  37. Guza said that "Lizzie's rape will start small and build into 
  38. something big." He also said that "it will involve at least 10 
  39. characters (including Nik and Emily) and will fundamentally change 
  40. their whole perspective about relationships, being a teenager, and 
  41. life itself."   Guza hints that Audrey will eventually find out, but 
  42. her response will not be what we'd predict. "we're going to reach 
  43. back into Audrey's past, there are a couple of aspects of her life 
  44. that are going to directly influence her granddaughter"
  45.  
  46. I read that when Lucky tried to contact Lizzie the next day, she is 
  47. in bed with flu symptoms.  Audrey thanks him for showin Lizzie such a 
  48. good time.  Lizzie refuses to discuss what happened and pleads that 
  49. her not tell Audrey aobut it.  Mustering up courage, Lucky asks 
  50. Lizzie straight up if she was raped.  Liz nods then collapses in his 
  51. arms.  she begs him to forget she ever told him, but he doesn't think 
  52. he should.  the two share an intense heart-to-heart about the 
  53. possibility of HIV and pregnancy. Later, Liz returns to work at 
  54. Kelly's but becomes inexplicably frightened when Mr. Murty approaches 
  55. her.  Luke and Bobbie do their best to comfort her, but she breaks 
  56. down and bolts.  Determined to get to the bottom of the bruises she 
  57. noticed on her sister, Sarah follows Lizzie outside where Lizzie 
  58. confides she was raped.  Taking Liz in her arms, Sarah asks who did 
  59. it.  Through tears, Liz admits she doesn't know.

  92. storyline.  I think most people wrote her off so early on that, because of

  101. I love Lucky.  I always have.  But yesterday he was incredible.  Absolutely
  102. amazing.  Lucky crying in the scenes where he was telling Luke and then at
  103. the end after he took Lizzie home -- fabulous.  And absolutely
  104. heart-wrenching.  I had to watch those several times before I could absorb
  105. the entire scene.

  121. Hopefully it will be.  I think soaps have a very bad habit of doing a
  122. disservice to rape storylines.  If they follow through with how they
  123. handled eysterday, though, it should be pretty good.

  125. The performances all the way around were so right on.  The whole scene with
  126. Luke and Lucky was amazing.  I'll probably have to watch that one a few
  127. more times still.

  261. I don't think Lizzie'd agree.  Lucky, either.  I think this story is being
  262. taken from more of a reactionary stand point than anything else.  I mean,
  263. while this certainly DID happen to Lizzie, the Spencers are being played
  264. into this VERY heavily, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.  And
  265. frankly, if it weren't for the Spencer angle, I don't think they would have
  266. done this story at all (and that, ovjectively speaking, is probably one of
  267. the worst reasons for them to do it; too bad it makes such compelling
  268. story).  Eventually I think they'll really HAVE to focus much more on
  269. Lizzie, but for now, as we saw yesterday we are getting a very, very heavy
  270. dose of Lucky's reaction to this.

  272. As for whether or not Tony was involved... aside from the fact that I don't
  273. think they've bottomed Tony out to the point of doing that, I don't
  274. honestly think the show would be willing to risk Brad Maule that way.
  275.  
  276. And I think there is a trend to consider, too:  historically on soaps, when
  277. one main character rapes another main character it's a matter of date rape,
  278. or at the very least aquaintance rape.  It almost ALWAYS boils down to a
  279. matter of he said/she said (Marty's rape on OLtL is about the only
  280. exception to that I can think of; but Todd did not become a main character
  281. until after that).  Certainly not "better" in any way, but most DEFINITELY
  282. not the same thing as grabbing a teenager off a park bench, dragging her
  283. into the bushes, beating the crap out of her, raping her and then leaving
  284. her there to fend for herself, half dressed, in the freezing snow.

  312. Just caught part of a GH promo-- there's a scene with Luke saying to Bobby
  313. something like "If you want me to explain to Lucky what happened between
  314. me and his mother a million years ago, you're insane!"  Geary looks
  315. reeeeeally scary when he says this.

  317. They're definitely doing this to lure back Genie.  Not a doubt in my mind.
  318. There were a dozen other storylines they could have done very easily to
  319. involve Lucky with Lizzie-- this one was SPECIFICALLY chosen.

  365. well, yeah, it's boring...but they do it all the time.  for example: who 
  366. killed dorman?  monica?  emily?  ned?  jason?  uh-uh.  tin man.  WHO?

  368. or, did you watch 90210 back in the early days?  all the commercials for 
  369. the "very special episode" where "one of the gang is going to die"?  who 
  370. was it?  random guy--david's little friend.

  372. all these shows do that, because they don't want to either kill off a 
  373. very popular character (unless contract negotiations force them to), or 
  374. make a popular character do something so heinous that the audience would 
  375. never forgive it.  yes, tony's gone off the deep end.  but considering 
  376. the large percentage of the audience (i'm guessing here) who still can't 
  377. get the image of a bereft tony bending down over maxie to listen to bj's 
  378. heart inside her cousin's chest...i REALLY don't believe they'd have him 
  379. rape a teenager.  lorraine, maybe--she's older, and she's kind of 
  380. unsympathetic, so it wouldn't be SO horrible (yes, a rape is still 
  381. horrible regardless...but you know what i mean, right?).  or do 
  382. something evil to carly--who could blame him?  but no amount of dementia 
  383. could explain away doing what that attacker did to lizzie, who's only 
  384. slightly older than bj would have been had she lived.  i don't buy it.  
  385. i can see them accusing him, because he HAS gone off the deep end--and 
  386. the new look will probably figure into it once lizzie describes her 
  387. attacker.  but i REALLY don't think it will end up being him--even if it 
  388. WOULD be more interesting that way.

  405. i got home last night, rewound my tape, pressed play, and here's what i 
  406. got:  the opening scene of pc, the credits, then lucy and kevin go to 
  407. the hospital and run into joe.  joe asks what the problem is, lucy says 
  408. "rex claimed he's poisoned me"  THEN...literally, RIGHT then...bum, bum, 
  409. bummmm....abc news special bulletin logo appears across the screen, 
  410. followed by "crisis in iraq" (must have been easier to just subsitute 
  411. "iraq" from the past few weeks' graphic of "crisis in the white house" 
  412. than to come up with a whole new phrase...)  then clinton appears, and 
  413. continues to speak for the next half hour, so that's ALL i saw of port 
  414. charles yesterday.

  416. so...anybody out there who's NOT in the nyc area get the whole show and 
  417. care to enlighten us east-coast folks as to what we missed?  (thankfully 
  418. he didn't talk long enough to pre-empt gh too!)  any info would be MUCH

  443. Several good things, though my biases undoubtedly show. <g>
  444.  
  445. First of all is, the wrap-up of the Rex nightmare:  K&L are at the hospital
  446. so Lucy can get tests.  She decided not to tell Scott anything, because she
  447. didn't want to ruin his reunion with Serena.  The judge overturned Scott's
  448. conviction based on Conklin's testimony and Rex's videotaped confession.
  449. He also arranged for custody of Serena to be returned to Scott.  And
  450. Conkilin kept quiet about Scott's escape.  (And, like Julie said yesterday,
  451. despite the fact that this whole thing wrapped up unrealistically fast, I
  452. am so grateful that I won't gripe about it.)
  453.  
  454. Scott and Serena went home to the firehouse to find Karen and Eve there
  455. with a celebration.  Karen later spotted Eve and Scott kissing.  She and
  456. Eve had a talk about Eve's relationship with Scott.  Eve told Karen that if
  457. she had a problem with it to please tell her.  Karen swore she was cool and
  458. she was happy for both of them.
  459.  
  460. Audrey commented to K&L that she was happy that they nabbed Rex and she was
  461. especially delighted that they hadn't really broken up after all.  She did
  462. ask, however, why they were there and Lucy felt guilty for CONTINUING to
  463. lie to people.  Kevin assured her that they were entitled to their privacy
  464. - -- adn that she had EARNED the right not to discuss Rex.  Besides, they
  465. didn't know if it was even true yet or not, so there was no point in
  466. worrying people unnecessarily.
  467.  
  468. Joe ran blood tests for Lucy, while Julie and Chris gossiped about
  469. them/her.  Joe overheard and went ballistic about how Lucy was a hero for
  470. saving Serena.  Chris commented on her recent "behavior" and Joe pounded
  471. him, saying that it was an act for Rex's benefit.  Chris counter with "how
  472. was I supposed to know that"?  ("What the hell business is it of yours to
  473. pass judgement in the first place" is my question...)  Julie and Chris both
  474. questioned Joe about his mood.
  475.  
  476. He was upset because he had to give Lucy the bad news:  there is something
  477. in her system, though he can't yet isolate what it is.  Her white blood
  478. cell count it up and she's got a stomach ache, but so far that's about it.
  479.  
  480. Garcia called Scott at the firehouse and told him about Lucy.  He barreled
  481. over there, just before Joe gave them the news.  Scott told Joe that he
  482. didn't care what it cost, but he wanted everyone in the hospital working on
  483. Lucy's case if that's what it took.  The ep ended with Kevin leaving and
  484. Lucy asking him where he was going.  He answered: "I'm going to find out
  485. what Rex did to you if I have to beat it out of him."  
  486.  
  487. And he was so calm Rex would worry about his own safety if he wasn't such
  488. an egomaniac.
  489.  
  490. The other part of the ep was Ellen and Matt.  Some of the interns chriped
  491. around Matt about how he landed in the hospital, yadda, yadda, yadda.  And
  492. they all bought his sotry about the exploding can of terpentine.  Ellen,
  493. however, got ahold of his x-ray and discovered that there are bullet
  494. fragments still lodged in his spine.  She confronted him and he admitted,
  495. reluctantly, that he didn't injure his back in a skiing accident, after all.
  496.  
  497. She continued to pres shim about why he refused to go to the hospital.  He
  498. said because he didn't want anyone tracing him back to GH.  She said that
  499. didn't make any sense, because if someone was looking fo rhim they wouldn't
  500. have a hard time finding him, because the name "Matt Harmon" had been in
  501. the computers for months. 
  502.  
  503. He said he was glad to hear that because "Matt Harmon" was not his real name.
  504.  
  505. I think that was about it...
  506.

  520. Well, though it could not possibly compare to Monday, watching Lucky
  521. struggle with Lizzie's decision was very good.  I especially loved that
  522. Bobbie pointed out that Lizzie's decision wasn't "wrong" and that it was
  523. her's to make.

  525. And watching Lucky's face while Audrey was going on about how happy Lizzie
  526. was about the dance etc. was painful.  And though I certainly don't think
  527. Lucky should be blamed for what happened to Lizzie, I do want him to feel
  528. guilty for dumping her in favor of Sarah like a big jerk.
  529.  
  530. I especially loved, though, that he is determined to live up to what Lizzie
  531. and Audrey both think of him.

  628. off celebrating.  And Lucy said that she was just having some routine tests

  631. was mostly design to show how sick and tired of this whole thing she is.

  870. her which I took to be a little denial on Lucy's part (the more people
  871. she had to tell the truer it became). But I also like Taiyin's theory 
  872. that this is how the writers show us that Lucy is tired of the lies.

  874. I thought Kevin's remark that it wasn't anybody's business and Lucy had
  875. every right to lie was an interesting character defining moment.  This
  876. is the usually truthful Kevin's philosophy--that if it is your personal
  877. pain you don't have any obligation to confide in people who care about
  878. you.  This is were he is always dishonest and the writers have been 
  879. consistent.  Reading Rika's transcripts makes me wonder how much 
  880. progress Kevin has really made.  Oh, sure, he has opened up and 
  881. shared things with Lucy and Mac but Tuesday's line makes me wonder
  882. how much he really understands why this is necessary.
