  52. ..i bought DAPsViP today (and just in time for the start of the warm 
  53. weather, too; warm weather + dub == bearable warm weather) and noticed a 
  54. few of the choice samples that appear on Track 2 ("Buffalo", by Dub Trees) 
  55. are from Tino's Breaks Vol 5 - two of the tracks on that very delectable 
  56. album are simply strung-together sequences of stings and snatches from 
  57. various sources. If anyone wants a listen to it in its entirety - and it's 
  58. rather good dub, the rest of the album is - it's on Moresounds. :)

  496. Alright, so he's visiting Hobart of all places to DJ and skipping Perth, 
  497. Adelaide and Sydney completely. Alright. That's one of about two reasons to 
  498. be jealous of Tasmanians, the other being something that Tasmanians keep to 
  499. themselves because i'll be stuffed if i know what it is.

  501. 'Scuse me, i'm just going to have a bloody good sulk about this - Virgin 
  502. Blue's not offering budget flights from Western Australia until later in 
  503. December, and about the only good thing about this tour itinerary is the 
  504. evil feeling i get knowing that Sydney also misses out. (Heehee.) Not that 
  505. it's very much trouble to get to Melbourne from Sydney, but i suppose 
  506. Melbourne is the music capital of the country..
  507.  
  508. Ah well, i probably couldn't afford to go to the gig even if he were 
  509. playing in Perth anyway. I'll just console myself by listening to that 
  510. boffo mix of Assassin from the 1998 BBC Radio 1 session - it's a gem, for 
  511. those of you who haven't heard it: quite aggressive stuff, but awesome in 
  512. execution and the demented SubGenius ranting in the background works the 
  513. mood of the song brilliantly.

  536. with the enormous wealth of musical knowledge on this list, i was wondering
  537. if everyone could compile a master list of essential dub albums (or tracks
  538. if so inclined). I'm thinking this list would hafta be limited to about
  539. 10-15 albums... i'm a college student so my coffers aren't plentiful!

  541. when i say dub, i guess i'd like to see all forms of dub - form the early
  542. 70s to entirely electronic dub and beyond...
  543.  
  544. i know there's a lot of dub out there - i'm mainly a scratch fan, though i
  545. finally purchased king tubby's roots of dub, and have fell in love with
  546. twilight circus since i discovered "them" 2 years ago... and of course
  547. there's smatterings of dub al over the electronic realm...
  548.  
  549. so i guess if everyone makes his own master list, then a real master-master
  550. list could be edited from that...what an amazing list this could be!

  831. full color sleeves, the lables on the vinyl were white
  832. on black. They had no certificate of Orbthenticity in
  833. them though...

  902. Not much of an expert on the traditional stuff. I seem to remember though that someone posted a "recommended list" some months back. You could find it in the ultraworld list archives if you had a couple of days to spare! 
  903. Anyway, I wanted to recommend 4 contemporary dub (?) CD's that I'm playing at the moment;
  904.  
  905. 1) Dub Squad - Dub in Ambient,
  906. 2) Hicksville - Celtic Cross, 
  907. 3) Interior Horizons, &
  908. 4) Liquid dub 7. 
  909. The last 3 are available online (ie, cheap) from "www.Liquidsounddesign.com". Not your tradional dub, but wonderful spacey music. Makes me realise what crap my own mixing efforts are: "Ohh, my god are we ever in Hicksville"!
