From: Rubberdz@aol.com
Subject: RS: RAK'd by Lisa H (such talent!)
I wish I could think of these things!!!
Lisa Howard sent me TWO neat items... her hand stamped card with a large mask
and raffi and beading... very native and tribal and so well done....
AND a pin that looks like... well... yes... a piece of bark that's been
embossed! And on top of the bark is glued two stones... they look like
Amazonite to me (kind of a pale turquoise blue)....
Then Lisa stamped one of her little "glyphs" onto one of her small round
cardboard shapes and embossed . THEN she took a piece of cording and wrapped
it around the edges of this little decorated disk.
The stones and disk were glued (very neatly, I might add) to the bark. A pin
back, and VOILA! What a cool piece of jewelry!
I wore it immediately (I had on a teal shirt - perfect match) and strutted
over to my DH... "Look what I got in the mail today." I think he's
starting to get jealous!!!
Now... I gotta go find me some little bark pieces....

My niece and her husband both work for Gateway - and besides the fact
that these are great computers, they have told me that it is a wonderful
company to work for. She works in customer service, and she says that
she is just amazed at the response they have gotten since the ad came
out - and not any negative response from those who have purchased it -
in fact, the total opposite! People have called and been really
positive and impressed with the qualitiy of the whole system. I know
that if I ever decide to get a new system, Gateway will be my first
choice.

Hi Sheryl
I don't know about the U.S.A., but when I worked at the PO in S.A., we used
to have a service called small parcel post. The weight could have been from
100g - 2kg. You filled in a little green slip and marked it as a gift. This
then went by airmail, and the people on the other side did not pay customs.
It was also cheaper then any other way. I hope I might of been of some
help, although things can work different in your country. (They have the
same service in Belgium)
Take care

Sheryl,
I use the flat rate mailers & mail them for $5.95. These mailers are
exactly like the flat rate mailers for the US except they cost $5.95 for
however much you can fit in them. I just got my 4 lb global boxes today. I
haven't looked them up yet to see how much they are going to cost to send.

Subject: RS: Stamping under glass
I watched the Effie Glitzfinger video's and saw a bunch of things I
wanted to try. What I tried yesterday was stamping under glass.
I went to a frame shop and asked them to cut me a bunch of 2 inch
squares of glass. I got a good deal. They took an 8x10 piece of glass
and cut it up for me for $5.
I bought some copper foil tape from the Make an Impression, here in
Issaquah.
Then I made a computer generated saying (duplicated about 15 times) and
stamped my image right above it. Then colored, embossed, added AIG.
Then mounted it on a nice background paper.
Holding the paper and the glass tightly together, I applied the copper
tape. Burnished it with a plastic picnic knife. Added a magnet on the
back.
I'm very happy with the result.
Some of the people in my Same Swap are going to get these. I hope you
like them! The ones at the end look a lot better than the ones in the
beginning. This is definately a practice makes perfect technique.+

Subject: RS: COMM: Paper Grabbags $10.00 Till 2/28
Fellow Stampers:
For the past 2 months I have been working on starting a rubber stamp
business called Creative Images. As an opening business special (which is
good through February 28) I would
like to offer a grab bag of 75 sheets of 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock for just
$10.00 which includes priority shipping within the United States. Add $3.95
for delivery to Canada, Great Britain and Germany. Add $5.95 for delivery
to Australia and New Zealand. (If you have questions about delivery to any
other country I would be happy to let you know what the cost would be.)
This is truly beautiful cardstock. The grab bag includes four different
neutrals (perfect for Easter or Spring cards). Included are white embossed
leather, pebblestone, oyster flecks, and cottonwood. All of these are
textured or have flecks or specks of a variety of neutral colors throughout
the cardstock. These are not plain ho-hum papers - they are all quite
beautiful. All are 80 lb. cardstock except the pebblestone which is 65 lb.
I know that you will be taking a leap of faith by placing an order with
me since I am a new vendor. That is why I am offering such a special price
on this paper. All I ask is that you please give me a chance to show you
what a wonderful vendor I will be for you. This introductory offer is good
through February 28.
Remember the grab bags are just $10.00 per 75 sheet grab bag
including priority shipping! To order a grab bag (or two!) for yourself or
your SS or as a RAK e-mail barbara@kans.com or mail check or money order to:
Creative Images
1112 Neosho
Burlington KS 66839
I am working on being able to accept credit cards but the paperwork is
not done being processed at the bank - lots of red tape! For right now I
accept checks and money orders.
Soon I will have a line of rubber stamps and supplies available
(hopefully by March 1st). Thank you in advance to all of you who are taking
that leap of faith and placing an order with me. It will be remembered and
appreciated. If you have any questions you can e-mail me or feel free to
give me a call at 316-364-8744.

From: Dawn <sunrise@wolfenet.com>
Subject: Vendor service Re: RS: Re: RE: VLVS! Service
I've been asking this question of myself, also.
I was working between 10-16 hours a day 7 days a week (And as a friend
of mine said--that's withOUT a commute!) <G> My kids were complaining
bitterly about my lack of being there for them. They were begging me to
get a "regular" job so they could at least go to daycare!
Starting in January, I made a business decision to start working less.
I only work 8-12 hours a day now, and on weekends its only about 4-8
hours.
This past weekend I took almost the entire weekend off!!! I feel like
I've been on vacation for a week!
But... (there's always a but) when I don't work as much, I get
complaints from customers "Why haven't you answered yet?" "Maybe I
should take my business else where" etc. I have made a personal
decision, that my business decision of working less is more important
than the few complaints. (Please don't feel pity--I no longer take
business complaints personally. I just do the best I can under the
business "rules" I've placed on myself)
I think every vendor has this decision to make for themselves.
I really love this job. It's so fun to "meet" people from all over the
world. I've made some really good friends with many rubberstamping,
emailing people!
I really thank all of you for the success of my business!

end up asking this list for help. Thanks Linda for sending these out!

I completely agree with Chris McEwen (sorry if I misspelled your
name!)! I give all this info in every ad I post (as well as delivery
time, my address, my phone number, NSF fees, and other small print
things), yet about 80% of the responses ask for it--even if they've hit
reply and the entire post is there!
I get a kick out of that. To me, that means my ads are too long and
only the first screen is being read. I guess I'll have to do something
about that! <G>

From: "Leslie Callahan Ryan" <lcallaha@tuc.com>
Subject: RS: Triple Embossing??? -Reply
Glenyce,
Here's how I learned triple embossing.
Materials:
* Box lid, i.e., lid from box of copy paper
* Cardboard "tile" or mat board or chip board shape--something firm, =
firmer than cardstock.
* Embossing ink (clear or tinted)
* Amazing Glaze (AG) or Ultra Think Embossing Enamel/Powder (UTEE/P)
* Heat gun
* Transparent embossing powder=20
* Stamp inked with pigment ink or embossing ink
1. Use inside of your box lid as your work area. It keeps any bits of =
flying AG or UTEE/P from going too far.
2. Ink your tile (or whatever) lightly with the clear/tinted embosssing =
ink and set in bottom of box lid.=20
3. Pour on AG or UTEE/P, shake off excess and return excess to original =
container.
4. Use heat gun to melt powder.
5. Remove heat momentarily to dump more AG or UTEE/P on and shake off =
excess. Heat again. Apparently one of the tricks is to try to keep the =
heat on this stuff as consistently as possible. Try not to give the =
product or the heat gun any cooling off time because it may be easy to =
scorch when reheating from cool.
6. After heating this 2nd time, pinch a bit of transparent ep from =
container and sprinkle into hot, wet AG or UTEE/P. Repeat as often as =
necessary if you want to add more of the transparent ep, heating the whole =
time.=20
7. Repeat #5 for third layer except now your AG or UTEE/P may be contaminat=
ed with the transparent ep--you may want to keep it separate from the =
"clean" AG or UTEE/P. You can quit with this layer or continue for a few =
more layers.=20
8. After heating the last layer, pick up your pre-inked stamp and impress =
into the hot wet AG or UTEE/P. Don't push too hard or you'll get an =
impression of the cushion as well as the image. Hold it steady for 15 or =
20 seconds and then remove.
9. Admire your handiwork!

Subject: RS: Official Cute Only UM RR...
If you're playing, get these in the mail tomorrow! Due by the 23rd!
Okay players, here's the scoop:
* Each player should send me 7-10 CUTE UNMOUNTED stamps. Sayings are
okay as long as they are not strange, remember this is cute stuff.
I have enough for two groups. Each bag will be sent to it's group and
each person in the group will get a turn to see, take and add stamps.
* Each player must put the bag in the mail no later that 48 hours after
they get it. Get it on Monday, in the mail no later than Wednesday.
* Each player may take as many as they like and must place back in the
bag as many as they take. Remember to try to replace large with large
and small with small.
Cute only, please. When the bags have gone through all the groups, I
will divy up the remainders and send each player a packet of stamps to
close the round robin.
I still have some room for more players if there is anyone out there who
wants to play.
Send UMs to me by Feb 23, and I'll get them bagged and back out to you by
the 25th.
