oh boy, i saw them last week in montr=E9al and they kicked ass, i saw them=

back on the "let us play" tour and i had a great time but with the xen tour=

i just see that they got even better in their art!

first the gear, god damm they have gear, it was a huge table full of box=20
and wires, not to mention the dual laptop (set like 2 turntables) times 2=20
so they have 2 each, plus cameras ans other stuff.

what to expect: remember their timber video? well thats what they did live,=

using their Vjamm software they just played with visual all night, what you=

hear is what you see! and the show was during the montr=E9al festival of new=
=20
media so the place was filled with tv everywhere!! really great. they=20
played old stuff, new stuff, all perfectly cut for great audio/visual=20
pleasure. they are gods!!!

has for the evening it was just too much! first a dj than another, then=20
another with visual (hextatic? i don't know they played 2 days later?) then=
=20
the almighty coldut. but between each one they put ninja tunes different=20
videos, and god knows that they are all great! (not having cable tv, it was=
=20
my first time for most of them, but a friend of mine told me that anyway=20
they dont usually play on tv)

one week earlyer i saw Amon Tobin and it wasn't the same thing at all.=20
first a dj (so so), then pause, then a cdj (even less interesting), pause,=
=20
then laika (sorry but i hate that band, so it was a real pain in the ass),=
=20
pause then Tobin, so it's friday night, it's pretty late, i'm already=20
exhausted and tobin plays a so so sdj set, the sound was good but not the=20
vibe, the visuals were great too. i guess the worst drawback was all=20
evening seing all those instrument in the back of the djs, hoping that=20
Tobin would play some sort of dj+band thing, and finally seeing laika take=
=20
the stage...

old Theater, that is currently under the threat of being torn down and
replaced by yuppie condos. I've seen many great shows there, Including
orbital, and it always a great place to hold large electronic events.

*sigh* I've seen this mistake made on Amazon.com.  ARGH!!  Hallucinogen is
NOT Oakenfold (who couldn't produce anything nearly as fantastic as LSD, or
even remotely credible any more, even to save his life), Hallucinogen is
the rather godlike Simon Posford, also behind Shpongle.  Ladies and gents,

hello, i want to complete my x mix video collection and add some other
tripped out electronic music VHSs. i have most all the x mix VHS. i need
'transmissions from deep space radio' i think its the only one i dont have,

copies of VHS tapes, i dont have the orb P&T or any of that, so theres plenty

just passed another year under my belt this weekend at possum kingdom lake.
brought my 'aubrey mixes' and 'chill out' to take in the un-spoiled amazing
eye candy of 50ft high rocky cliffs hanging over the water. quite a weekend.

    This may the wrong forum (and if it is, I'm sure people will tell
me), but I like joints myself. Bong hits are all good, of course, but you
end up breathing in a lot of lighter fluid which I don't like the taste
of, plus you're much more likely to burn the crap out of yourself. Joints
are easier to pass, easier to carry, taste better (sorry guys, but bong
water tastes like ass, and people rarely change it enuff).

    One thing I like to do is fill my bong entirely with ice, no water
at all, and use it that way. It's WAY smoother than with water and you
don't have to worry about spills. Plus you taste the stuff more.

    But in general I like to stay away from any kind of implement
where resin builds up. Ick!

This is why bong hits taste no good and are really not that efffective.
freezing thc molecules is NOT the way to get high.  warm to hot water
(especially CLEAN warm to hot water) needs to be used in order to get clean
tasting (and more potent) hit from a bong.  warm to hot water will also
filter out any fluid from lighters, etc.  wait a minute, this is the orb
list, right?

I thought since we didn't have any Orb stuff to talk about I'd share some
information on field stripping the Ruger Mark II 22/45.  I hope you all find
this as relevant and useful as I found the previous weed smoking tips.

I have been working with the Ruger Mark II for almost 10 years now and the
most common complaint I have heard about it is that it is tough to field
strip and reassemble. Over the years I have disassembled and reassembled
them enough that I can pretty much do it in my sleep. But I have had people
come into my store more times than I can count with a Ruger Mark II because
they took it apart to clean it and couldn't get it back together. So I
decided to write a short article explaining some of the tricks I've learned
over the years.

The Ruger Mark II, although it may not look that way to a beginner is really
a very simple design. The trick to easily field stripping the Ruger is to
understand the basic operation of the parts you are working with and their
relation to the other parts. So I decided to try and explain this as best I
could, hopefully without confusing you even more. I will use pictures of one
of my Mark II's so you can actually see what I am talking about.


Step 1 Safety First
As always, the first step is to take the magazine out of the gun and to make
sure the chamber is empty. If you don't know what I'm talking about...STOP
THE LESSON. You have no business picking up a gun if you don't know how to
unload it or how to check if it is unloaded and safe. I hate hearing stories
about "accidents" where people get shot or shoot someone else while
"cleaning" their gun.

Step 2 Removing the Mainspring Housing
Use a small screwdriver to pry the mainspring-housing latch outward until it
stops.(pic-1) Next, pull the mainspring housing up toward the top of the
gun. (pic-2) Now pull the mainspring housing down and out of the gun.
(pic-3) Here I show the relation of the mainspring housing to the frame.

Step 4 Removing the Bolt and Receiver
Now you can slide the receiver forward (toward the front of the gun) and
remove it from the frame. If your receiver is tight to the frame, it may be
necessary to use a rubber or rawhide mallet to tap it free. Hold the barrel
and tap the front of the frame and it should come free. Then the bolt simply
slides out the back of the receiver. The bolt can be removed before you
remove the receiver from the frame if you like. (pic-5)

Step 5 Cleaning
This is as far as you need to break down your pistol for cleaning. Now that
you have field stripped your pistol, you are ready to clean it. Be sure to
clean the inside of the receiver and the face of the bolt thoroughly. I use
a dental pick to scrape out the "gunk" inside the receiver, then I use
Q-tips to get the rest out. The chamber should also be cleaned, but the
barrel usually needs very little cleaning. I almost never clean the barrel
on my 22's. I like to use a 22 bore brush in the chamber, but instead of
going back and forth, I twist it clockwise. This method works for me. As far
as the frame goes, I usually use Crud Cutter spray to blast all the loose
dirt out and then lightly oil the moving parts. Once a year or so I'll
completely disassemble the frame and clean each part thoroughly, but this is
a lot more complicated than simple field stripping. Now that your pistol is
clean, your are ready to reassemble it.

Step 7 Before you Start
Before you start to reassemble your pistol, you need to look at a few
things. Look at the mainspring housing (pic-6) There is a slot in the top
with a spring and plunger in it. The hammer strut will be guided into that
slot as you install the mainspring housing. (pic-7) look at pic 7, the
hammer strut is on the bottom of the hammer and moves freely back and forth.
Look at your frame and find the hammer strut, notice its movement as you
tilt the frame back and forth. Notice where the hammer strut is in relation
to the frame, you will need to remember this when reassembling your pistol.

Step 8 Reassemble your Pistol
The first step is to insert the bolt back into the receiver, but before you
do this, rub a light coating of oil over the outside of the bolt. Be sure
the bolt slides in freely and goes in all the way to the face of the barrel.


Step 9 Install Receiver
Now the receiver is ready to be installed onto the frame. Place the receiver
on top of the frame and slide it from front to back onto the frame. Again,
if your frame/receiver fit is tight, you may have to tap the rear of the
frame to get it fully seated.

Step 10 Install the Mainspring housing
This is the part most people have a hard time with. Just be patient and
follow my directions and it will be easy. The first thing to do is the hold
your pistol by the barrel with the barrel facing down. You are holding it
this way so that the hammer strut is resting against the frame of the gun
and is out of the way of the mainspring housing (pic-8) Now guide the
mainspring housing into the frame all the way until you can see the end of
the pin sticking out of the top of the receiver. (pic-9) and (pic-10) Now it
is time to hold the gun so the barrel is pointing at the sky. The reason for
this is that the hammer strut will now be resting against the mainspring
housing so it will slide into the slot when you close the mainspring
housing. (pic-11) The next trick is to place one of your fingers on the
trigger and hold it back all the way, the reason for doing this is that if
the hammer is cocked, the mainspring housing will be forced back out be the
hammer spur as you try to close it. With the trigger depressed, the hammer
will uncock and the mainspring housing will go in freely. Now close the
mainspring housing into the frame and look at it. Does it sit flush with the
frame? If so pull it back out and try again. It should stick out about a
quarter inch that how you can tell if the hammer strut is in the notch on
the mainspring housing and that it has tension on it.(pic-12) Is yours
sticking out a quarter inch? Yes? Very good, you got it on the first try.
Now simply close the mainspring housing latch and your done!!!

Step 11 Final Inspection
Now comes the moment of truth, pull back the bolt. Does it come back all the
way? If it does the gun is assembled correctly. If you try to pull back the
bolt and it only goes back an inch or so, that means that the hammer spur is
not in the slot on the mainspring housing. Don't be discouraged, all you
have to do is open the latch and try to guide it in again. With a little
practice you'll be a pro at it. I also do a routine check of the functioning
of the pistol after its back together. Pull back the bolt so the pistol is
cocked. Now put the safety on and pull the trigger to make sure it works.
Then take the safety off and pull the trigger to make sure it is moving
freely and the hammer releases. One last check I do is to put an empty
magazine into the pistol and pull back the bolt to make sure the bolt stop
moves freely and the bolt locks open. Now you're ready to go to the range
and test out your nice clean pistol. When you get home your pistol will be
dirty again and you can start all over. Remember, practice makes perfect.

Kids, PLEASE do not try to field strip your Ruger while smoking from a bong
filled with ice or cold water! Remember to use warm water to get as high as
possible, then and only then are you ready to field strip your Ruger...

Hello again, to everyone I've lost contact w/ over the past 2 years or
so....had just been too busy w/ work & other things to keep up w/ musical
mailing lists, but I'm back.

Well, I've had some time & am collecting things to sell off for some time.
Am also trying to catch up in all that I've missed over the past 2
years...am only up to Jan. 99 at the moment.  Before I put these up for
auction on eBay, I thought I'd just see if anyone wanted to do a trade for
items I don't have.

Here are the items I have & will auction off (probably Wed., so get back to
me quickly):

The Orb Remix Project "Auntie Aubrey's...." (note the CD's are scratched
from repeated sliding in & out of the fold-out pack. Scratches aren't deep,
but there are a number of them. It plays fine from beginning to end on my CD
player - a Denon (which has rather good tracking).

Roedelius "Global Trotters Project vol. 1" - This is the limited European
remix issue (different from the Japanese version) w/ the 24 min. Orb remix.

I got this song from napster too. It sounds exactly like the Hallucinogen
remix of Killing Joke's Democracy (in style anyway).
I have no doubt that this remix is Hallucinogen and not Paul Oakenfold.
Unless someone did mislabel it and put it back out there.

the album "Lushlife" from Bowery Electric. The best description I can come up
with would be - Portishead Lite. Just a great album. The girl who sings kind

p.s. Any interested in "Art Rock" or "Britt Rock/Pop" should seriously check
this out.. it's out in the U.S. (10/17) on Astralwerks, and has been out for
a few months in the EU (UK Press).  I can't get enough.  I can't stress
Coldplay's new one enough either!  Maybe my tastes are branching even
further from the electronics, or maybe there just isn't enough stuff being
made right now.. I'M HUNGRY!!

i had mentioned him with tangerine dream and vangelis a while back then there
was a few posts about vangelis and tangerine dream but nothing about tomita.
he is Isao Tomita a true sythesizer pioneer with very pleasing material.
check out snowflakes are dancing from 1974 or any of his 70s stufff is all
quite good IMO. actually a bit better then vangelis and tangerine dreams late
70s work (ie 1978 and later). all mine in on vinyl so im not shure what is
even on CD of him. im bet theres some. even if its a best of CD i would get
it he's a japanese genious.

Ahh .tomita... I was raised on this stuff as a kid! Had many of his records.
I really like Bermuda Triangle alot.  And his version of Holsts "the
Planets" was great, his version of mars is still one of the best i've heard,
especially with some of the eeirie spaceship noises at the end, and the
aliend voices commanding thier takeoff.... He really is a genious.

I just looked up on CDNOW, and his CD's are available. Most are in the
classical section, including Planets, and Snowflakes are Dancing.

yeah, no shit.  i realize it was a string version, but i've yet to hear any
sort of orb of the radio with the exception of a public program (echoes).

===>Hrumph!  And to think someone made fun of me last year
when I said I got my headphones finally, and couldn't wait to
listen to my Tomita cds with them!  ;-)

I've got:
- --Snoflakes Are Dancing
- --Pictures At An Exhibition (he got "voice" sounds, long before
  samplers were even invented!  Puts that lame version by
  (gag!) Emerson, Lake, & Palmer to shame....)
- --Firebird Suite
- --Kosmos (my favorite of his...if you skip the "Star Wars" tune)
- --Bermuda Triangle (a close second)
- --Grand Canyon Suite

There *is* a "Best Of" out there...but it's certainly NOT his
best, IMHO.

I don't have Holst's The Planets on cd, just lp.  Everything from
Snoflakes through Kosmos is, as far as I know, available in the
U.S. on cd.  Bermuda Triangle and Grand Canyon Suite are,
to the best of my knowledge, only available in the US as rather
pricey Japanese imports--in the $30 to $40 range (ouch!).  God
bless cd burners....  ;-)
