GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!

I don't post to the list often but yes - I'm still out here!

Yesterday at the convention I met (sorry don't know everyone's last
names):
RUTH, JAIMEE, STARGAZER !!!!!!!!!!!!!! So great to put faces with these
e-mail names.

Jaime thank you soooooo much for the beautiful heart pin!  Stargazer
shared a new "quilting?" technique (beautiful cards she is working on).
This lady is verrrrrrrrrrrrry talented!

Barbara and George (delap) were kind enough to "throw me in their car"
and get me there.  THANKS GUYS - it was great fun traveling with you!
Barbara made the greatest pins and I'm sure will now be known to all as
the "BRA" lady.

We met at Sheryl Porter's HALO's booth and Sheryl gifted us with an
acrilic Halo.  THANKS SHERYL !  I purchased Sheryl's system at the San
Jose Convention.

One of my  "finds" this time were the X-Acto soldering iron (for cutting
foam board) purchased from Jim Shephans.  Jim kindly included as an extra
a bunch of "pill boxes" for me to stamp and embellish.  THANKS JIM!  and
of course now I have no excuse not to make Shaker Cards!

My other "find" was an UM of a toilet seat nailed down.  Too funny!  DH
has a birthday this month and guess what his card is going to be?  I
can't wait !

All in all it was a great day.  I watched some neat demos, purchased lots
of ums, and met some wonderful list people!

One of the hidden faults of a used vulcanizer is uneven heating.
You wouldn't know this without a pyrometer. If you can borrow
one, then bring the machine to temperature, about 307-310
degress F. Read the temp in nine places: left-rear, center-rear,
right-rear, etc.

Gum rubber is pretty lenient with temperatures. You can
vulcanize anywhere between about 302-312 degrees. So, if the
variation is plus or minus 5 degrees and you set it to 307,
you'll be good. If the variation is more than that, you can
still use it for smaller plates but the larger ones will be
unevening vulcanized.

Also look to see that the platens close evenly together. This
can often be adjusted where the uneven temperature problem can't
be, but get it adjusted before you buy. The machine could have a
bent frame. (yes, some people have found ways to drop these
things!).

well.. was a good note!  prompted me to haul aidan in with his helmet (a new
one.. well.. is 7 or so months old now, he said if he had a less geeky
helmet he'd ride his bike, so I got him less geeky helmet and it sat in the
garage for 7 months then he decided he'd go on a rollerbladin' kick other
day and dug the thing out) and make some adjustments.. he didn't like the
adjustments mind you, but I pointed out to him that if he's gonna wear it
(and he's not gonna skate without it) it might as well fit right and do some
good, otherwise, it's just a funny hat... so we got that taken care of.. now
all I gotta worry about his the rest of his body when he plows in to a car..

rofl!  yesterday morning, there was an odd period of silence (silence round
here on a saturday morning is unprecedented), and I decided to fill the
silence with some tunes.. so I popped james taylor outta the cd drive so as
to pop something else in, but.. his case was *nowhere* to be found.  so.. I
shut the drive and listened to him, and cleaned and sorted and rearranged,
figurin' it had just disappeared somewhere in the.. um.. warren I call my
desk.  no luck.  he quit singin' and I still hadn't found it.. even checked
through the trash.. wandered the rest of the house, on off chance I'd left
here with it still in my hand and laid it down somewhere.. no luck.  called
in the kids.. you seen this?  course not.  they can't see socks hangin' from
their monitor (*why* would anybody put their socks on the monitor??  I
swear.. my son just yelled me in to the other room a sec ago.. my mouse
died!  I'm like.. aidan.. didn't it work a second ago?  yep.  well.. did it
explode? pop? fizzle? snort?  anything? nope.  well.. then it strikes me as
unlikely that it's dead.. rofl.. so I go in there and reset the 'puter and
is still not functioning.. so while I puzzle that one a second I notice
these socks.. sheesh.. so I send him to dispose of 'em and get down on the
floor and plug the mouse back in to the computer (sigh) and reset it again
and life is good.. mouse works, no socks visible in the playroom either..).
so I'm desperate here.. it's either find this case or listen to james taylor
over and over for the rest of my life.. and I.. just couldn't go there..
so.. I decide to look in the most ridiculous place I could think of for an
empty cd-case to be.. my husband's attache.. and.. course that's where it
was.  I don't care how many times I tell him, or what kind of
loathesome-to-him music I choose to listen to, when he's goin' on a roadtrip
in someone else's car, he always grabs the top cd.. tell him over and over..
the top cd case.. that's the one that's in the computer.. either don't take
it, or take the cd *too*.. rofl.  and.. hopefully, by telling you this, the
next time I can't find a cd-case, that'll be the first place I look for it.

but losin' swap cards.. I do that alla time.. those 10 cards I mailed out
tuesday were from swaps I'd made 'em for then lost 'em.. rofl!

Subject: RS:  San Mateo Convention (long)

I had a ball.  Really enjoyed myself.  Was bone tired and brain dead by
the time I got home but what a great day.  It was so uch fun meeting
everybody.  You form images in your mind and then you meet them.  Some
of you surprised me.  I wrote some of the names down and hope I didn't
forget anybody.  There wa Diane Hare, Christine and her mother Esther,
Justine, Sheryl, Pam (I delivered a gift from her SS), Joanne, Pam and
her sister Betty, and last but not least Jaimee, her daughter
(beautiful, gorgeous eyes) and her husband.  I have been to conventions
before . but this made it double special to meet all these people.  I
drove to the convention with Colleen Munger and my daughter Toni .
Mauren Butcher (who also I met today for the first time) went with us.
Poor Maureen she came right from work and she was tired .  Got a lot of
ums and did manage to buy the AIG glitter.  Missed half of the booths as
we left early.  I get to go to the Portland one next month, so I got to
save up.  Glad to have met you all and the picture is great Christine.
