  23. ambient, house, etc. should not be considered as off topic as, say,
  24. Akira or Cassini. Personally I have learned a lot about non-Orb music
  25. through this list.

  29. I have found a club that plays house here in Shanghai, but the clientel
  30. is not very sophisticated, so no Orb. :-(

  32. Am returning to US for a visit, and promised to look for house, techno,
  33. drum and base, etc. for the DJ. He only wants hits. Can anyone give
  34. some advice? Thanks.

  61. I think the important thing is not how 'off-topic' a subject is but whether the 
  62. list is swamped by it.  The whole Cassini thing was interesting for the first 
  63. two or three posts before it got out of control and turned into a childish 
  64. argument.  I believe they still make keyboards with delete keys on them, so you 
  65. can always press them if the message doesn't interest you.  This doesn't mean, 
  66. however, that people like to find 350 irrelevant messages in their inbox when 
  67. they get into work in the morning.  I think the spirit should be one of 
  68. moderation rather than censorship.

  272. I emailed spacechildren directly, but have not yet received a response. (As
  273. you can tell by their website, http://www.spacechildren.com , they don't
  274. update things very often.)  I'm here in SF (spacechildren HQ) and haven't
  275. had any luck locating this remix (or any other DHS stuff, for that matter)
  276. I will say that they're a tremendous show, with spectacular video
  277. accompaniment, so catch em if they're ever in your neighbourhood!

  297. this is somewhat off-topic, but probably of interest to most of you...
  298. last night i caught a screening of "Better Living Through Circuitry" which
  299. is a feature of the ResFest Digital Film Festival (http://www.resfest.com)
  300. - - this was a really excellent documentary on the rave scene, which included
  301. some fantastic interview footage of a whole slew of great musicians,
  302. including: Electric Skychurch, Genesis P-orridge from Psychic TV, Moby,
  303. Carl Cox, The Crystal Method, DJ Spooky, Roni Size, Frankie Bones, Heather
  304. Hart, Scanner, DJ Keoki, and many many more...  Live footage included
  305. System 7 (although I was disappointed that there wasn't any interview
  306. footage), and the whole thing contained many a track from FSOL.  it was a
  307. really favorable presentation of raves/warehouse parties as community
  308. rituals, and contained a whole lot of footage of intelligent people saying
  309. intelligent things (along with a few dopes, but that's to be expected) and
  310. having a damn good time.
  311.  
  312. also  playing at Res was Cinema Electronica - a truly impressive array of
  313. techno music videos, all of which were downright inspirational.
  314. (Underworld, Autechre, UNKLE, etc.)  if you're into the visual side of
  315. things, this is not to be missed.

  317. the festival's headed to LA next....  (and no, i'm not getting commission
  318. for my testimonial!)
  319. just thought i'd spread the word about cool stuff going on...

  346. a huge DHS fan myself, I am eagerly awaiting it's release as well.  It'll
  347. be the debut release for Space Children Recordings, which is based out of
  348. San Fransisco I believe.  I can't remember the other remixers on it, but I
  349. do know there'll be one by Meat Beat Manifesto.  That's when/if it ever
  350. comes out of course.
