I just forwarded the entire questionnaire to the mail part and filled it out
there. You have to highlight the parts all the way down and then click on
the forward button on the left side. Then when you have it all in an email
window you can delete the parts you don't want or need. Try it and let me
know how you do - then when you are finished you put janet's email addy in
the To section
Good luck - try it with this one for practice - Mary

HI
For the light box you could use something like a clear plastic recipe
box with a small flashlight in it. To do the outlining you can use a pen
that has run out of ink. And most of all you can use any stencil. It
doesn't even have to be very thick. You can even copy an image onto card
stock to make your own stencil of anything you want.
P.S. I like doing this kind of thing.(can you tell)

I went to my first stamp convention in georgia and had a great time. The
best part was the pins given to me by wonderful people. I still have
them and every so often I look at them and learn. I didnt know about
trading pins. But I MOST certainly will be making at least 150 pins for
the next convention. But i have a SERIOUS problem. I CANT decide which
stamp to use.. There is one that matches my personality and MAYBE ill
use that one its a stamp of a MAD person

Subject: TAN: It's a DH Birthday
Today is Rich's birthday. I actually BAKED him a cake, and made his
favorite dinner - sausage and peppers. Then I let him go out to play
billiards (it's his league night anyway). I even made him a birthday
card with rubber stamps. A wolf head embossed in silver on black,
layered on alminum foil bordered with wolf pawprints, and then on green
cardstock. While he was out, I SEWED him an apron out of heavy denim
(he's only been asking for it for months). He needs it to cover his
precious bod and legs when he's pouring lead and making his bullets.
Well, I bought the fabric months ago, but it got lost in my craft,
sewing, rubberstamping studio and I couldn't find it so I had to buy more
(just another excuse to go into JoAnne's and spend lots of $$$). So now
it's done and he'll stop hounding me every time I sit down at the
computer to play. Oh I also got him a beautiful fauxa antique, faux
jade and faux ivory chess set. It's really georgeous.
The board is the box, with drawers to hold the pieces. It's made of the
faux jade and Ivory and looks all carved in Inka designs. The jade
pieces look like Inkan Indias and the ivory pieces look like Spaniards.

Sure Kathie. Be glad to. Thank you for asking me.
Cut the fun foam in the exact shape you want to use - in this case I
traced around the heart
shaped box lid. Cutting with fancy edgers makes it especially nice.
Before you heat your fun foam, select your stamp, and ink it up good,
letting it sit on the ink pad
for easy access. On the TV they used permanent black ink. I used Vivid
dye ink - brown.
Lay the piece on a heat resistant surface (I used the ceramic tile on my
heat gun stand), and
blast away at it with the heat gun. About 15-20 seconds on one side,
then turn it over and give it
another 15-20 seconds. Be careful now. It's hot. It will curl a little
around the edges, but that's
ok, make it look more real actually.
While the foam is hot and soft, stamp your image into it, pressing down
really hard to be sure it
gets deeply impressed (on the other hand, not so deep that you impress
the edges of the die or
mount). Hold it there a second or two and lift straight up.
Now, press down with your hand to smooth it out. See that? It looks a
little like leather already.
But then you want to take your cosmetic sponge, pat it on the ink pad and
rub it all around the
edges into the crevices you made with your fancy edgers. If a little ink
goes up onto the front,
that's ok and adds to the realism. In fact, after that step, I sponged a
little more ink across the
surface just to add to the illusion.
You probably want to spray it with a matte fixative to ensure that it
doesn't wipe off. Now you
glue it to your project or whatever you plan to do with it.
I envision lots of great things to be done with this. Here are some
ideas I have to use it.
Try some of those hair thingies ( the ovals with a hole at either end for
a big pick), and/or
barettes, bookmarks, boxes naturally (jewelry, tissue, knicknack,
whatnot), crosses for bible
markers, pendants on rattail, earrings, key chain tags, and of course,
book covers. Bet you
could even figure a way to make leathery beads to work with Fimo and
Sculpy beads. I plan on
making an album cover that should be spectacular if it comes out anywhere
near the way I see it
in my mind.
I think some Amerian Indian designs, petroglyphs, and western images
would work really well to
simulate the look of real embossed leather.
Do try to get some fun foam for your almost leather projects. The tan is
perfect if you can find it.
Seems like once I started looking for tan and brown, hardly anyone had it
anymore (maybe
Comotion bought it all up for the almost leather kits <GRIN>). I haven't
tried the brown yet, but it
should look nearly as good, especially if you use black and/or gold to
highlight, stain and
embellish. I think it would look really great as book or album covers.
Colors should also look
nice - especially white (real leather is available in many colors...)
