Thanks, Laurel of CowTown Stamps

***NEW!!***** my web site is up!!! http://www.fdldotnet.com/~cowtown
it has both CowTown Stamps and a link to the MidWest Snoopy Swap Meet (info
below) and a link to the Snoopy Lovers Directory form.
CowTown Stamps, 1723 Monroe St., New Holstein, WI 53061
my rubber stamp company's catalog #1 is now $2.00 refundable (on order of
$20 or more) latest fliers can be obtained for a SASE (these are NOT Snoopy

I co-host a rubber stamp convention in Sun Prairie, Wi. (east of Madison)
July 11 (1998) this year. For vendor or customer/stamper info, please send
a SASE to the addy above. Vendors can be stores or manufacuters.
I also host the annual Midwest Snoopy Swap Meet. Send me a SASE for swap
forms/info; or you can print the forms off the web page and mail them in
completed with the appropriate registration fees. The 1998 swap (the 8th
one) is planned to be at the Mall of America in Minnesota on June 27th. The
swap is held at a hotel, this year at the Days Inn at the Mall. Info on it
is on my web page now. The 1997 swap had almost 200 attend and we had a
grand time. We tried a pizza/rootbeer/chocolate chip cookie party and that
went over very well, over 140 were there for the meal. Check out my web
page for info on the swap, go to the snoopy link on the main (first) page.
I also publish the Snoopy Lovers Directory. It is only a listing of names
and addresses (and more if they wish) of people who love Snoopy and the
gang. What a great way to find new collectors in your own town or area or
if you are traveling.
*The directory is $5.00 for one year's worth ($10 for one year's
worth outside the US.),which includes one main issue published in the
spring and one update published in the fall.
*If you join between Nov. 1 and Jan. 31-- you will receive the most
recent year's issues (example: if you join Dec. 5, 1998, you will get the
1998 main issue and the 1998 update) However, your info will not be added
until the next scheduled issue is published.
*If you join between Feb. 1 and Oct. 31 -- you will receive the current
year's issues (example: if you join Feb. 5, 1998, you will receive the 1998
main issue when it comes out around May) Your information will be added to
the next
scheduled issue published.
Included in the directory are your name and address; optional
listings are: phone, fax, email, web site, birthday. The directory comes
out in spring, a main issue with everyone listed; and in the fall an update
comes out with the new listings and corrections since the main issue that
year. In 1998 with the spring issue I am planning on adding a section
(unknown as how it will be) on up to 3 categories of what people are
collecting. The directory is NOT a newsletter, and plans are NOT to turn it
into one. In the main issue of the directory are alphabetical listings,
cross referenced by state and some dealer listings of those in the
directory already. Send to the address above, checks PAYABLE TO: Snoopy
Lovers Directory.

I received a great RAK yesterday from Kelly Haga. She sent me a DOTS
catalog I have been wanting to look at. She also included an adorable
card. It is on lavender CS layered with yellow patterned paper and on top
white CS with two little girls from DOTS playing in flowers and it say' s
"Friends Forever." I have got to get into DOTS. It is too cute.
Kelly thanks so much for sending me the catalog I have been wanting to see.

It's funny, too, that you should post this. I'm going to have to forward it
to a friend of mine who isn't subscribed. Just a couple of weeks ago, we were
smirking together about an article in Craft Trends (a magazine published
especially for craft retailers...she owns a stamp store here in
Minnesota)...here's a quote from it:
"In the last two years, Michaels has undergone a transition from a troubled
chain to one operating on all cylinders...When Rouleau joined Michaels as
president and CEO in April 1996, he knew he faced a number of challenges.
'The company had lost its identity,' he says. 'And research showed our stores
were messy and hard to shop. The check-out service was slow and we were out
of stock on too many items. Prices were too high. But in spite of that,
customers still love us.'"
Hmm...guess *every* Michaels isn't *quite* back on track yet, eh? Ours isn't
and yours isn't, so that makes at least two so far...
Just thought you'd enjoy that little bit of poorly-researched journalism. <G>
Take care,
Jackie :-)

Ok so I get the stamp today...DH goes out for the mail...Comes back in
holding a box, strange look on his face..."Uh honey I think this may be
for you"...I grab it and look at the box....A FLEET PREP KIT!!! Mars
Mannix had warned me the box she was sending my stamp in was, well
different.
But see in true Paul Harvey fashion there is more to the story...About 4
years ago, I had my entire large intestine removed due to severe
ulceritive colitus...You have no idea how many of these Fleet kits I
have seen! It was like the ghost from Christmas past!!
Needles to say I love the stamp and can't wait to ink it up! Thanks

potatoes), a cup of coffee and a side order of wheat toast, because she dryly
explains:
Waitress: No substitutions.
Dupeau: What do you mean? You don't have any tomatoes?
Waitress: Only what's on the menu. You can have a number two -
a plain omelet. It comes with cottage fries and rolls.
Dupeau: Yeah, I know what it comes with. But it's not what I
want. (He orders the same items again. She responds that they
don't make side orders of toast.) What do you mean you don't
make side orders of toast? You make sandwiches, don't you?
Waitress: Would you like to talk to the manager?
Dupeau: ...You've got bread and a toaster of some kind?
Waitress: I don't make the rules.
Dupeau (telling her he will make it as easy as he can for her by
ordering a chicken salad sandwich.)
I'd like an omelet, plain, and
a chicken salad sandwich on wheat toast, no mayonnaise, no
butter, no lettuce. And a cup of coffee...Now all you have to do
is hold the chicken, bring me the toast, give me a check
for the chicken salad sandwich, and you haven't broken any rules.
Waitress (spitefully): You want me to hold the chicken, uh?
Dupeau: I want you to hold it between your knees.
Waitress (turning and telling him to look at the sign which says,
"No Substitutions." She tells him he will have to leave.) I'm not
taking any more of that smartness and sarcasm.
Dupeau: You see this sign? (He sweeps all the water glasses and menus off
the table.)
HAVING DONE ALL, STAND.

the super service and also for all the extras that you threw in. They are
as nice as the vellum! I can hardly wait to see her petal paper that I
ordered!

Helen!!! Hey PAL!!! Glad to see you on this list too. Now there are lots of
us!! Hoorary!
Anyway, a yo-yo stamp is made by a company called Limited Edition. In the
case of the cat, you have a head, two paws on top, two paws on the bottom (as
if they were standing on their hind legs) and a tail. Nothing for the belly.
They are called yo-yo stamps because a lot of quilters use the yo-yo circles
that they make to fill the belly area in. I don't sew, and I don't have the
cat. BUT I did get Santa at christmas and filled his belly with a starlight
(red & white ) round mint. It fit perfectly in the small santa. Sent those
to my customers to let them know that they were worth a "mint" to me. Really
cute.
I just got the LE catalogue the other day and I know that Karen Harris is
placing an order this weekend. I believe her discount is 25%, but you might
want to check. The small cat is $8.00 and the large is $10.00 (they are both
mounted).
You can get her at harris@njcc.com.
Does it have to be the CAT for the swap, or will any yo yo do?
TIA
Germaine

is this a trick question? canada is up there on top of US, although some
bits of it are below some bits of US, and it goes alla way across whole us,
and then some.. and goes WAY up there, almost to santa. is a way big place,
canada. course is not a state, is a country, and it's got states of it's
own, but they call 'em provinces instead up there.
they have beer in canada? rofl.. ok.. mounties and ice, dudley doright and
all. beer didn't enter my mind.. but then it rarely does (I'ma gin kind of
gal, myself).. if I think of beer, I think of italy. maple leaves. they
must have maple syrup too, with all those maple leaves. beavers. why
beavers, you ask? cuz momma and daddy went to canada once, and brought back
these silver metal things, and mine is a maple leaf like dish? and ted's is
a beaver statue like thing. so.. there must be beavers. a big fancy hotel
in.. montreal? chateau something with an f.. I have a postcard of that.
when I think of canada I picture an ant-lady on a snowmobile. I think of
snow.. and hockey! and I think of anne of green gables, I think I'd like to
go to prince edward island sometime.. in the summer, when is not cold.
that's an east part of canada, and I'm an east kind of gal.. I can imagine
possibly making it to there some day.. west I have more trouble imagining.
I'm sure I have a way narrow view of canada.. but then.. I don't have a real
clear picture of any place I've never been.. you oughta see what a miserable
job I'd do with australia..

Subject: RS: Teddy Bear Swap cards received
Today in the mail I received the Teddy Bear Swap cards and they are all
just beautiful!
From Bin Yamamoto she stamped the fuzzy bear by PSX. The fuzzy is stamped
on the front of the card all nicely colored in and he is holding the
neatest balloons that she sewed thread to and made it look like it was
really being held by the bear. The background is lightly stamped clouds
and the balloons are maybe put on with a brayer or something. I just know
they are the best balloons I have ever seen! I want to learn how to do
those.
From Appalchian Arts I received a mauve colored card with the cutest set of
wedding bears stamped in the middle of a raised oval with ribbon and hearts
above and below them. It is hard to describe but it is a very nice card.
From Beth Dutt the cutest set of bears sitting on a neat bench with grass
all under it. The grass is stamped on the card, then the bench is layered
on and then the bears are layered on the bench. A great card.
From jbuchmil a shaker card that is so cute. She has the cutes bear,
Garden Teddy by PSX, stamped on the front and above the bear is the window
with all sorts of colorful tinfoil, etc. in it. She put foam behind it and
it is a really sturdy card that came through the mail great.
From Eileen deMars a card that is like a tri-fold. To hold the card closed
she has a bright pink corregated square with a layer of yellow over the top
that is stamped with a checkered border and a saying of "tonight's the
night the teddy bears have their picnic" and when you open up the card,
there is a square of material to represent a table cloth and four sticker
bears at it with a layer of water color flowers on the bottom and stars and
a moon at the top. A very nice card.
Thank you Mary for hosting the swap and thanks to all of you for the great
cards. I loved every one of them.

From: Dawn <sunrise@wolfenet.com>
Subject: RS: TTPO! DEADLINE! SIGN UP!
Can you believe it??? TOMORROW is the last day to sign up for the TTPO
swap! Don't be let down~ This is a great fun way to get a giggle!
Torture The Post Office
(or "Tickle The Post Office", if you're a member of Amnesty
International) is a fun swap that takes very little work!
***Swap: TTPO4
(stands for Torture [or Tickle] The Post Office 4th round)
***Sign Up Deadline: Feb. 28, 1998
***Items must be mailed no later than March 7, 1998
***Facilitator: :-D awn, sunrise@wolfenet.com
***Details: When you sign up, send me your snail addy--even if
you're sure I already have it. This will make it much easier for me.
I will then set up groups of 6 people. (You can ask to be in more
than one group and request to be or not to be [that is the question]
in the same group with someone else--like last time someone was
in the same group with her SSS--just a little dicey, don't you think?).
After I get a group set up, I will email you everyone's addresses.
You will then mail the other 5 people their mystery items.
***Notes: To make tracking easier for me: When you post to the
list, please say *who* you got your item from. Which means that when
you send items, please put your return addy on them! Thanks!!!
***Swap Description: The idea of this swap is to send each other
items that are not wrapped in paper or boxes. Preferably they are
unusual shapes. You know, things to make the postal carriers scratch
their heads and say, "I've never seen anyone send one of *those*
through the mail before!" or "Why would anyone mail *that*?"
Put your postage and address label directly on the item or securely
tied to the item.
Part of the fun of this swap is to see what condition your item
arrives in--so don't feel bad about broken items or things that never
show up. Haunt thrift shops for cheap items! <G>
When you receive your item, describe it to the list in a mysterious
way. This is part of the fun, to try to guess what was sent to the
other players. At the end of the swap, we'll "unveil" what we sent.
But wait until after March 7, okay? That way everyone gets to play.
***Examples of past items sent: Clear plastic bag full of dried
sardines, full bottle of honey (in those squeezable bear shapes),
plumber's helper, bucket with candy in it, shoes, inflated balloons,
pool toys, tampons (in the box--but not wrapped)...these are just
examples--use your imagination. Fly! Be freee!
***Another Note: If you didn't send your items from TTPO2 or TTPO3,
then you may not be in TTPO4 until you've fulfilled your obligation from
before.
Players (so far!)
If you don't have a group number
after your name, don't worry, I'll assign you a
group in a couple of days.
