Subject: (orb) 2cd U.F.Orb mit Blue Room....
Ok...was--or was not--the UFOff compilation released as a double
cd set in the U.S.???
I just called Island Records on Friday, and asked...the guy there
told me it had not been released, and that plans were still
"up in the air"....
Did I miss something? (Wise cracks keep to yourselves!) ;-)
Also, does anyone have a spare copy of Eno's _Music for Films_
or _Apollo_ floating around? Or Mike Oldfield's _Amorok_?
I know these are still in print, but
I'm too broke (or cheap--you decide) to shell out $$$ for a new
copy...and I owe someone big time. I don't have anything too
terribly rare to trade (since these are not too rare), but I have
plenty of other junk.... ;-) Basically, someone did me a VERY
kind favor (burned copies of some out-of-print electronic music
for which I'd been searching for years), and said I didn't have to
repay him...but I insisted, and he said that he was looking
for those three albums
Come to think of it...how bout this: if anyone can get me ALL
THREE (used...or new), I'll part with my 2cd UFOrb with the
Blue Room single.... (Remember, this particular item is out-of-
print...whereas the Eno & Oldfield titles are still available....)
Anyone? Anyone? Or is this a ridiculous offer? ;-)
Later!
Vince

Dude, let off the Pom Fritz or something. I have recently procured a
copy of said UFOff in the wonderful Commonwealth of Assachusetts. So far
as I am aware, we still reside within the confines of the USA. Its
mighty smoove listnin I might add.

Yesterday I made a very, very good purchase. I bought the Fireman CD,
Rushes. I would recommend it highly (wink, wink) to anyone who loves
excellent chill out music that appears heavily, very heavily, influenced
by drugs. One of the best CDs I've bought for ages. Did I mention drugs?
Anyways, from looking on the net it seems that Paul McCartney is the
Fireman, as reported by someone on the list a few months back, and Youth
was involved in some way.
One thing though. On the back of the CD, on the the top right corner
beside the bar code and upside down there is a little symbol in a square
that says above the symbol: bjork. Does anyone on the list know anything
about this little mystery?
Once again, I recommend this CD very highly.
Craig

Skidoo here,
I agree whole heartedly.......I was told on the web
about the second record "Rushes". I bought the first record the day it came
out. The first recording is good. This is f**king amazing record. I just
found it the other day for 6.99 used as a UK promo. It was also sealed just
to gloat a little more. anyway........To bring up the Irreisistable Force
record thread that it was the album the Orb hasn't made in 4 years. I don't
agree that the Orb haven't made a good record in 4 years but I would be so
bold to say that "Rushes" is the best electronica record since
'Orbus'!!!!!!!!! I love this record. The music speaks so well to "me". It
seems so personal for McCartney to make this record right after the death of
the most important woman in his life. This is a record that should be heard.
I filled in for my friends radio show on saturday and played the whole thing.
I hope you find it as well. I can't comment on the Bjork reference. ????????
I have no idea what that's about.
Skidoo 'out'
now on Eggman "First Fruits" great guitar pop from Sice, the lead singer of

don't look at it upside down. look at it right side up, and it says "hydra".
I believe it's either Youth's or Macca's label.

they got 5 copies in, this was the last one. if it was coming out
domestically, they wouldnt have gotten 5 (although it *could* come out
over here - or there for that matter). it was a promo. the mixes on it
are NOT the same as the one on the fluffy little remix (yes - the little
and fluffy are backwards) white label. the white label is *another*
mix. i have not yet timed it. so it looks like there are 4 new mixes
on the 2 disc promo, and 1 new mix on the white label. bringing the
grand total of lfc mixes to (what?) 11? 12 (the old single, the 5 new
mixes, the album version, the live 93 version and the live from dc
version)? whew. anybody with more info, please let me know...

Skidoo here,
Are you asking about the first or the second album?
Well I guess the first.
The first album is called "Strawberries Oceans Ships Forest"
It has 9 tracks and all songs are a different mix of the title
track. It's beaty in places but trance is it's game. Lots of loops and
cycles. What I get from the record is that Mccartney completely recorded the
title track and then had Youth come in and make other 'takes' on the piece.
The other 8 songs are just remixed from the pieces of the title track. Good
record but it's not 'Rushes'. 'Rushes' is so much better than the first
recording. More dynamic!! More atmosphere!!!!! WE LIKE ATMOSPHERE!!!!
Skidoo '23 write back at cha'

Hi Orbies,
I just wanted to say that thanks to the Top Ten list I have been adding to
my collection. I love Rushes. It fits very nicely into the pile of
assorted "weird" music that I listen to.
I also listened to Squarepusher but found it much louder and not so nicely
ambient. I listened to "Music Is Rotted One Note". Is any of their other
stuff more mellow??
I've been having a hard time finding Boards of Canada (kind of ironic I
thought as I'm in Canada :-)), Brainpilot, and Trans4M. Any thoughts??
Andrew
