Actually, there's a history of releasing big systems/games on 9/9. Also, for
some reason the games industry doesn't like to release games during the
summer, when kids are actually home to play them, preferring instead to
release them just as school starts ;-).

They run a lot of DC ads on MTV, along with Sega sponsoring the MTV Music
Video Awards on September 9th. I've seen the ads elsewhere, but mainly on
MTV. Probably the TV you watch is not that of the expected Dreamcast
audience. Also, there have only been two different ads, AFAIK, one which
just says "It's thinking," and the second one which is a female Japanese
thief in a skintight jumpsuit stealing a Dreamcast, after which the
Dreamcast messes with various electronics and gets the theif caught,
following the "It's thinking" slogan. This is the only ad that you can
easily identify as being for the DC, since at the end you zoom in inside the
console and see Sonic and a bunch of other characters cheering and saying
"We got 'em". Hopefully they'll start showing ads with actual gameplay soon.

"According to a report on the appropriately-named fan-run site, Comics 2
Film, Ice Cube is currently slated to co-produce and play the lead role in a
Takoma Entertainment feature film based on Acclaim's comic/video game,
Shadowman. The script, written by Michael Henry Brown (Dead Presidents) and
Paul Aaron (In Too Deep), is said to involve a very different Shadowman from
any of the comic versions, most resembling the most recent incarnation.
Production on the film is expected to begin in January.
Dave Elliot, VP of Development at Takoma Entertainment Group, told C2F that
Acclaim's "other" comic and video game star, Turok, is on his way to the
silver screen... with a little boost from KISS bassist Gene Simmons. The film
is nowhere near production, as no treatment has been written nor have any
deals been signed, though Simmons is said to be discussing the possibility
with New Line Cinema."

I've seen the Dreamcast commercial with the mouth, and the one with the
eyes. I also see a Dreamcast "It's watching, you're losing" Flash

Pre sells are often a very good indication of the interest in the hard core
community. Sega's definately has the attention of these games and they're on
track on doing very well in the coming months as hard core support will help
stabilize a console in its first few months.

Obviously you dont understand. I would definately lean towards a brand
whose previous model was not a flop. I wont just jump into the PSX, but I
would be more willing to buy sony than sega. Get it?

I didn't expect a first generation game to get perfect score.
Soul Calibur = 10,10,10,10
Other great scoring games include Ready 2 rumble and Sonic adventure.

Not very surprising, considering how EGM has been raving about the DC in the
past few issue. Also, Mario and the PSX launch titles were before EGM
revised the rating system to be a tad more lenient.

Do you actually read EGM? I do, and completely agree with what Eddy said. Please
correct me if I'm mistaken, but I seem to recall Eddy as being someone who wasn't
one of the system biased members of the list...he was just telling it like it is.

said they don't expect a long life for the system and expect mediocre

The sega newsgroup was discussing these scores, and were basically
lamblasting the scores or some of the other well known launch games, like
R2R & Air Force Delta. As usual, take them with a grain of salt. Except
Soul Calibur, that is. Have you seen this game? It's awesome. Everytime I
see the movie, it looks even more unbelievable.

Just to be fair, I think the industry have machanisms in place (the hardcore
gaming audience ) who allows new machines to get a beach head. That's always
been the care, on almost every console.
Note that many magazine writers are the hardest core gamers. And as I've said
before, opinionionted they are :-)

Who cares if its more powerful. My PC is more powerful than 6 N64's put
together but it still can't pull off a game as good as Zelda 64. Until
they crack out a few AWESOME games it is nothing.

Subject: [N64] Gaiden Movie
IGN64.com posted a new Zelda Gaiden movie. I must say the stuff shown
weren't too big of a surprise as we've seen snippets of it on the small
movie file nintendo released, as well as the picture. looking at the
the movie however, show's how this title is similar/differnt to Ocarina
of Time.
Theme wise, it is definately much more fantastic than Ocarina, but it
retains the 3-D Zelda feel which really, is something that was just
pioneered last christmas.
In terms of graphics, Quicktimes rarely do a game justice, but it does
look like the graphics and texturing will be a step up from Ocarina.
The intro scene in the forest needs some perspective correction (it
looks like link its floating accross the forest instead of the camera
panning around it) but it is clear that all the stuff after that are
very solid.

would be more willing to buy sony than sega. Get it?"
I understood perfectly, but it's to my tastes to buy the brand which has some
really good and fun games=)

I'm not bias or anything. Yes I'm surprise to see a perfect
score. As a EGM reader since the first few issue, this is like the 6th
perfect score game I've seen out of thousands of games reviewed ever since
the nes. As for Dreamcast being the most powerful
system, every system that just comes out will be the most powerful
ofcoarse. When n64 and psx came out, they were the most powerful also.
Everytime a new system comes out, all magazine tries to hype up the
system. I might be wrong but if I remember correctly, Mario64 did not get
a perfect score. It got 9.5 10 9.5 10
Usually first generation games are not the best, so that's why I'm
surprise to see Soul Calibur being so good. Perfect score in EGM is not
like a perfect score in Next Gen, GamePro.
Games that got perfect score in EGM are:
Monico GP // for genesis I think
Street Fighter 2 // for snes i think. might be SF turbo or champion
Zelda 64
Metal Gear Solid
Soul Calibor
Anyone else remember any games that got perfect score?
