But isn't that exactly what Gerard did - he made a very valid observation about the way Sting's songwriting might develop...?

But he also said "Amazing, in less than a hundred days, we have major
environmental lapses and are almost entering another Cold War under W !"
That kind of talk belongs on another list.

Hey Heather, don't feel bad. I'm glad you posted that link, I enjoyed
reading the article.
I agree with you....it's easy to delete email. IMO, there's nothing wrong
with discussing politics here. Sting is political, and when you read his
opinions...from that article, for instance...it's natural to want to comment
on it.

This band has a lot of potential, but we know how much that means in today's
music industry. I guess Sting is pretty much letting him sink or swim? It
must be awfully tempting to use his clout....or maybe not. Do I remember
reading something he said about not leaving his kids a huge inheritance?
There's a spot sorta toward the end of "I'm So Tired" where I thought Joe
sounded just like his dad and other places, too, where I think....yes, that's
Sting's son. And other times, he has his own distinctive sound. Yeah, the
lyrics are somewhat unsophisticated but, overall, I think the song is pretty
good.
Hey, did anybody happen to read any of the posts on that message board? It's
funny...someone asked if everyone knew that Sting's son was in the band.
Boy, did they ever jump on him/her!!! lol They bristled at the idea that
that had anything to do with the band.
I wonder if there is a CD release coming anytime soon.

Just curious, how many folks on this list are also seeing U2?? Sounds like at least three of us. Can't tell you how excited I am. As an added note - fans on several U2 lists have been complaining about U2's identical set list every night. Just when the complaining was reaching a fever-pitch, the lads from Ireland threw out a couple of songs and threw in a couple of different ones (last night in Calgary, I think).
Also, Sting related - I just saw a very recent photo of Sting and he was wearing a Police/Ghost concert shirt - how cool is that!?!? OK, well, I think it's cool. Maybe it shows he's not completely disgusted by his previous life.

I would venture to say that the side seats are more expensive because you can
see so much better. I saw Genesis a few years back and thought I had great
floor seats, but unfortunately everyone stands (okay, that's not really
unfortunate, because I stand at Sting concerts, and stood at this concert,
too!), but the truth is that in a stadium, the floor seats are not angled up,
so you can't see a dang thing! So for this upcoming Sting concert that I
will be going to, I went for the side seats just off the floor. Much better!
Have a great time seeing U2, btw!

I just saw U2 Monday a week ago. I had seats on the side, low and even with
the stage. They were excellent...but $135! That's about what I paid for pit
seats to see Sting. I just don't understand why some artists charge such
high prices. U2 and Sting are my favorite musicians and I will always pay
the price....but that doesn't mean I can't bitch about it.
There are good and bad things about the floor tickets. The good: you can get
right up next to the outside of the heart or even try to get inside the
heart. Bono spent at least 75% of the time on the catwalk and interacted a
lot with the audience. At two different times, he pulled someone from the
crowd onto the stage with him. The bad: to get these good spots, you most
likely have to arrive VERY early and stand in line. I don't think you can
see the cool special effects and lights too well close up. If you're further
back, your view of the band is probably limited. And if you're old like me,
the idea of having a place to sit down when your legs and feet start aching
is a comforting thought. lol
BTW, the concert was excellent. They put on a hell of a show. I wasn't sure
what to expect after that incredibly silly PopMart Tour.
On a different note, I have a 12 yr old nephew who is now an avid Sting fan.
My sis said he has started bugging her to buy all the CD's. Several days
ago, he called me and said he couldn't figure out all the lyrics to Fortress
(he currently only has "Best of - FOG", no lyrics included). He asked, "Aunt
Teresa, what is he saying...'encircle you with - what - and barbed wire'?
Funny. I think it is really cool to have someone that young showing an
interest and appreciation for good music, not just going along with whatever
is *in* with his peers.
