i mean he has survived this long, and there is the *healing thing* that the
aliens have to ability to do (like max did when Liz was shot in the first
ep).
i have learned sometime ago, that the trailers for next weeks' eps are not
*exactly* what REALLY happens in the shows, but monday ep looks like it is
going to be very intense.
i can't wait!

I thought about this too, because it is odd that Nasedo didn't apparently
care about Liz's life at all, yet saves her in the end. But if you think
about it, he could have just kept her [still] as a hostage, so that he could
get out of there and shape shift again into something else (in this case, a
clown.) So I don't think he really showed any compassion for her in the end.
Why he left Max -- at the moment in time -- to fend for himself is still
uncertain...

Thanks, Martha and Mel,
Can't wait to see what you all have to say and find a place to jump in. I,
too, tend to analze and speculate a lot. Oh, and I'm also happen to be very
long-of-wind. . . (Apologies in advance!)

It's been an excrutiating week, waiting for tomorrow night. And what's worse
for me, I *work* while it's on and so will have to wait until I get home the
next morning to watch it. It's so pathetic, but I find myself looking at the
clock from 9 to 10, wondering what's going on and how things are faring.
I'm amazed at home obsessed with this show I've become. In a way it's kind
of nice.
I'll just turn the story over and over in my head, speculating on what it
all means.
Here's a for instance:
Both time that Liz kissed Nasedo Max, she saw a vision that included what I
*thought* was an image of herself, lying dead on the ground. When I posed
this to another list, it was pointed out that the woman lying on the ground
was actually Hubble's wife. I re-watched (. . .um, let's see, it's been 3
times now. . . No, I'm not obsessed. . .) and it *was* Hubble's wife. Why do
you think Nasedo would have that buried in his head? Guilt over killing
someone who wasn't actually a threat to him/them? Did he have some sort of
feelings for her? Had he shape-shifted into Hubble at one point to find out
how dangerous he was and end up getting involved with her? (We already knows
he has a taste for . . . the ladies.) Was, in fact, the baby his? Is that
even possible? Did he kill her because if she gave birth it would spell
disaster for him (and the Pod Squad he was trying to protect?)
Hmmmm. . .
. . .and now I'm late for work, so I'm gonna run.
Looking forward to this!
Irene

Ok, I'm just reaching here, but, right before max gets captured and Nasedo
is trying to get him to leave and he says he won't, He then sees Liz and
pushes past Nasedo. Then it shows Nasedo with this defeated look on his
face. Maybe he saves Liz because he realizes how much she means to max. You
know, Max was willing to risk his own life for her, several times, so
obviously she's very important to him. Maybe Nasedo is starting to
understand how important Liz is to Max. Just a thought.

Does it really? That would be interesting. We go on about how good Jason's
acting was in this episode, but with stuff like this it's not just fun to
watch, but informative. Good catch on your part, if real.

Yes, as in "if he can blame me for her death I'll never get through to him."

Gods, know.
Which still raises the question of why he's afraid of Pierce. Or how Max will
be contained.
<wild>
Hmm. If the Orbs are from the ship's computer, and Nacedo is a fugitive said
computer doesn't like, and Pierce's orb is the "left brain" with actual
language ability, unlike the image-orb which reeled Liz in, then maybe it's
been telling him how to contain aliens.

Wait, you think that was part of the original plan? That would put a new
light on things. Liz would be the bait for Max, not just a hostage against
Pierce. But Nacedo snapped at Max to get out of there.
But it's definitely an idea.

But Max got knocked out by the car crash.
But he healed fairly quickly, without much intervention. And Nacedo's
stronger. Well, except for sweat lodges, where he collapses in a few seconds.
I have daydreamed of Nacedo taking some bullets to his 'gut', flinching, and
continuing on. "What vital organs?" And I expect members of his civilization
don't suffer from old age.
On the other hand anything's killable if you squish it or blow it up enough.
Unless it has a backup somewhere, but I really don't expect that of the show.
Although it'd be cool if the orbs held copies of the mind-state of anyone who
died on the ship. If there was anyone to die on the ship.

I suspect WB has a department of sadistic trailer composition. Later
Babylon-5, Buffy, and now Roswell. Sometimes I'm convinced they have to be
watching the episode in full first, just so they can go for maximum
misdirection.
(Vs. early Babylon-5 trailiers, which looked just thrown together.)

So, I re-watched it last night, and the voiceover says "What do you do when
ever the truth can't set you free?" And I was wondering if that meant what we
see is some hallucination or something more twisted. But then I went for the
obvious:
<torture> "Tell us what you know!" "I don't know anything!" <more torture>
But, misdirection... I don't know what to expect. We did see flashes not
from the white room, of the others, but I didn't get anything out of those.

Hey Guys,
Wow. I don't think that I've fully recovered from that episode yet. That =
was at times painful to watch but always compelling.I don't think I've =
cried more for a Roswell episode. It was also wonderfully acted by all =
but most notably by Jason Behr and Katherine Heigl. So much to praise =
about this episode. I can't believe next week is the season finale. =
Let's hope Brendan was right when he said that they would be picked up =
next season for sure! :)
1) The Opening Scene: I thought the opening scene really set the tone =
for the whole episode. I loved the jarring camera work and thought it =
was the most ambitious it's been this season. It totally enhanced the =
claustrophic atmosphere and let us into the confusion and fear that Max =
was feeling. Also of note was Max saying that "Earth was his home =
planet." I thought that was so moving simply because it's the truth. =
Earth is his home.
2) The Group Without Max: It was really weird to see the group sans =
their "leader." There was a lot of panicking about what to do and a lot =
of fear but I enjoyed seeing them all fighting to find Max. Though there =
was an eventual separation,(more on that later) there was also a sense =
of "one of our own is in trouble and we're going to do everything and =
anything to rescue him" mentality. I enjoyed seeing that. What I didn't =
like though was how Tess became a semi-surrogate "leader." I know she =
was the most logical choice since she has been in hiding for so long, =
but it still didn't feel right with me.
3) Alien Biology Lessons: Another thing that I thought was fascinating =
was the revelation of how "Human" the aliens really are. To have human =
physiology but not biology is an interesting twist. I guess this is =
irrefutable proof that the aliens were indeed engineered. Ironically, I =
think Max was as interested in finding out about his body as Pierce was. =
It's funny that the only way for Max to find out the truth about the =
alien inner workings was through Pierce. While Pierce was torturing Max =
for answers, he was inadvertently giving them.=20
4) The Couples: I am one of the people that misses the romance since the =
new shift to sci-fi. Don't get me wrong because I have been completely =
enthralled by the new developements, but I also really miss the magical =
moments in episodes like "Leaving Norma" and "Blind Date." However, I =
think that while the writers have sacrificed the "lovey dovey" moments =
that a romantic like me craves, they have developed even stronger bonds =
between the couples.=20
a) Alex and Isabel: Alex continues to amaze me with his loyalty to =
Isabel. He is such a wonderful friend/boyfriend and I hope that the =
writers let this relationship grow and develope into something sweet. =
The inception of this relationship has really been born out of dealing =
with the "alien thing" and I think it would be nice to see them do =
regular things.=20
b) Michael and Maria: I thought their one "shippy moment" where =
Maria worries for Michael's safety was very sweet. I think it's going to =
be interesting to see Michael try and deal with his "destiny" and how he =
feels for Maria. Though he's not one to readily admit his feelings, it's =
obvious how much he cares for Maria( though she makes him vulnerable and =
"human"), the thing that scares Michael the most. Hopefully, having seen =
the flipside of that in Nasedo, he will be more open to a real =
relatiionship with her.=20
c) Max and Liz: Though they didn't share a scene together at all, =
their bond is stronger and more apparent than ever. I love how Liz was =
willing to risk it all to save Max and how traumatized Max was to see =
Liz's virtual "death." It was so sad the way Max screamed when he =
thought something had happened to Liz. The clenched jaw and fists, =
coupled with his plea to Pierce to not hurt Liz was indicative of how =
deep their love runs. Max would have done anything at that moment to =
make sure Liz was alright. If he had any information to give, I'm sure =
he would have easily given it up in exchange for her safety.=20
5) Nasedo and Michael: Another wonderful scene and a great performance =
by Brendan(though I might be biased since he was such a sweetheart at =
Macys) ;) I loved how Nasedo reprimanded Michael by saying that =
"emotions are a weakness." Michael, who thinks that he has a stone wall =
feels things like everyone else and Nasedo was able to pick up on how =
"human" he really is in a matter of seconds. Sadly, Michael had been =
longing for a "father figure" in Nasedo for so long and it's obvous that =
Nasedo is not the father, in the "traditional" sense that he had been =
hoping for. Nasedo is methodical and emotionless. He's not a nurturer =
and I think that's what Michael had been craving. In many ways, his =
dreams were dashed tonight.
6) Humans and Aliens: One thing that was not only foreshadowing but =
foreboding, was the separation between the aliens and humans as they =
searched for Max. Tess' declaration that the humans would be "a =
liability" and the parting shot of the three aliens in search of their =
own while the three humans were left behind, is certainly setting us up =
for the season finale. I see bad things with this. I'm sure we'll all =
have much to say about the destiny issue after the season(and hopefully =
not series) finale.=20
7) Jason : Okay, once again, I have to just take a little time to praise =
the hell out of Jason. For me, he is the core of the show. His torture =
scenes, in the hands of a less talented actor, could have come off as =
cheesy and fake. Instead, Jason was as incredible as ever. I felt for =
him at every moment and really at times feared for his welfare. I could =
tell that this was Max's nightmare come true and this is mostly due to =
Jason's superb acting. Without the use of dialogue, he was still able to =
convey so much hurt, pain and fear. He really is just amazing.
Some Minor Observations:=20
a) Where the hell are the parents? If my children were gone all =
day and night, I would worry. The writers really need to address this =
issue.=20
b) This could fall under my "shallow" post but didn't Michael =
look adorable in a suit with his hair flattened? :)
c) Again, I hate to say it but I really feel that Emilie brings =
down the overall momentum of a scene. For example, I thought that Katy =
practically annihilated her acting wise in their one-on-one scenes =
together. Emilie gives the most obvious delivery of the simplest lines. =
It might be because she is trying to hide her accent but it's still =
difficult for me to accept her in this cast when the rest of them are so =
strong.=20
Weekly Shallow Post: Okay, is it wrong of me to thing naughty things =
when I see Max chained to a wall? Oh there would be experimentation but =
just not the kind Pierce was thinking of ;) Oh and come on, shirtless =
Max is always a treat. I thought Michael looked adorable and I really =
love Majandra's new haircut. Did I mention Shirtless Max yet?.... ;)
All in all, this was an outstanding episode. It was relentless and =
didn't let you go until the very last minute. Though I would love to see =
a little more romance, I think that next week will be filled with both =
good and bad 'shipper moments. I for one and dying to know about Max's =
destiny and where everyone does and does not fit into that plan. Seeing =
Liz breaking down as she walked away from Max in the previews is =
probably going to break my heart. This episode though was absolutely =
brilliant. A definite 10! Can't wait until next week. Take care all!! =
Gina :)

Ok...not time for major replies (Logis take home test to finish)...and you
will all be mad at this shallow post, but its in reply to Gina, so give me a
break...LOL
b) This could fall under my "shallow" post but didn't Michael look
adorable in a suit with his hair flattened? :)
This is definitely my weaknes...Hot guys in suits..ahhh...definitely a
trun-on for Mel. Ok, so I was in provate school my whole life and saw this
everyday, but OMG, brendan...very cute...like Jason at the Espy's cute.
Back to Roswell...I agree...Katie and Jason were fantastic.I really felt for
Isabel and Katie pulled it off marvelously. Since I would have given Max
performer of the week in Max to the MAx, Katie gets my vote this week. I
also noticed Emilie is extremely tiny...even next to Shiri she was small.

Subject: [roswell] SPOILERS: Thoughts and Observations about The White
Room
Hey Guys,
Wow. I don't think that I've fully recovered from that episode yet. That
was at times painful to watch but always compelling.I don't think I've cried
more for a Roswell episode. It was also wonderfully acted by all but most
notably by Jason Behr and Katherine Heigl. So much to praise about this
episode. I can't believe next week is the season finale. Let's hope Brendan
was right when he said that they would be picked up next season for sure! :)
1) The Opening Scene: I thought the opening scene really set the tone for
the whole episode. I loved the jarring camera work and thought it was the
most ambitious it's been this season. It totally enhanced the claustrophic
atmosphere and let us into the confusion and fear that Max was feeling. Also
of note was Max saying that "Earth was his home planet." I thought that was
so moving simply because it's the truth. Earth is his home.
2) The Group Without Max: It was really weird to see the group sans their
"leader." There was a lot of panicking about what to do and a lot of fear
but I enjoyed seeing them all fighting to find Max. Though there was an
eventual separation,(more on that later) there was also a sense of "one of
our own is in trouble and we're going to do everything and anything to
rescue him" mentality. I enjoyed seeing that. What I didn't like though was
how Tess became a semi-surrogate "leader." I know she was the most logical
choice since she has been in hiding for so long, but it still didn't feel
right with me.
3) Alien Biology Lessons: Another thing that I thought was fascinating was
the revelation of how "Human" the aliens really are. To have human
physiology but not biology is an interesting twist. I guess this is
irrefutable proof that the aliens were indeed engineered. Ironically, I
think Max was as interested in finding out about his body as Pierce was.
It's funny that the only way for Max to find out the truth about the alien
inner workings was through Pierce. While Pierce was torturing Max for
answers, he was inadvertently giving them.
4) The Couples: I am one of the people that misses the romance since the
new shift to sci-fi. Don't get me wrong because I have been completely
enthralled by the new developements, but I also really miss the magical
moments in episodes like "Leaving Norma" and "Blind Date." However, I think
that while the writers have sacrificed the "lovey dovey" moments that a
romantic like me craves, they have developed even stronger bonds between the
couples.
a) Alex and Isabel: Alex continues to amaze me with his loyalty to
Isabel. He is such a wonderful friend/boyfriend and I hope that the writers
let this relationship grow and develope into something sweet. The inception
of this relationship has really been born out of dealing with the "alien

b) Michael and Maria: I thought their one "shippy moment" where Maria
worries for Michael's safety was very sweet. I think it's going to be
interesting to see Michael try and deal with his "destiny" and how he feels
for Maria. Though he's not one to readily admit his feelings, it's obvious
how much he cares for Maria( though she makes him vulnerable and "human"),
the thing that scares Michael the most. Hopefully, having seen the flipside
of that in Nasedo, he will be more open to a real relatiionship with her.
c) Max and Liz: Though they didn't share a scene together at all,
their bond is stronger and more apparent than ever. I love how Liz was

virtual "death." It was so sad the way Max screamed when he thought

Max would have done anything at that moment to make sure Liz was alright. If
he had any information to give, I'm sure he would have easily given it up in
exchange for her safety.
5) Nasedo and Michael: Another wonderful scene and a great performance by
Brendan(though I might be biased since he was such a sweetheart at Macys) ;)
I loved how Nasedo reprimanded Michael by saying that "emotions are a
weakness." Michael, who thinks that he has a stone wall feels things like
everyone else and Nasedo was able to pick up on how "human" he really is in
a matter of seconds. Sadly, Michael had been longing for a "father figure"

that moment to make sure Liz was alright. If he had any information to =
give,=20
I'm sure he would have easily given it up in exchange for her safety.=20

5) Nasedo and Michael: Another =
wonderful=20
scene and a great performance by Brendan(though I might be biased =
since he was=20
such a sweetheart at Macys) ;) I loved how Nasedo reprimanded Michael =
by=20
saying that "emotions are a weakness." Michael, who thinks that he has =
a stone=20
wall feels things like everyone else and Nasedo was able to pick up on =
how=20
"human" he really is in a matter of seconds. Sadly, Michael had been =
longing=20
for a "father figure" in Nasedo for so long and it's obvous that =
Nasedo is not=20
the father, in the "traditional" sense that he had been hoping for. =
Nasedo is=20
methodical and emotionless. He's not a nurturer and I think that's =
what=20
Michael had been craving. In many ways, his dreams were dashed=20
tonight.

6) Humans and Aliens: One thing =
that was=20
not only foreshadowing but foreboding, was the separation between the =
aliens=20
and humans as they searched for Max. Tess' declaration that the humans =
would=20
be "a liability" and the parting shot of the three aliens in search of =
their=20
own while the three humans were left behind, is certainly setting us =
up for=20
the season finale. I see bad things with this. I'm sure we'll all have =
much to=20
say about the destiny issue after the season(and hopefully not series) =
finale.=20

7) Jason : Okay, once again, I =
have to just=20
take a little time to praise the hell out of Jason. For me, he is the =
core of=20
the show. His torture scenes, in the hands of a less talented actor, =
could=20
have come off as cheesy and fake. Instead, Jason was as =
incredible as=20
ever. I felt for him at every moment and really at times feared for =
his=20
welfare. I could tell that this was Max's nightmare come true and this =
is=20
mostly due to Jason's superb acting. Without the use of dialogue, he =
was still=20
able to convey so much hurt, pain and fear. He really is just=20
amazing.

Some Minor Observations: =

a) Where the =
hell are=20
the parents? If my children were gone all day and night, I would =
worry. The=20
writers really need to address this issue.

b) This =
could=20
fall under my "shallow" post but didn't Michael look adorable in a =
suit with=20
his hair flattened? :)

c) =
Again, I hate=20
to say it but I really feel that Emilie brings down the overall =
momentum of a=20
scene. For example, I thought that Katy practically annihilated her =
acting=20
wise in their one-on-one scenes together. Emilie gives the most =
obvious=20
delivery of the simplest lines. It might be because she is trying to =
hide her=20
accent but it's still difficult for me to accept her in this cast when =
the=20
rest of them are so strong.

Weekly Shallow Post: Okay, is it =
wrong of=20
me to thing naughty things when I see Max chained to a wall? Oh there =
would be=20
experimentation but just not the kind Pierce was thinking of ;) Oh and =
come=20
on, shirtless Max is always a treat. I thought Michael looked adorable =
and I=20
really love Majandra's new haircut. Did I mention Shirtless Max =
yet?....=20
;)

All in all, this was an outstanding episode. It =
was=20
relentless and didn't let you go until the very last minute. Though I =
would=20
love to see a little more romance, I think that next week will be =
filled with=20
both good and bad 'shipper moments. I for one and dying to know about =
Max's=20
destiny and where everyone does and does not fit into that plan. =
Seeing Liz=20
breaking down as she walked away from Max in the previews is probably =
going to=20
break my heart. This episode though was absolutely brilliant. A =
definite 10!=20
Can't wait until next week. Take care all!! Gina :)
