Since IGN64 didn't print my N-Query and gave a personal reply, I'll print it
on this list. Oh yeah, I find Peer to be more honest than Matt, Matt seems to

Actually, it's not strange at all. The issue of NG you received has been
out only a few days (not three weeks) -- and it hasn't even hit the West
coast yet. We had to literally drive to NG's offices and grab a copy
(which, we might add, they had just gotten in that afternoon). Also, please
note that in our story, we gave Next-Generation full credit for the
information.

As someone has already said it will use DVD. It just won't play them.
I find it hard to believe that it won't play audio cd's. Such is Nintendo.
I am losing my faith in Nintendo. It would appear that the Playstation
consoles are the future. Flame on. ^_^

Obviously there is a misunderstanding. They're going to use waffles.
No, what Nintendo is going to use is DVDs. The next gen Nintendo machine will
not play DVD Movies or Audio CDs, and that will bring down the cost of
manufactiong

Like does anybody really need another home CD Player? I have a Yamaha Natural
Sound 5 Disc changer, a Panasonic Portable CD Player, a PlayStation, Saturn,
Jaguar CD, and Turbo Grafx CD. I really don't care if the Dolphin won't play
audio CDs, I think I have enough.

Don't forget your PC, Trey. That play's CD's also.
I wouldn't worry too much about it. If Nintendo can bring out their console
at under $200, compared with the estimated $3-400 for the PSX2, then screw
DVD movies. Let's see what this "convergence" thing has brought us so far..
WebTV, along with LittleKathy's incredibly insightful comments...DIVX ('nuff
said).. oh, and soon your washing machine will be able to send e-mail! (I'm
dead serious, I read it in some PC magazine.)

I wont buy the system that is a couple hundred dollars more for a DVD
player that wont be as good as my top of the line one I already have.
Besides, you can buy the DVD/Cd player extra when it comes out as stated
by Ign64.com. Overall, nice move Nintendo. OH YEAH, and it has also
been confirmed that Sony ALSO isnt quite sure if it will include the DVD
/Cd technology but experts are estimating that if they do it will cost
upwards of $400 american dollars!!! Now I'm not paying that much money,
I'd just stick with my computer.

I'm willing to bet that Sony's PSX2 won't have the ability to play DVD Movies
either, but I think it will still play audio CDs, I mean what's a PlayStation
without a Sound Scope?
Sony probably will release a more expensive model with DVD Movie Playback.
Nintendo did make a smart move, although I don't understand why IGN64 keeps
referring to the Dolphin if it had DVD Movie playback as another 3D0 when a
correlation to the Phillips CD-I is much clearer.

It's a 1994 model, AT&T Brand, Intel 80486DX2-66. Well, it has an overdrive
processor in it now so it runs at 133 MHz. It came with a whopping 4 Megs of
RAM but now it has 20. It came with a 2X CD-ROM but I replaced that with a 2
Gig HD.
I have played Internet multiplayer Deathmatch on a top of the line PC, at the
time it was a Pentium 2 400 with a Voodoo 2 card, and a bunch of other stuff
I forget. I got to play some Quake 2. It was okay. I was forced to use the
ancient control method of the keyboard & mouse which made it somewhat of a
chore to play, I especially liked when the computer crashed.

You're kidding right? Playing an action game on a keyboard is about as fun as
typing a report on a Dual Shock. I'd much prefer Sony's Dual Analog flight
sticks or Sega's Virtual On controller. Or the Saturn 3-D controller.

I'd say you're right on target. Final Fantasy was a bad game. Nowhere nearly
as good as Dragon Warrior.

Fine. Chrono Trigger. Whatever. The specific game is not the point.

Depends on the game. YOU try playing an RTS (MechCommander would
kill you with a hand-held controller) with a regular controller as opposed to
a mouse/keyboard. I do believe that the mouse/keyboard combo is preferred by
most FPS fans. I've tried playing MechWarrior (especially 3) with a
joystick, and it sucked.

I wouldn't hold it against you. Chrono Trigger, while being one of Square's
best games, second only to Xenogears, isn't for everybody. But it's not like
a point and click shooter. Playing with a mouse and keyboard is no fun since
it's nothing like the real thing. The best way to play would be with a
joystick and a light gun on a large screen TV.
