How does everyone keep up with which swaps you are signed up for, the
>details, the due dates, etc. It seems really confusing to me with all the
>great swaps that are going on at the same time!
>
I got one of those yearly planners that have each month on a two page
spread. When a swap comes up that I am interested in, I write it down on
the due date or sign-up date--in pencil. I don't sign up until just before
it is due, to make sure I will really be able to play. This way, I don't
have to withdraw if I can't do it, but that's just my own quirk. Anyway, I
carry the planner with me to work everyday, and look at it occasionally. I
see what's coming up in the near future and start thinking about what I
could do for the swap. When I finally make it official, I go over the
pencilled-in name in pen, and eventually write the date I send the cards
out. When the cards come back, I try to remember to write the date
received, but I don't always remember. Then again, I've only done seven or
eight, so as time goes on, I'm sure I'll get the system down pat.
Just my 2=A2--

Wow! I have gotten really different opinions on how to give credits on
swap cards. Some say sign the cards, some say don't! Some write on the
cards, some use Post-It notes. Maybe this is an individual-thing...like
art! Or maybe the swap hostess should post her preference? Thanks for all
the responses to this question!

How do you usually give credits when doing swaps? Do you write them on the
>back of the card or on a piece of paper taped to the back? If you write
>them on paper and tape to the back, do you even sign your card?
I keep a template in the computer:
Swap Name and Date
My name & e-mail address
Stamps Used
The credits for a recent swap I participated in looked like this:
Background Swap 2/97
Lisa Weiner ljweiner@pipeline.com
Stampendous Marbling Cube TC01
Angel strumming lute-Toad Hall
I leave the most recent credits in the file, and just rewrite over them
with the new credits when I am ready to send off a new swap package. I
print out the number I need and glue them to the back of the card.

Subject: RS: Grapevine Convention (long)
Hi Everybody!! I made it! I survived! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!!
Here's my tale of excitement...Connie Cole (CC), her Mom Mary, and I
flew up to Dallas Saturday morning, arriving at 8 a.m. Connie got her
tin can rental (oops...that was a car), and we drove straight to the
convention center. Got there a little after nine, and the crowd was
already building. We got in line and the pin trading was already in
progress. I think I traded away most of my pins in about 10 minutes!!
But I got some kewl ones in return. They let us in at 10 am... I had
made a list of things I knew I wanted - fer shur - so I hit those places
first. Then spent the next six hours being overwhelmed. I must have
stayed in the pit-of-rubber at Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers for over an
hour... what an experience! I found a new favorite company in Toybox
rubberstamps. I love their stuff. Unfortunately, they didn't bring
their unmounted to the show... Learned awesome new things at the Art
Institute Glitter booth...
At 11 am we (the listees) met at Linda Malcolm-Lim's booth, Stamp Out
Cute. It was so kewl to finally put faces with names!!! I met so many
people... Shannon Green, Linda Malcolm-Lim, Kandee Block, Ginny Newman,
Stacia Blodgett, Vicki (Cajunstamper), Sue (thepaperlady), and so many
others (sorry if I forgot someone!!). Sandy Lemons Definately won the
big hair contest!!!! Shannon was a close second! I missed meeting
Janet (boo hoo!)... someone said she wasn't feeling well. We all
visited a bit, took some pictures and then split up and agreed to meet
back at 5 pm at the front of the convention center.
I spent the rest of the day either browsing, buying, learning (I met
Mary Jo McGraw, saw her demo for JudiKins, and got her autograph on my
book!!) and then buying more!! I worked with Babette Cox at the VLVS!
booth for part of the afternoon...it was lots of fun and Babette and her
husband Doug are great people. I got one of Stampo's pounds of rubber
for my efforts, and I bought some of his famous rubber scissors for
cutting all the unmounted's I bought. A very worthy investment. I have
to say that I definately like Stamp Out Cute, JudiKins, RBBB, Toybox,
VLVS!, Stamp Cabana, and Rubber Gems the best of all that were there.
There were several companies that carried lots of country and cute
stamps... those are not my style and so I didn't look much at those.
After it was over, we all decided to meet at Red Robin for dinner... we
were able to get about 25 of us at two tables out on the porch
there...IT WAS GREAT!! I sat with Stacia Blodgett, StamperKat, Linda
Malcolm-Lim at my end of the table. I so enjoyed visiting with them.
Afterward, we dropped packages off at the hotel and headed out to Paper
Routes, a totally awesome exotic paper store that was staying open past
midnight. They don't sell cardstock, but they do sell papers in huge
sheets...all kinds...handmade, mulberry's, bark, indian,
oriental...hundreds and hundreds of different things. I have never ever
seen so much paper in one place. I did get some neat stuff.
I flew back this morning and have been playing with all my stuff. I
can't wait til the next one. I should start saving now!!!
This convention was incredible! So many vendors...so much to look at,
learn and buy. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. **SIGH**
That is my quick rundown of the what I experienced. Everybody else can
fill in what I missed, especially for Sunday!!!
One contented stamper,
Sue

envelope? Are postoids the same thing as faux postage stamps? Huh? Where am

I always stamp the card with my dragonfolk stamp, and now I print out the
stamp credits and name of swap and then glue the top edge of it to the cards.
This way if anyone wants to use the card it peels off. I stamp my name stamp
because if anyone uses the card they might want to ask me about technique etc

Hi Pamela I have a card index which I've put into months, it also has my
snail addys in. I move the months around so the cuirrent one is at the front.
As I join a swap I make a card out with all the details, due date number etc.
I don't keep them on the computer because I always find it easier this way.

They are the same thing and I put them on the outside of my envelope,
right next to the real postage. You can put them wherever you want. :)

Whatever you do, credits or not, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS sign your
cards!!!
They're YOUR work and YOU should be proud enough of them to put your
signature
on them. Years down the road, when everyone has long since forgotten the
swap,
someone will get out your card and look on the back, and there your name
will be...
ALWAYS sign your work.
