  61. ok, so i was sort of half-watching the miss america pageant on sat. 
  62. (watching while reading, actually).  during one of the commercial breaks i 
  63. looked up when all of a sudden the volume disappeared, and i saw the tail-
  64. end of an announcement on the screen that LOOKED (in the fleeting glimpse i 
  65. got) to be an announcement that the rodgers & hammerstein version of 
  66. "cinderella" would be on that channel sometime in the near future.  (didn't 
  67. get to see enough of the commercial to be sure.)  now, i seem to remember a 
  68. discussion back during the nurses ball on pc online that stuart damon 
  69. (alan) had starred as the prince in that version of cinderella, and i've 
  70. never seen it.  i was wondering if anyone else watching the pageant saw 
  71. that announcement, or did i imagine (or mis-read) it?
  72.  
  73. i was watching it at my parents' house, and they have one of those 
  74. satellite dishes, which means i was watching the abc affiliate based in (i 
  75. believe) washington d.c., even though i'm in new jersey.  (i don't know if 
  76. that's relevant or not--sometimes the satellite dish only gets local 
  77. commercials rather than national, so i'm not sure.)

  79. if anybody else saw the same thing, and caught the whole commercial, could 
  80. you let me know when the movie's going to be on, and if it's going to be on 
  81. abc nationally or just the affiliate i was watching?  i'd appreciate it!

  119. oh my oh my oh MY.

  121. that's about all i can say!  last night i finally got to watch friday's and 
  122. yesterday's episodes of both pc and gh...and i was just really confused.
  123.  
  124. why, you ask?  well, let's start with two facts i had always considered a 
  125. given:  one, i LOVE sonny and brenda!  always have, from day one.  loved 
  126. their passion, their intensity, their chemistry...god, the looks they used 
  127. to give each other (particular sonny to brenda--lord, those EYES!) just 
  128. made me MELT.  two, i was very ANGRY at pc for the mess they made of karen 
  129. and jagger, sacrificing a character i used to LOVE on gh for the sake of 
  130. this artifical "karen and joe" thing.  i don't care WHAT they say...jagger 
  131. would NOT cheat on karen.  period.
  132.  
  133. so...you can imagine my surprise when i watched the past two episodes of 
  134. both shows, and found my entire world turned upside down!  i'm sitting 
  135. there minding my own business, and out of the blue there comes this INTENSE 
  136. kiss between karen and joe--and all of a sudden i'm feeling the chemistry i 
  137. refused to accept the existence of, right down to my very toes.  then i 
  138. watch gh, with sonny and brenda's supposed last night as single people, and 
  139. their last night in their home town to boot, and i feel NOTHING.  nothing 
  140. at all, except an exasperated "when is this nonsense going to be OVER" type 
  141. feeling.  (i don't know why.  s&b have been missing their old magic for 
  142. quite a while, since the reunion actually, but lately, in view of brenda's 
  143. stepford wife behavior, it's gotten UNBELIEVABLY painful to watch.)
  144.  
  145. to be quite honest, i'm not used to being surprised by soap operas--the 
  146. last time i was honest-to-god shocked by something that happened on a soap 
  147. was probably when robin was made hiv+, and before that, when bj was killed. 
  148. so when one of them manages to do something that DOES catch me off guard, 
  149. i'm even more thrilled.  so i guess i'll have to admit it--that set of 
  150. scenes between karen and joe made me a convert.  (jagger WHO???  and i'd 
  151. like to KILL that nurse that called karen!)  but while we're on the 
  152. subject, any idea who's at the door?  i have two guesses.  one--jagger.  
  153. (which i consider fairly unlikely)  or two--a cop supervisor sent to inform 
  154. karen jagger's been killed in the line of duty.  three guesses which 
  155. scenario i'd now prefer!  :)
  156.  
  157. as for sonny and brenda...i think they're beyond hope.  which i should be 
  158. thankful for--it'll make maurice's departure easier to bear.  because if i 
  159. had to watch many more of these "yes dear" scenes from brenda, i think i'd 
  160. lose it completely.  at this point, i'm just hoping for a good, dramatic, 
  161. emotional set of scenes surrounding sonny's departure, and some sort of 
  162. closure that allows brenda to return to some semblance of a rational human 
  163. being.  because this puppy dog routine just isn't cutting it for me.

  165. that's about it for now.  except i REALLY hope we see more karen and joe 
  166. very VERY soon!!!  wow.  just WOW!  :)

  230. more charming everyday. If GH ever decides to drop her, I think Lisa 
  231. Cerasoli could have a fabulous sitcom career.

  240. don't forget, she's made it clear she will not return unless she has an
  241. extraordinary story for Laura (which Guza can certainly deliver).

  256. fight about who were the best couple of all time.  (somebody asked logan to 
  257. pick his three faves, of which luke and laura were one, and the rest were 
  258. unrelated, and then people just started saying, "but what about...")

  260. just thought i'd share, especially since the rena sofer update made me very 
  261. happy!  (that, and the line about wendy not listening to her fans, which 
  262. just made me laugh!)  it is a dilemma, since i'm kinda starting to like ned 
  263. and alexis...but LOIS!  i'd DEFINITELY love to have her back, no matter HOW 
  264. messy it would make things for n&a!

  279. shocked the hell out of me).

  286. No kidding.  Yuck.  Where is the Brenda who used to get in Sonny's face
  287. until he would tell her what was going on?  Who would back him in a corner
  288. until he either (a) told her the truth or (b) lied to her?  The Brenda who,
  289. after she first found out about everything, was furious at him only for
  290. LYING to her?  Pod Person Brenda is painful to watch.

  292. As for Karen and Joe -- I liked them all right before.  But that scene --
  293. YEOUCH!  That one blew my mind.  I suddenly like them much better now.

  312. doesn't take anti-soap snobish crap from other people.

  328. This is one of the reasons I am most looking forward to Guza's return.  I
  329. may not like a lot of other stuff he does, but he sure does make Stefan a
  330. cool character to watch.  Much more so than he has been lately.

  336. I agree with that.  I thought the recast was a little odd, but I was
  337. willing to give it a chance.  And considering all the bashing the internet
  338. was taking over the Susan Batten situation on ATWT, I was really afraid of
  339. a repeat performance with the recasting of AJ.

  346. Brenda, but I am LOVING V.  And I really loved Monday when we found out her
  347. first name.  Those scenes were really sweet.

  392. i'm the first to admit--i was definitely anti-billy warlock when he first 
  393. started.  i was (and remain) of the opinion that if they're going to 
  394. attempt a recast, they should at least TRY to make it physically 
  395. consistent, especially if the recast is taking over the very next day.  
  396. (like the new karen and the old karen.  it's been so long, quite frankly, 
  397. that i can't entirely remember--but it seems to me that the new karen bears 
  398. at least a PASSING resemblance to the old one.  at least the same coloring 
  399. and stature and whatnot.  and if not, at least there was time off in 
  400. between--not going from light to dark and losing six inches of height 
  401. overnight.)  that said...he's definitely growing on me.  (then again, most 
  402. recasts do...eventually.  i think i just hate change in general!)

  407. well...i DID watch during the j&b days, and i STILL love v!  (but maybe 
  408. that's not a fair comparison, since i was also an s&b fan!)  i'm 
  409. getting worried, however, that they're making her character a little wishy-
  410. washy (hmm...seems they have a tendency to do that with ALL of their female 
  411. characters...perhaps it's a conspiracy.  where's stefan?), especially with 
  412. all of her insecurity around jax, when she USED to be this authoritative-
  413. type person who never backed down.  (come on--she got sonny to put down the 
  414. gun he was holding on the tin man, for god's sake!)  however, with that 
  415. gripe aside, i have hope for her.  (after all, if i were in her situation, 
  416. alone with jax (in malibu, no less!), i think I'D be a little nervous too!)

  422. well, if it's the minority, count me in too!  i remember back when logan 
  423. first wrote about pc in his column, he raved about rex then too.  i STILL 
  424. don't get it.  i can't stand him, and i don't buy him as a villian.  he has 
  425. no depth whatsoever--he's like a comic book character.  on second thought, 
  426. some of THEM have more depth of character than rex does!  i suppose it's 
  427. probably one of those things that can largely be blamed on the 
  428. writers...but i'm with you--irritating at the very least!

  460. I was watching tuesdays (sept 16) show and popped out of bed at the end of
  461. the Lucy&Kevin love scene.  I would swear that Lynn (Lucy) was nude and
  462. that you could actually see her breast!  I know that Y&R experimented with
  463. nudity within the last year (yippee...paul and cricket's butts) but  I was
  464. shocked by the frontal nudity.  Did anyone else notice this?  and if so
  465. what do y'all think about it?  i'm not into that "let's shock 'em with
  466. some T&A to boost the ratings"

  480. It all evolved out of that delightful, "Blow it out your ear!"
  481.  
  482. And even though I agree that Ned and Alexis have (a) great chemistry and
  483. (b) more in common than  Ned EVER had with Lois, the fact remains that for
  484. me, Ned and Lois were a lot like Kevin and Lucy, in that this dynamic gave
  485. the long-time Port Charles resident the chance to evolve into what they
  486. wanted and break the mold that the rest of the world always tried to put
  487. them in.  And, for me, Ned was less pathetic then.  
  488.  
  489. These days he's seeming so desperate and sad and forlorn and generally
  490. pathetic that it gets really hard to watch sometimes.  I always loved Ned,
  491. since he first married Dawn (if I was older I'd worry about dating myself
  492. with that comment <g>), even when he was being a perfect jerk.  But
  493. lately... I dunno, that's one of my writing objections on GH lately:  the
  494. over-playing of the 'gate-keeper' thing.  It makes Ned this hapless martyr,
  495. which is NOT a role that suits him well or that I like him in at all.

  503. Methinks we are.  According to everything I've read, the over-whelming
  504. majority of fans and critics REALLY love Rex.

  620.     You have hit it the nail on the head with this.  It is, indeed, Rex's
  621. bullying that gets me.  That and the fact that he seems to be absolutely
  622. everywhere with his evil little smile.  Danielle was sick to get involved
  623. with him at all.  All of that drives me nuts.  I don't think Rex will ever
  624. have a downfall, however.  Some guys on soaps are just meant to go on and
  625. on and I think he is one of those.

  909. taste in clothes <shudder>, I was shocked to watch the wedding promos and
  910. actually rewind them *just* so I could take a closer look at that REALLY
  911. nice dress.  I love it.

  914. thinking pretty much the same thing (what Lucy was saying about brides

  989.     I watched today's GH live and then went over the tape to watch again to be
  990. sure my eyes hadn't deceived me.  Today, the Portland area GH show really
  991. left a cliff-hanger, the first real cliff-hanger I can remember in a long,
  992. long time.  The last I saw was Brenda turning around with a smile
  993. (slow-motion) after someone came through the church doors in the back
  994. (truly, the first time I ever really liked the portrayal of Brenda--my
  995. heart was breaking for her and I was nervous that Sonny was NOT going to
  996. show up).  After that, Jax's voice said to stay tuned for scenes from the
  997. Next GH.  That was it.  NOTHING.  No promos, nothing.  Not even the closing
  998. credits.  Whatever happened, they didn't give us a clue.

  1000.     I make it a rule not to watch soap weddings.  For some reason, I hate
  1001. them.  I always hate that they always end with the couple in some sort of
  1002. danger.  For some reason, though, I thought I would watch this wedding,
  1003. knowing that this one may be different for a lot of things (not that it
  1004. would be happy).  I actually LIKED the pre-wedding stuff.  Lucy was great,
  1005. looking terrific in that blue dress that I could never do justice to unless
  1006. I was well padded.  The look on her face when Brenda was at the altar was
  1007. priceless, as she expected the worst and looked like it.  Edward asking
  1008. Brenda not to go through with it.  Everything.  Their wasn't a single thing
  1009. about today's episode that I didn't care for, with the possible exception
  1010. of Lizzie, but not much spent on that.  Edward's look when he was asked if
  1011. he had an invitation and the looks on the guards face when he asked them if
  1012. they knew who he was, was also priceless!  My favorite GH wedding so far
  1013. (and I am glad that it was a cliff-hanger as I did enjoy the episode so
  1014. much).  Kevin was cute because he was worried about Lucy's premonitions.
