  66.  
  67. Through various disguises and careful planning, Kevin manages to spend a few
  68. precious Christmas moments with Lucy. It is difficult for both of them to
  69. keep up the pretense of their break up to the outside world, so they
  70. treasure these brief encounters together.
  71.  
  72. Dominique's loving spirit will take leave of Scott and Serena, but not until
  73. Dominique has shown Scott that he needs to make some changes in his life for
  74. his future. Scott decides to host a New Year's Eve party, in which Eve will
  75. be a dominant guest.
  76.  
  77. Karen and Joe take a drive to the woods to spend a romantic night in a
  78. secluded cabin.
  79.  
  80. The clock strikes midnight on New Year's Eve. We see Ellen, Matt, Grace and
  81. Jake, but "who is kissing whom?"
  82.  
  83. Lucy's scheme runs her into trouble, as she tries to maintain Rex's trust.
  84. Kevin makes an attempt to see Lucy and almost gets caught. Scott steps up
  85. his part in the scheme to help Lucy with a suspicious Rex. Scott and Lucy
  86. stage a fight just for Rex's benefit. However, when Lucy turns down a
  87. Christmas invitation from Rex, his suspicions are heightened again. Lucy
  88. realizes that she must take things one step farther. She uses her staged
  89. fight with Scott as her reasoning and tells Rex that she is going to try and
  90. get custody of Serena. Although not completely trusting of Lucy, Rex is
  91. curious and intrigued by Lucy's announcement. It seems they both will be
  92. after the same thing. However, this means that Lucy must cut herself
  93. completely off from Serena for the plan to work. This will be very painful
  94. for her.

  96. Winston, Ellen's estranged brother, comes to Port Charles and lets it be
  97. known that he does not care for his sister. While arguing with Winston, Matt
  98. overhears Ellen say that she is no longer with her husband! Hey, what
  99. husband? Matt is taken back and his curiosity is more than he can handle.
  100. Alice, Ellen's mother, lets Ellen know that she prefers Winston and will be
  101. spending the holidays with her son, not her daughter.

  170. One Is Lucky, The Other Is Not

  172. Nikolas is going to feel closer and depend on Stefan more and more. Stefan's
  173. genuine concern for Nikolas hasn't gone unnoticed by the young heir.
  174.  
  175. Lucky is confused over his feelings for his brother, Nikolas. He is uneasy
  176. with the conflicting feelings of hate, caring, and love. He always thought
  177. he wanted Nikolas dead. At the very least, he wanted him to disappear, to
  178. not exist. The thought that Lucky actually helped saved Nikolas' life
  179. bothers him a great deal. What does this mean? He knows he certainly doesn't
  180. love his brother, so why did he care if Nikolas died? Lucky goes to Luke
  181. with his questions and his confusing feelings, and they try to sort out what
  182. happened and how they feel towards Nikolas together. They decide there is a
  183. difference between wanting someone dead and actually watching them die. This
  184. is all Lucky can accept at the moment--that he could not stand by and watch
  185. Nikolas die.
  186.  
  187. Nikolas will ask to see Lucky. Nikolas has questions concerning Laura's
  188. knowledge of his accident. When Nikolas can't write everything down and the
  189. conversation is heating up on Lucky's end, Nikolas tries to speak. His words
  190. come out all mixed up. Lucky realizes that something is wrong and rushes to
  191. get help. As Lucky is running out of the ICU, he bumps into Stefan. When
  192. Stefan hears what is wrong with Nikolas, he immediately blames Lucky.
  193.  
  194. Tony takes over the case and Nikolas is given a CAT scan and an MRI. After
  195. reviewing the results, Tony does not have good news. Nikolas and his family
  196. are told that Nikolas has had a stroke, and his speech is impaired as a
  197. result. This news causes Nikolas to sink into a deep depression and he even
  198. refuses to see Sarah.

  202. Bountiful Burton
  203.  
  204. It's all about Jason for the next week, as Steve Burton gets to sink his
  205. teeth into many of the storylines on the canvas.  He's not only running the
  206. "business" Sonny left him, but he's also assuming the responsibility of
  207. Carly and her baby.  Jason and AJ go at it tooth and nail about Carly's
  208. baby.  Jason is also involved with the Cassadines as he offers to cover all
  209. of Nikolas' expenses due to the shooting.... this serves only to enrage
  210. Stefan further. Jason also pops in on Brenda and leaves confused and
  211. befuddled by the smack on the lips she gives him-- and this time it isn't a
  212. punch in the mouth!

  216.  Under The Mistletoe
  217.  
  218. Brenda continues to sink deeper into her depression over Sonny's
  219. disappearance, and Jax becomes desperate to help her. The outlook for Brenda
  220. seems to be one of a continued hospital environment. Jax ignores the advice
  221. of the doctors at General Hospital, including Alan, and brings in a
  222. specialist to snap Brenda out of her disorientation. Jax is disheartened
  223. when the specialist does not give him the words he wants to hear. Jax simply
  224. cannot see that Brenda will get any better in a cold, confined hospital
  225. room. As the Christmas holiday approaches, Jax is determined to get Brenda
  226. home. He is convinced that what she really needs is to be surrounded by love
  227. in the warmth of her own home. Jax does manage to get Brenda home for
  228. Christmas.
  229.  
  230. While Brenda is waiting at home, and Jax has stepped out for just a bit,
  231. Jason shows up to check on Brenda's condition. Brenda becomes agitated, and
  232. her behavior surprises Jason. Brenda points at him and talks about him
  233. taking over Sonny's job. Then Brenda shocks Jason by telling him since he
  234. has "literally" taken Sonny's place then he must take everything of Sonny's
  235. and there is one more thing he is lacking. Brenda walks up to Jason and lays
  236. a very passionate kiss on his lips leaving him quite startled.

  240. She's Bad To The Bone
  241.  
  242. Before even appearing on the show, SOW met with Constance Towers (Helena)
  243. for an interview, and they were given a look-see into what lies ahead.
  244. According to Ms. Towers, Helena wants control of Nikolas so she ''asks'' for
  245. Alexis' help. Meanwhile, Luke tells Alexis that together they could bring
  246. Helena down. Helena befriends Katherine but warns her not to tell Stefan.
  247. All this and there's the upcoming ''reunion'' between Helena and Stefan.
  248.  
  249. She also mentions that Helena and Luke cross paths with Helena using her
  250. secret weapon ... Laura. When Helena mentions Laura, Luke tells her not to
  251. threaten him. ''But,'' Helena replies, ''I've already sent her a bouquet of
  252. flowers.''
  253.  
  254. Ms. Towers says that all of this will get more complicated when Laura
  255. returns. Ms. Towers says it is her understanding that Genie will indeed be
  256. returning.
  257.  
  258. The three sides of the Helena, Stefan, Luke triangle will be even further
  259. driven apart by Laura.

  264. Chestnuts Ain't What's
  265. Roasting By This Fire
  266.  
  267. Look for the revelation of Bobbie and Carly's real relationship to explode
  268. in 1998. When Bobbie informs Carly that Carly told her something in the
  269. emergency room, Carly panics that she may have let the cat out of the bag:
  270. Did Bobbie help Carly because she now knows she's her daughter? At the same
  271. time, both Tony and AJ are anxious to learn who is the father of Carly's
  272. baby, but improper reading of the blood results leads to misinterpretation.
  273. Carly is forced to make a drastic decision.

  277. 1997:  The Year In Review
  278.  
  279.      Lesley Webber "came back to life", and Laura Spencer "died."
  280.      It was "love at first shot" for Stefan and Katherine.
  281.      The mistress of the manor got ousted, when Bobbie "betrayed" Stefan.
  282.      Touch Not The Kat ... she's your sister!!!
  283.      "If anyone here can find just cause ..." Sonny did, and her name was
  284. Miranda.
  285.      This Tin Man had no heart, and Rivera wanted to drop a house on Sonny &
  286. Brenda.
  287.      Bobbie lost a husband, gained a husband, lost a husband, "lost a
  288. daughter" and is about to become a grandmother (no, I'm not on drugs!)
  289.      Always a bridesmaid and never a bride, as Brenda is left standing at
  290. the altar ... alone.
  291.      Dorman paid the ultimate price for all his crimes.
  292.      Jason learned that you can't have it both ways, when Robin left for
  293. Paris without him.
  294.      Liz was smitten with Lucky who was smitten with Sarah who was smitten
  295. with Nikolas.

  299. 1998 Previews
  300.  
  301.      Helena's presence in Port Charles will have a deep lasting change on
  302. the Cassadine family. Helena will befriend Katherine, but she will give
  303. Katherine a warning that she is not to let Stefan know of their friendship.
  304. Can Katherine stay quiet? Nope, and she may be headed for trouble for going
  305. against the vindictive matriarch's orders. After all, when is Helena
  306. forgiving of anything?
  307.  
  308.      Carly will give birth to a baby boy. The ordeal of what she goes
  309. through and the magnitude of the past year will suddenly hit her with a
  310. severe postpartum depression. She cannot deal with how her life is turned
  311. upside down and splits town for awhile leaving Jason to care for her son.
  312.  
  313.      Luke worries about Bobbie finding out Carly's true identity. He
  314. considers telling his sister the truth, but just doesn't think Bobbie will
  315. be too understanding of him taking matters into his hands and playing with
  316. her life. The fact that he has known all this time may not be forgivable.
  317.  
  318.      Brenda sinks deeper and deeper into her depression and becomes
  319. dangerous to herself and to others. Jax is at loss on how to help her now.

  321.      Mac's light bulb goes off in his brain as he finally figures out why he
  322. was kidnapped. He starts to play the game with Tess. He can lie just as well
  323. as the next guy!

  399.   Highlights Of The Coming Week
  400.  
  401. Alan Q reads the Christmas story in the annual holiday tradition. When he is
  402. through, he takes the opportunity to remind everyone of the spirit of
  403. forgiveness and generosity, but his advice falls on some deaf ears. <Note:
  404. There was lots of ad-libbing during the scenes between Alan and Tony. The
  405. actors had great fun playing off each other's ideas. The audience during
  406. these scenes included Lynn Herring and Wayne Northrop who were on hand to
  407. snap pictures of their sons who played extras.>
  408.  
  409. Carly and Jason have a moment alone in the nurses lab and things are tense,
  410. but Dave Koz performs some beautiful music to soothe the souls of all
  411. around.
  412.  
  413. Tony even joins the fun by playing Santa. He's feeling miserable inside, but
  414. putting on a jolly old elf face for the kids in the hospital. It helps him
  415. to get outside of his own problems, by sharing with others.
  416.  
  417. Elsewhere, Nikolas struggles with trying to speak, Stefan is laying the
  418. blame for the stroke on Lucky.
  419.  
  420. Jax demands that he get Brenda home for Christmas. After he accomplishes
  421. this feat, Jax leaves her alone while he goes to the airport to pick up
  422. Julia. While he is gone, Jason pays Brenda a surprise visit. Since Jason has
  423. taken over Sonny's life, Brenda proceeds to try to give Jason the other side
  424. of it -- Sonny's personal life -- sex and all.

  428. The Week In Detail
  429.  
  430.    Following the shooting, Nikolas suffers from a stroke. Lucky realizes
  431. there is something wrong with Nikolas' speech and rushes for the doctor. He
  432. bumps into Stefan who blames Lucky for causing Nikolas' condition. The
  433. prognosis is not good. Nikolas cannot communicate clearly and sinks into a
  434. deep depression. He cannot go home and stays in intensive care. When Sarah
  435. brings Nikolas a gift, he refuses to see her, and she leaves the hospital
  436. heartbroken.
  437.  
  438.    AJ confronts Jason directly about his relationship with Carly. He will
  439. ask Jason, did you sleep with her? Did you have sex with Carly? Jason's
  440. answer will be yes! Carly will answer the question of when for AJ. AJ will
  441. leave feeling confused but assuming that Jason is the father of Carly's
  442. baby. Since AJ has always had a inferiority complex toward Jason, his old
  443. insecurities resurface.
  444.  
  445.    Julia is shocked when she visits Brenda and sees her deteriorating
  446. condition. She is the only one who realizes how bad Brenda really is, as
  447. well as the only who who can legally commit Brenda. Julia feels that Brenda
  448. needs to remain hospitalized to get the medical care she needs. On the other
  449. hand, Jax, does not want Brenda committed and has made complicated matters
  450. by promising Brenda she will be home for Christmas.
  451.  
  452.    Jason decides to try and fix the Cassadine situation by putting up the
  453. cash to cover Nik's medical expenses.  This only serves to fuel Stefan's
  454. anger toward Jason.
  455.  
  456.    Carly's constant stress from lying, and lying and trying to think up new
  457. lies finally takes a physical toll on her and her baby. Carly begins to
  458. bleed -- alot -- and wakes up in a pool of her own blood, but quickly loses
  459. consciousness.
  460.  
  461.    Stefan gives Katherine an invitation to spend Christmas with him at
  462. Wyndemere.
  463.  
  464.    Helena's sole purpose to gain back control of the family dynasty by using
  465. Nikolas. However, Helena will need Alexis' help and therefore decides to
  466. spare Alexis' life. Alexis feel trapped and does not feel safe. When Luke
  467. makes her an offer to join him, Alexis doesn't see any other way out. Luke
  468. has plans to help Alexis gain control of the Cassadine empire for herself as
  469. Mikkos' heir. Helena will befriend Katherine, but she will ask Katherine to
  470. keep it a secret from Stefan.

  475.  
  476. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
  477.  
  478. On Monday, Alexis is unable to speak when she sees Helena. Helena knows that
  479. Alexis is Natasha and realizes that Alexis has discovered the truth. Helena
  480. has not come to Port Charles to kill Alexis, because she feels that Alexis
  481. will be of some use. Helena's goal is to take over the family. However,
  482. Alexis is not feeling very secure in her safety. Therefore when Luke makes a
  483. suggestion for Alexis to join forces with him so that she can take charge of
  484. the family herself, and this offer requires some consideration. When a
  485. charming Luke has words with Helena, it ignites that old spark between the
  486. rivals, and Helena will mention Laura. When Luke warns her not to threaten
  487. him, Helena will say that she has already sent Laura flowers. --- Jason
  488. tells AJ that he did sleep with Carly and that includes sex. AJ goes away
  489. thinking that Jason is the father of Carly's baby and holds off on the
  490. paternity suit.
  491.  
  492. On Tuesday, while trying to thank Lucky, Nikolas' speech becomes affected.
  493. He undergoes neurological tests. Then, he is given the bad news that he has
  494. had a stroke. --- Brenda is not improving, and Jax has a specialist brought
  495. in to see her. Julia sees how disoriented Brenda is and feels Brenda needs
  496. to remain hospitalized for a longer period of time.
  497.  
  498. On Wednesday, Jax will move heaven and earth to get Brenda home to her
  499. cottage for Christmas. --- Scott and Serena crossover to General Hospital
  500. for the annual holiday party. Tony will be Santa Claus, and Alan continues
  501. Steve Hardy's tradition of reading the story of Christmas. Dave Koz shares
  502. his memorable version of Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. --- Stefan
  503. extends an invitation to Katherine to spend Christmas with him at
  504. Wyndemere. --- Nikolas will reject seeing Sarah.

  573. That's the way Luke always is though.  There is one set of rules for him and
  574. another for the rest of the world.  For instance, when he found out that
  575. Justus was the one who killed Damian, after putting Laura through the trial
  576. Luke ended the friendship.  Period.  As if he wouldn't have done the EXACT
  577. same thing, and Laura would not have gone to jail anyhow, since Justus would
  578. have come forward if he'd had to in the end.

  580. That's just one of the things that bugs me about him.  He's a pretty poor
  581. parent too.  Lucky is turning from the sweet child he once was into a little
  582. punk.

  610. Luke ended the friendship.  Period.  As if he wouldn't have done the EXACT
  611. same thing, and Laura would not have gone to jail anyhow, since Justus would
  612. have come forward if he'd had to in the end.

  614. That's just one of the things that bugs me about him.  He's a pretty poor
  615. parent too.  Lucky is turning from the sweet child he once was into a little
  616. punk.

  634. ObGH/PC:  Am I the only one who spent most of last week muttering either
  635. "Shut up, Stefan," or "Shut up, Jax"? <sigh>  Bleah.  Although, I did LOVE
  636. the face off between Jason and Stefan.  I agree with Bobbie, I would LOVE
  637. to see Stefan take on Jason.  I don't necessarily think Jason could win,
  638. but I think he would CERTAINLY give Stefan more of a run for his money than
  639. he'd expect -- when Stefan looks at Jason all he sees is a punk in a black
  640. leather motorcycle jacket.  He'd be in for a rude awakening.  I also loved
  641. the scenes with Lucy and Nikolas, as Nikolas was having his stroke.  I
  642. think my favorite of all of GH last week, though, was Alan telling Jax that
  643. he was no better than Sonny.  FINALLY!

  645. As for PC... am I the only one who sees Eve and Chris and is reminded of
  646. early Scott and Lucy?  I loved Scott and Lucy (in the pre-Doc days), and so
  647. I'm enjoying the hell out of the two of them.  I'm really glad they are
  648. involving Eve in so many storylines, because she is so much fun to watch in
  649. so many circumstances.  I do adore her with Scott, but with Chris she
  650. really, really reminds me of an old Lucy.  Maybe that's why Lucy has such
  651. an aversion to her. ;-)

  761. Well, I mean, since the audience knows that Dom is really there, we would
  762. definitely be led to believe that Dom was in charge of that dream.  As it
  763. is, I'm sure Scott is just feeling a little freaked and slightly paranoid.
  764. He's not like Lucy -- he's not going to find a reassurance and comfort in
  765. the thought of Dom *really* being there, because (at least so far) he
  766. doesn't actually really *believe* she is there.  He just knows that he had
  767. a dream that not only predicted what he fears most, but that he's also
  768. going to be disappointing the love of his life.

  800. that maybe Dom sees Eve as Scotty's great love (after herself, of course), and
  801. that he might lose her if he doesn't try harder.  It seemed to fit, especially

  894. to that effect Friday). What you said about Eve and the Scanlon brothers
  895. she has chemistry with them as well.  I could even see a Frank and Eve
  896. pairing.  I love her scences with Ben, Serena, Rex, etc.  If PC would
  897. develop everyones character as much as they have developed hers the show
  898. would be much more watchable.  Other than Eve many of the new characters
  899. are isolated in their own groups of people and most of them are
  900. one-dimensional.  Lucy and Doc just don't belong with these people in my
  901. opinion and I wish they would go back to GH with Scotty visiting the show
  902. often.  I miss Mac and Kevin.

  1008. independence and wouldn't let her father influence her career at all.

  1024. Well, in the case of Rex, I would certainly agree.  Julie, too, for the
  1025. most part.  And Jake -- though I think Danielle's death has gone a long way
  1026. toward improving him.  I wouldn't agree, though, when it comes to Matt,
  1027. Chris, Karen or either one of the Scanlon brothers, really.  And the
  1028. storyline they are starting right now with Ellen should go a LONG way
  1029. towards developing her character more.

  1031. But, actually, if you look at it, about half the cast of PC started out on
  1032. GH.  Kevin, Lucy and Scott (and Karen) are just the ones who are front and
  1033. center on PC the most.  I think the primary objection I have to the GH/PC
  1034. transfer of characters is the handling of Mike -- they TOTALLY neglect him.

  1040. Well, I disagree with that -- if for no other reason than because (a) I
  1041. think that the way Lynn Latham writes Kevin and Lucy is just magnificent
  1042. and I remember all too well how badly Guza does the two of them.  And (b)
  1043. because when Kevin and Lucy were on GH they spent YEARS (literally)
  1044. straddling the back-burner.  I'd rather have them on almost every day, with
  1045. great dialogue and snappy raprte, but seperated from much of their old
  1046. context, than back on GH, showing up once or twice a week as window
  1047. dressing for the ongoing Spencer/Cassasinde, soon-to-include
  1048. Quartermaine/Morgan war.

  1051. REALLY miss, though, is Luke and Lucy.  And I do whine about that every so

  1111. Hi everybody. I am back from my new York vacation, and I have a lot to say
  1112. about Tony. God I hate Tony!!! The presumptuousness of that man. He accepts
  1113. the fact that Carly has had an affair. He logically knows that the time he
  1114. thinks Carly and Jason slept together could have resulted in her pregnancy.
  1115. However he calls the baby his son. That man is in denial about a few things.
  1116. Also, today he had no concern for Carly's welfare. This is a woman that he
  1117. was planning to marry an is the mother of what may be his child. He actually
  1118. said that he didn't care about Carly, and Jason could do whatever he wanted
  1119. with her. I know that isn't verbatim, but oh well that was the main gist of
  1120. it. I don't know if Bobbie told him of the gravity of Carly's situation on
  1121. the phone.However he should know that a woman that delivers a month early
  1122. might possibly have some kind of medical problems. There wasn't even a
  1123. "What's her condition like". I don't want him to fall back in love with her.
  1124. That is most definitely not what I am saying, but even I would wonder about
  1125. the condition of my worst enemy if he or she was injured.

  1127.     I have to say Bravo to Bobbie. I loved her pleading with Jason over
  1128. Carly's surgery. I can't believe that Carly is basically leading the same
  1129. life that Bobbie did: mothering a child and not being sure who the father
  1130. is, having something wrong with your uterus that could ultimately lead to
  1131. the loss of it. I also loved that Jason said that he would tell Carly that
  1132. it was Bobbie that convinced him about what to do. I have a question. Does
  1133. Jason have power of attorney over both Carly and the baby  or just over
  1134. Carly? Carly said that the lawyer never asked if Jason was the real father.
  1135. Can someone have power of attorney over a child whose paternity has not yet
  1136. been decided? I know that tomorrow Jason says"Nothing will be done to that
  1137. boy unless I say so". I am so glad that Guza is back. Have I said that
  1138. already? I am so glad that General Hospital is getting good again. I don't
  1139. know if you all noticed, but it was getting boring there for awhile.
