Just got back. I went to the show to see the fakie and humiliate him. When I arrived there were signs all over saying there was a confirmed fraud. They offered full refunds or 5 bucks back if you went in to see Paul Walker (or something) who they had just "flown in". There was also a faxed release from Orb management at the refund desk- one of which I snagged. It basically explains the fiasco and how LX (the real one) found out about it while eating dinner in London. Too lazy right now to transcribe it- I'll scan it if anyone has a pressing need to see it.

Hmmph. Every time I see Bush's irritating sneer it makes we want to throw up.
The only reason this doofus is President is because so many ignorant fools bought into his whole "clean up the White House" bullshit. While I'm not suggesting Clinton was an angel, the fact that so many people could be duped into voting for Bush just because Clinton got a blow job in the Oval Office is sickening. If any of these idiots would be willing to read a little history, they'd realize that Clinton wasn't the first Prez to screw around - he just had the "luck" of doing it in a time when we can find out anything about anyone, anytime of the day, because the press has a right to. But they all bought into it, or at least just enough of them did, since it was hardly a landslide victory, And don't even get me started about the Florida votes. No, I'm sure nothing crooked went on there, of course not..
I'm not suggesting what Clinton did was "OK", but I'll take his legacy over an underqualified ass who's strings are pulled by oil companies any day.
The good news is that with the change of power in the Senate, Bush will now become a carbon copy of the Prez his father was - frustrated and ultimately inconsequential. Senator Jeffords, you're my hero.
Sorry for the tangeant, I just had to unleash a bit....
Now to get back on topic - anyone from Chicago going to the Area 1 show? I'm still contemplating myself...

I agree with you both on one thing: I don't think that we have the ability to destroy the Earth. Why? I think that once we push the Earth enough, it'll push back and we won't stand a chance.
But does this mean we shouldn't be concerned about what we do to the environment? Doesn't it say a lot for a people who would disregard their environment, or view it as "something we can't ruin so it doesn't matter what we do? We don't have to go overboard with environmentalism but it has to be in the radar screen, folks. And anyone who spouts on about "scientific facts" - wake up, not everything can be justified by science. Science is a tool, not a rule book.

Was just listening to ARM (one of the new tracks) and I recognised squarepushers "Come on my Selector" at about 2:06-2:09. It's slowed up a bit but pretty sure that it's him.

here's another question...i thought these were supposed to be pressed in limited quantities just for the people that pre-ordered them thru the website..if that's the case, what are these doing floating around london? (although i understand some promos were also given away @ orb shows over the past few months)

Does anyone know if a clone would have similar music appreciation and abilities as the original person?
Would a genetic clone Alex produce similar remixes?
Perhaps the only thing to really compare it to is identical twins. Generally do identical twins have similar musical appreciation and talent or is individual interests and experience, the factor.
Anyone know anything about this?
cheers
bill

Anyone catch the track Redworm on the 8-2-1 Groovetech session at around 157:50? I just think this funny cuz it's been around for a while and we had no way of knowing it was him. Kinda makes me wonder how many other songs of his he has played under our ignorant collective nostrils. ª■

good to know that there's another person around here who likes Piper-era PF
(and says so!) - most of the people i talk to who are PF fans are more
enamoured of DSotM (or the Wall) than P@tGoD, but i don't understand that
at all.

while i don't want this to escalate into a flamewar, i can't let this stuff go by..these arguments came up originally with the OAA stuff (which i participated in)...it's possible to find this stuff (i finally got the once more promo 12" i was looking for- among other items)...it's nice to get collectibles; i've spent a lot of money on this crap (ahem, i also just recently got the aubrey mixes)...i don't really see the big deal though- it's not someone else's fault if you buy something as an investment and the price goes down...you should enjoy what you have and stick with that..
in the case of promos- if you buy those LX isn't getting money anyway (i assume, call me an ass if i'm wrong)...so while it's cool to buy promo stuff (which i've done) it's not as if it's making LX poor because you aren't...
i've recently resorted to buying some stuff on ebay i haven't found elsewhere (pomme fritz vinyl, etc)...i love having the record, even though i've had the cd for years- still i recognize buying it on ebay from some guy means LX doesn't get a cent of it...but i enjoy having the item as much as i enjoy listening to the music...
so anyway, the OAA's cool because you can download stuff that otherwise you have to fork over big money for in a secondary market where the only profit goes to whoever originally bought the album in question (not that there's necessarily a problem with that, either). the only problem i see (and a reasonable argument could be made) is with super-recent promo stuff...it might get released as a commercial release at some point..hopefully people on the list that access the various OAA ftp sites can be trusted in times like these- i don't really like the alternative of not getting rare tracks out there (ie, if i hadn't heard the mp3 of the jimmy cauty remix of 'once more' i probably wouldn't have spent weeks searching out the 12" promo so i could get it)...
so yeah, it's cool to buy promos and stuff, but i don't think someone should be criticized for not doing it if they don't feel like spending the time/money searching for it (as in the case of cydonia v2.0).

man you talk about others bitching and whining listen to yourself. normally i would be on your side but i myself looked on ebay for this item and around the net and could not find a copy under $50 including shipping. thats too much, i dont want the CD (or CDR i should say) that bad. i have all the once more promos and have the special edition cydonia. look at my list you can see i spend way too much money on orb shit but i dont have cydonia v.2. this list is for sharing shit which you seem to have a BIG problem with, haha, whats with that caps shit fool.

Could someone please point me to the FTP site, OAA? Also, I saw Orb a couple months back in Denver. Absolutely amazing! Any 2001 boots available, Denver
in particular? Completely off subject, but would any one also know where to find Radiohead bootlegs. I saw them on the 20th at RedRocks and was blown away. Had a spiritual connection of sorts and would love to have this show. Thanks for the spare change.

Just wanted to add a point that might add something to everyones listening experience: Alex's Teatime sessions and Space Orbyssey remix.
It has been argued that HAL,(the main ships computer (2001)) probably had a breakdown because although programmed to support the crew of Discovery, he was forced to hide information about the real reason for the Jupiter mission.

That, and its mission statement contradicted its basic programming
directive not to harm a human being. Computers have a far more
difficult time functioning with contradictions than humans do - though
of course the end result is equally predictable and catastrophic.

Finally the ship was under command of a computer with a psychosis...apparently not a very good combination.
