According to

Cydonia will be released on Feb, 2 2000 in Japan.
Hey, you never know.
Sounds too early (and too good) to be true...

Does anyone where to get the Cydonia in a higher quality MP3 format? I can
only listen to them as low-fi .ra files that skip. I'd like to get a better
listen to them.

Fairly easy to fix. You need to activate your CD-Rom as a recording
device in the software mixer of your soundcard. I have an old SB32 by
Creative Labs and the "Creative Mixer" (that comes with the soundcard
software) has two screens: one that lets you set the output levels for
WAV-audio, CD-audio, MIDI etc and another one that lets you set the
level for incoming signals from various sources. You need to activate
the CD-Rom in this latter menu. This should work, especially if you have
a Soundblaster or compatible card. Funnily, I had the same problem at
first but now everything works fine.
Orb on!
Volker.

Subject: (orb) Orb remix of Gary Numan's "Cars"?
I know we all talked about this long ago, but...
Where can I find a copy of that incredibly cool remix of Gary Numan's
"Cars" that LX and co. did a while back? I heard it once, as part of some
kinda RealAudio show, but I'd like to know if this exists on CD anywhere.
If somebody out there has it, encode that mutha and put it on the server,
willya?
Thanks,
Jeph

the orb did a remix of numan's jo the waitress(called the bon appetit mix)
on a tribute album called random...dave clarke did a remix of cars on that
album....is that what you mean perhaps? i've never heard of the orb doing a
mix of cars....
matt(wouldn't mind the orb remixing the cars....they'd
do an interesting "moving in stereo")

You've got the Sun Electric live album, right? That's definitive ambient
house, IMHO.
Any of Thomas Fehlmann's new material on Apollo fits the bill, too.
All that stuff on Apollo circa the Robert Leiner CD you mention is great
... Tournesol /Kokotsu/, Uzect Plaush /More Beautiful Human Life/ ... 94
was a good year!
Paul Frankland's work as Woob is great.
You might even find Steve Roach's newer work (/Body Electric/ or /Light
Fantastic/) interesting.
If you're not adverse to ethnic vibes, I'd strongly recommend Loop Guru
/Catalogue of Desires/ and /Fountains of Paradise/ discs.
How'm I doin? =)

It's only been used in his live performances, so It quite possibly could
have been mixed live and no actual remix exists.

Subject: (orb) Essential Ambient Albums (non Orb)
Someone wanted to have advices on great ambient albums.
Here's two : Bass Communion 1 and 2.
Bass Communion is Steven Wilson from Porcupine Tree.
Both albums are very minimalists, but are really great.
My favorite track is Drugged Part 2 (24.55) from B C 1, featuring a "seven
second sample of Robert Fripp he looped, transposed, layered, filtered and
processed into infinity." : this track made me cry for a long time...

Subject: (orb) LX dj cd set notes
hi all...
...sorry I'm late on this game, but I noticed a couple things about CD 2 of
the CD set Gavin made:
- - track 7...isn't that the theme from "The Magnificent Seven?" I don't know
if it's also the features theme from bonanza, so this might be irrelevant.
- - also track 7, I believe it transitions into another track, which has all
the marks of a roni size remix.
sorry I couldn't help with any of the *non*-identified stuff!
