks great. I'm going to have to try those.
Are they dry? I don't think I've seen them in the store yet. And I was so
excited about the um you included of the fairy!!! I'm going to have to
check that company for more fairies, because I sure love this one. And the
sample of fun foam that you stamped on. Well, those angels are darling,
(especially the 2nd one from the left!) and the way you used the rub-ons on
that too, well my husband thought that was really neat. So, now I guess
I'll have to try that idea.
Really though, besides getting such a nice card and goodies, it was so
exciting to see new techniques. Makes me really think about what my future
RAK's will be.
Thanks so much!!!!!!!!
Love to you,

What a wonderful box! I picked it up from the post office since I
wasn't home yesterday and all I got was that darn yellow slip. I started
opening the box at the first stop light and my 3 year ol daughter says,
"You can't open it now. You're driving." The red light is long (yeah!)
so I proceded to slit the tape with a pen. My daughter says, "We don't
have scissors in the car. They are dangerous." At this point I'm trying
not to laugh. I peek inside the box and spy a bunch of Phil's
containers. Yippee! And they're each full of stuff! The first one I
see has Hershey hugs and kisses in it. I tell my daughter, "I think I'll
open the box now. You'll like what's in it." After seeing the candy,
she says, "OK, you can open the box!"
Here's what else I got...
Green puff EP
Charms - star, heart, bear
St. Patrick's day confetti
Mounted stamp - mouse with clover leaf balloon
Clover leaf cookie cutter
Sealing wax "A" stamp
Apple Peel scented candle (green, of course)
thin sponges for making my own embossing ink pad (where'd you find such
thin sponges?
8 watercolor pencils - Yipeee! I'm ready to go play now!
cardstock - green and glossy green (cool, I don't have these)
Azadi catalog (SSS, you're too good to me)
Bible Stories coloring book for my daughter - she'll love this!
I love all of it and thanks for making each box you send so special. I
can tell you put a lot of thought in to each one. I can't wait to play
with everything! My daughter's been asking to make sugar cookies, so the
cookie cutter will be great.

Yes, the letter you recieved from the new owners makes a lot more
sense than the story going around last night. I was going to write in
then, but was too tired. The US government is not likely to go in on a
personal law suit and confiscate property. The government is not that
helpful to individuals unless they have a tremendous amout of political
clout, like say a senator, or congressman. Bankrupacy is a federal
action (because it crosses state boundaries in its determination?) and
seizure of property is an action taken to try and get some tax revenue
from the defunct business--then the feds are plenty interested, and will
offer all properties seized up for public auction. A branch of the
seizure, will do a search and mailings to businesses that seem similar
in nature to generate interest (by phone book?)

Along the same lines, I purchased a HUMONGOUS roll of "camper tape"...it is
about 1/4" thick and sticky on one side. It is a good 1 1/2" wide. It is
wonderful for mounting objects so they really stand out!! I'm telling you, it
will last a loooong time. It was at Wal-Mart or Meijer (I forget!) in the
hardware aisle, and was approx. $5.00...hmmm, maybe we should market as
"stampers' foam tape" and sell it for a lot more!!!!
