Hey there all,
While reading the growing flame war that is erupting over good old Aphex
Twin, I saw a few allusions to the loved/hated mini-album and was wondering
if anyone had some suggestions of non-obscure (can I get this album or is it
OOP or sold only in one store in Bulgaria) music of the same variety. I
personally like the noise creations, glitchy kind of sound that was going on
in Pomme Fritz (We're Pastie to Be Grill You, especially).
The only things I've heard that give me the same kind of feel as Pomme Fritz
(besides portions of some tracks from the same era Orb) are Nobukazu
Takemura and Vert. I've mostly been away from most electronic music for a
while and listening to a lot of 'jam bands', and am looking for some good
recommendations.
It this strays too off topic and people have a problem with it, feel free to
email me off list. Thanks.

mann ive never heard anything i could compare to Pomme Fritz. quite an amazing and unique album(mini). Try FFWD if you havnt heard it. its OOP but easy to get a CDR of, im sure most everyone on this list has a copy or CDR. its from the same year as Pomme Fritz. i Listen to the FFWD album all the time at work, is very soothing and helps me focus and pass the day easier.

Huh. We already established the cocksucking and the going rate for it,
but "super fuckbag." Wow! Did you take 20 minutes to come up with that
one, or did you just ask your mom? What is a "fuckbag?" I guess

They were definately originally on cassette, at least the early ones
were, including this one. You may be right about the mail order though,
as opposed to being giveaways. Memory is a bit sketchy...too many
snowballs back in the day, and I don't mean egg nog and lemonade.
The quality of the CD is very good, although I'm not exactly an
audiophile. There's a cheeky bit of classical music leading into Strange
Quotations, which itself seems to have a bit of The Beloved's The Sun
Rising (at least that's where I know it from) and a woman whispering
"Ecstasy" over it. Leads into a bit of a flamenco stylee, which must be
Suns of Arqa (not familiar with the track-sorry!). Quite short leading
into O.O.B.E.....not a bad little mix all told. The Mixmaster Morris set
is tres chilled and makes me very happy indeed.

It's "Ride of the Valkyries", by Wagner, made famous by the movie

It was the original opening track of the draft ABTU, it was. I like it

ACTUALLY...
what started it was your reading personal insults into his original
message. guy's got a right to express his opinion - you're the one who
took it personally, and called him on it, then got pissed when he was
angry in response. well, what did you expect? he never explicitly said
"anyone who listens to aphex twin these days is stupid" - matter of fact,
there was only 1/2 paragraph on aphex.

if you need to be on something to enjoy a piece of music, then it's a
poorly-written piece of music.
and we won't even get into how insulting it is to imply that someone is so
close-minded that to enjoy music they must eb stoned.

nah thats not it at all. i dont mind his opinions one bit. its the fact he is telling us to stop encouraging a 'dolt' like RDJ as if we are stupid to enjoy and support his music now. he could express his dis like for RDJs later work without insulting people who happen to find it very pleasing.
and i dont NEED to be stoned to enjoy music. i just happen to grow a great appreciation for RDJs later work when i listened during a long LSD experience. news flash all these guys making this music get high too so dont insult me for talking about drugs when people like DR Alex and RDJ are probably taking more drugs then any of us are.

i thought that xenlabs little post about the special olympics might have
stopped this nonsense.
give it a rest before the orb list just becomes like every other list in the
world.

Why should there be weight restrictions on mail sent? It's only three
records? Or are you meaning to the U.S.? Anyway, they phoned me back
yesterday and they had made a mistake, the remaining records should be with
me shortly.

If you have an extra copy of the bob 2, you could probably sell it to Ebay.
I just came back from Japan and Ayumi Hamasaki is HUGE there.
Every 12", every 7", every cd from her is a great success.
Personally, I'll keep my copy, but... :)
Is it me or the bob 1 is to be played at 33, and the bob 2 and bob 3
are to be played at 45 ?
JCFromParis
PS : For those who regret the AFX ambient past, check Nannou, the
third track from the Window Licker EP : brilliant. And the third
short track from the MEN EP is (sort of) ambient. Between SAW II
tracks and Ventolin...Not to be played with headphones, though.
Bjork mentioned in an interview this month on a French newspaper that
she talked with AFX about a collaboration. Could be great...

===>John--I have been trying to get one of *my* email addresses
removed since JANUARY. Since my workplace's domain name
changed, I can no longer send from the prior email address,
although I continue to *receive* messages from it (which is
why I had to resubscribe to the list under a new email account,
and now receive *every* posting twice--flames and all!).
Let me know if you are able to contact Lazlo.

Ayumi Hamasaki is definitely my fav so far,
then SE Berlin
And Autolump last. It is weird that it's hard to work out what speeds these
should be played at!

same thing here. I just stopped using the other address altogether.
as a side note, Yahoo.com offers free POP3 style Mail (as well as web based
interface) for those that might want to switch to another account... anyway.

Actually I can't take credit for the posting - the picture was another
listee's work. I just laughed my ass off in public about it. However, I did
kill-file Tim and let other's know how to do it in Outlook Express, if they
wanted too. Because *that* was my solution to the problem. Tim hasn't been
on here that long and already he's started or escalated 3-4 flame wars ... 2
of which were off-topic. I give the benefit of the doubt to those that are
going to contribute to list in a positive manner at least the majority of
the time.... but Mr. Psudeo-Intellectual has little respect for the opinions
of others and most of his posts are baited hooks waiting to set the list a
blaze again.
at least that's the way I see it.

Hmmm. Why didn't you send this to the list? Don't you want everyone to
know that your acid-dropping "DJ" ass actually belongs to a
narrow-minded, homophobic dipshit who gives in to the urge to postulate
about things he doesn't know about, and who is generally insulting (you
started it- just because I jokingly said I was starting a flame war
doesn't mean you had to jump right in) in a most inane manner?
Just for that, I wish to make it clear that you are forthwith excluded
from my $50 cock-sucking deal. Also, I'm sure your "DJ" sets are about
as coherent and well-executed as your emails.

Hey gentlepeople,
Would someone be generious enough to send me a copy or whatever of the lyrics to Ghostdancing and Plum Island?
For the life o' me I can't climb through the effect plastered voice of Ms. Walsh for the life o' me. Aki is easier to hear I donno why.
thanks ahead of time.(Yes I know if I would have bought the Japanese copy I'd probably already have this...)
2nd topic...koff koff
In my AfterFX class final, I'm thinkin' about making a Ghostdancing music video. If and when I'm done with it and if I deem it worthy, I'll upload it to an FTP so you people can laugh your ass off. (Or cry).
Thirdly, in a couple month old copy of URB, they interview the good Dr. and have a pic of his baby girl. She's real cute and I was wondering if anyone would like to see the worlds first "ambient baby"?
