LOL!
don't feel embarressed about that..
b/c i thought that it WAS hank when we saw the rambler in the remote area...
and i thought that hank being a *drunk* and drinking as usual, was eating
tic tacs to hide his breath.
watching the rerun again tonight.... and knowing *what* happened..
i too wonder about the pills...
my bro and i had a debate about this...
the pills? are they *human* available pills ( yeah, right, what pills do
that) or are they *alien* pills (which after 50+ years) STILL be
available???

Me too, but I held out for a couple of episodes to see if it could keep up
with itself. Roswell's underlying plot has a large potential to write itself
into a corner, but so far they've done a very good job at keeping us in the
dark about many of the mysteries (such as Nasedo and our gang's true
identities and what they're capable of), yet give us just enough to come
back for more.
I've had a couple of people tell me they like 'The Balance' the best, but
mine would be a toss-up between the Pilot and just this week's episode,
'Independence Day.' If they continue to write more like that, I think we'll
be seeing a lot of Roswell for a long time to come.
I wonder if you [all] prefer the more romantic episodes, like Blind Date, or
the more stirring/powerful episodes, such as I.D.?

I haven't read the books yet, is this also what happened there? I ask
because, if you don't mind me spoiling everyone a bit about this early draft
of the original pilot script we're having the contest for, this is exactly
what happens to Max. He tries to save someone, but fails and it was too late
to save them. But that's all I'll give away for now. ;)

I think so too. Plus, it makes sense realistically for the show. If Nasedo
were good, then it makes moving the story forward a bit more complicated.
Would he be able to take them home? Would he just be another stranded person
like them, and then join our gang and teach them new things? I figure
probably not. I am figuring that he's -- at least in human eyes -- evil, and
our gang will have to make the gut-wrenching decision to kill him, or at
least banish him. Imagine how this would especially affect Michael, as he's
so desperately wants/ed a real father.

I think one or two were close to the throats, but most were closer to the
heart.

That's ok -- I think that name was particularly popular for 80's -born
children. But you could always come up with a unique symbol, like 'The
Artist Formerly Known As...' for yourself. Maybe the Egyptian symbol 'Ahnk?'
("life") And then we could say, 'Oh yea, I know ol' Ahnk. Never forget
her.' ;)
I'm obviously very tired...

Based on what I wrote earlier, you might have something there. If so, you'd
have to give yourself a pat on the back for being very perseptive. ;) It's
certainly plausible anyway, I'm just curious what we'd do with this new
character. If they worked him in as a good guy, I just don't see him
sticking around for any duration...

This is what I think as well. Stepping into science-mode here, I would
imagine any alien civilization's morality, social structure, and just
general idea of 'right' and 'wrong' would be totally warpped to us, and
simply may not exist for them in the same manner. Obviously, if such an
advanced culture existed, surely they would only find humans nothing more
than a nuassance such as an ant farm, and distiguish of it if they truly
wanted something of this planet.
Or, perhaps like humans of today with animals, some may be more
compassionate, and others totally indifferent.

> had he not stepped in to help Michael earlier?
Exactly -- I think he's more concerned about his own hide, than anything
else. I think it's also likely that if he truly cared for our gang, then he
would have emerged much sooner for them.
Others here have gone into much deeper speculation about species and so
forth, and that, I think, would lead us to begin to speculate about some
kind of war going on that we don't know about. For instance, perhaps the
whole crash occured because of some alien war between the species, and
perhaps our gang has been purposefully given amnesia for their own
protection, and meant to live among humans as a disguise against this other
species rather than a fear of humans and what their potential for harm is.
However, I really doubt the show is going to go in that direction. But it's
certainly an interesting thought...

You know, I haven't really even thought about this, but you may be exactly
right -- and this may be the impetus that our alien gang will use to destroy
Nasedo (if, indeed, they must).

The muscle relaxant theory is a very good one. The only other thing I could
think of is a stimulator, or something that gives a person an extra burst of

Meg,
I still think they might be tic tacs. When I first saw him popping those I
thought that was just the writer's letting us know who the shapeshifter is.
That would be his trademark. If we see one of the regular cast popping tic
tacs, then we will know it's Nasedo. That's just what I thought when I first
say it, and I still think it could be true. But who knows. <G>
And I get the feeling he is evil too. Even if it's just to the humans, that's
still evil.

I sympathize with those that might get spoilers because of the different
schedules, and other mailing lists may have different rules, but my feeling
on it is, once it's aired on the East Cost then it's free for discussion.
There's just no way to enforce it for everyone (especially for those
overseas), so my recommendation is just to not read any Roswell mail between
those hours on Wednesday evenings until you [anyone] has seen the show. That
is, if you [anyone] don't want spoiler information. :)

Although you can find some of them on websites (which are taking a big risk
of being shut down for it), I think the best way to get ANY kind of music
(MP3) on the internet, is to use Napster.
http://www.napster.com
It's kind of like a chat program, where you can download anyone's MP3's they
have while they're online. With about 1200-2000 people online at any given
time, chances are you can find just about anything. I have most of the music
from Roswell on mine, and you can snag them from me on most evenings. :)

**on this thought - do you think it's going to be a situation of "are you
going to choose Liz, Maria, and Alex, or are you going to choose the only
chance you may ever have to find out about your "Home"? " i think this

Maybe this is just a female point of view. But there's no way that Maria
and Liz wouldn't have dissected and analyzed and agonized over Max's
behavior, wondering what he meant, if he meant anything, and what to do
next. Since Max/Liz weren't the focus of the ep, this could have been
covered really briefly by having a minute of "girl talk" where Liz admits
she's confused/disappointed by his actions, and then Maria launches into
a "just say no" speech about how they both should stop letting the aliens
kiss them. As it was written, the whole "saying no" thing didn't make
much sense to me.
>I'm guessing that our

Oh, I love this idea! That our trio will have to decide which is more
important, their quest for the truth about themselves and possible ties
to their home planet, or the people they've come to love. I hope you're
right! That's a great direction for the story to go.
Just a scriptwriting hole, in my opinion, something the writers could
have easily put in but didn't. And a small quibble really, in such a
great ep.

Well, that's what Michael thought too. A curious thing about Riverdog:
In The (UFO) Convention, Hubbles stated that he purchased some fireworks
from an old Indian on the side of the road. Could it have been Riverdog?
(And would he still have been considered 'old' in 1970?)

What if nasedo actually changes into one of the main characters (max, mike,
isabelle, liz, maria, or alex) in one of the episodes? That would be really
weird, also i don't think tess is nasedo, because she's supposed to kiss max
( :*( i'm gonna cry now) and it would be kind of gross if it was really him.
Tess could also possibly be nasedo daughter, she would be half alien/ human.
Anyway these were just some of my thoughts.

That only happened once in the books. Max tried to save a heart attack
victim, making it look like CPR, but leaving handprints. It happened in
the first book.

That's exactly my reasoning, too (that it would make more sense story wise).
You can't have a show where everyone is pure good. It would be too boring.
Especially this type of show. I mean, where would Buffy be without her
villains?
I really hope the show explores how Michael will deal with it. It seems to
skip over several issues us fans wants it to explore (most notably lately
the whole fiasco in "Blind Date" was barely mentioned in ID4 when everyone
was hoping Max and Liz would have to deal with it).
Ahnk? That's interesting. I'm sure you're right; no one will forget me
that way. But I'm fine with just Meg and unless 3 or 4 others appear on
this list, I think I'll stick with it. Oh, and if 3 or 4 others *do*
appear, I think I'll seriously think about 'Ahnk'. *g*

Now that I've started to think about it, I have to agree. Tictacs, in my
opinion, make more sense than some type of drug. Excellent trademark for a
person who keeps changing their face. As Linda pointed out, that way when
Max or Alex start popping tictacs, we can point at the screen and shout
"Evil Alien!" (And, knowing me, I probably will, and my family will think
me even more weird and obsessed than they already do right now *g*)

Just wondering because I know here in Canada, with the stupid CTV, the
Roswell episodes are shown weeks after they are in the States. Luckily I
get WB and don't have to wait.

I've been kind of thinking about that too. I mean, whether Tess could be
Nasedo's daughter. I haven't been reading spoilers lately, because I'm
determined not to spoil anything else this season in Roswell because it's
much more enjoyable if I don't, but before I quit reading them, I did learn
a bit about Tess.
The main thing is, I haven't decided if I think Nasedo could have a child
with a human. Not just because of the biological thing, but if he could
trust (maybe that's not the right word) a human enough to have a child with
them. As you all know, I'm of the opinion that Nasedo's evil.
But I just can't believe that the writers would shift Nasedo into Tess and
have Tess and Max kiss. That would be just plain icky in the minds of many
viewers and not something they'd do.

That's a good point. A sure-fire way to always tell whether a character is
good or bad is by the type of music they play around them. *g*
