  21. I lately started to watch 7the heaven because of the previews. They made it 
  22. look funny. That what gets me started to watch a show but Roswell is 
  23. portrayed as a really serious show but its not that serious. Take the 
  24. Christmas Nazi thing. They should show more stuff like that for the previews 
  25. than  the whole serious things. I know for a fact that this is the reason why 
  26. some people start to watch these kinds of shows. I think people don't just 
  27. watch on a show becuase its so serious. They get hooked for that reeason.

  89. I agree with everything you said here!  The only reason I
  90. watched 7th Heaven was because I was familiar with Stephen
  91. Collins and his body of work.  He is a very good actor.

  93. I enjoy different shows for different reasons - Roswell has
  94. just been an obsession for me - The complete draw for me was
  95. the Max and Liz relationship - period!!!

  98. relationships, bond with people for one reason or another
  99. (i.e. This message board...) to satisfy - as you put it
  100. "other 'wants' " Roswell (the first season) showed how
  101. people formed friendships, fell in love, etc. - I really
  102. don't know where the second season is trying to go - I
  103. really miss the story I followed so faithfully in season one
  104. and trying to enjoy and fill in for season two.  I want
  105. more - is that so bad?

  315. That's kind of you! I've been doing a lot more lecturing recently - and
  316. there's lots coming over the next few months, too, so I've been
  317. concentrating on getting that organised rather than enjoying watching
  318. Roswell episodes! Having done my 'Artist as SuperHero' lecture last August,
  319. with clips of Lois & Clark, a New Zealand show called The Tribe, and
  320. talking about Roswell as well as Fight Club and other things - even a few
  321. artists! - I've used up my quota of tv references for a while!
  322.  
  323. Having the great privilege of being able to watch the current series only a
  324. week or two after you, I've found myself a bit 'conditioned' by some of the
  325. responses that have been offered on the list - for example, I thought the
  326. episode in which 'futureMax' gets obliterated was going to be awful, as
  327. most people didn't like it, but I reacted entirely different when I
  328. actually saw it, and found it one of the best of the season so far.
  329.  
  330. I've been meaning - since before Christmas - to run through the tapes again
  331. and write about my reactions to the episodes we've seen so far, but there
  332. just hasn't been time yet. I will try soon, though, even at the risk of
  333. thoroughly horrifying some members!

  339. It was certainly my way in, though I've come to enjoy more than just the
  340. relationship since the first catch.

  346. Me too - because the announced increase in sci-fi content seems to have
  347. produced a piebald horse of a show, with brown blotches where it used to be
  348. more consistently coloured. To make a slightly unfair analogy, it feels as
  349. though they've put chocolates and salted peanuts in the same bowl, to try
  350. and please more different sorts of people - but actually only disappointing
  351. more in the process.
  352.  
  353. Having said that, though, my first watching of the series so far has left a
  354. few really strong images - the very last scene (I think) of the 1947
  355. episode, for example, where Michael talks to the 'old man' in a way that
  356. really penetrates his own important issues, and uses a flame as a visual
  357. metaphor for what's being talked about. While Roswell can scale those
  358. heights, I'll keep watching, even if it's sometimes hugely frustrating too.

  494. i watched 7th heaven just once and gawd (!) that was ENOUGH for me.
  495. it is SO preachy. funny in the once that i watched it (a year ago?) it was 
  496. preaching about the evils of (can't remember but it was this stupid) using 
  497. the phone to much or not making their beds correctly, now the commercials 
  498. for it are about how someone is using marijuana.
  499. i guess that just shows ,that a show that is already doing well in the 
  500. ratings can surcumbing to... well ....
  501. i think that Jason Katims had an idea and he has stuck with it, he is not 
  502. surcumbing to the network to get better ratings.
  503. Roswell is good just as it is.

  1063. 'returning to its roots,' as the following article states (thanks to the

  1070. regarding character-based development of the show, and how we wanted at
  1071. least some of that back. Certainly, "To Serve and Protect" shows some

  1076. - -Return of Grant Sorenson, only because he disappeared from
  1077.  the story so mysteriously;
  1078. - -Return of the judge, who granted Michael the petition for
  1079.  emancipation (at least, I think this was the same actor.);
  1080. - -Reminding us that Roswell is a small town, and the characters
  1081.  are from a small town, and the mention of the '285' highway
  1082.  (just as a reminder of "285 South");
  1083. - -Return of humans as the bigger enemy than some ill-conceived
  1084.  storyline of alien enemies that we know nothing about;
  1085. - -Good strong storyline for Valenti;
  1086. - -Obviously, another new hybrid alien.
  1087.  
  1088. Things I didn't like:
  1089.  
  1090. - -The sheriff has "known the Fosters for years", but did not
  1091.  recognize the daughter when she showed up;
  1092. - -Who was the gunman?? Odd that we cut away from the scene
  1093.  so quickly, with no mention of motive or intent;
  1094. - -Where was Colin/Alex? I don't think Michael had but
  1095.  a few lines either;
  1096. - -Weak character establishment, namely introduction of
  1097.  new characters in a soap-operatic fashion. Who's
  1098.  Sean, for instance? No clear reason why he was in
  1099.  the story, or what kind of trouble he is going to
  1100.  be. I didn't see any point in his introduction
  1101.  at this time.
  1102.  
  1103. I can only guess that the gunman was in some way trying to lure the pod
  1104. squad into saving the girl, then knocking them off. But why? Is he a 'real'
  1105. alien hunter? I also hope when the show is in need of ratings, they don't
  1106. constantly come up with another hybrid alien to deal with. We already have a
  1107. Tess.

  1129. Me too. Not only reminded me of "The Matrix" but also a Buffy episode, 
  1130. "Primeval" where she basically did the same thing, blocked bullets with a 
  1131. force field (for lack of a better phrase)

  1133. And so happy to see Krakow! I loved him on "MSCL" and I even tuned into a 
  1134. rather bad ABC series he had a role on, "Relativity" just to see him. BTW, 
  1135. the guy's real name is Devon Gummersall. So we have a name to call him

  1138. Really enjoyed last night's episode thanks to our dry spell of reruns. I 
  1139. think it made me appreciate it more! And is it me, or is anyone else really 
  1140. missing the presence of Colin Hanks? I mean, they threw Michael in for a 
  1141. scene or two. I know there are episodes here and there where a character 
  1142. doesn't show up at all, but he's been missing a LOT it seems. (I did miss the 
  1143. opening few miinutes of the show, so if he showed up there, I'll shut up now 
  1144. LOL)
