Maybe I do have the Prelude of light, because I did finish the
forest temple already. I am at work when I post to this list, so I
don't have access to my stuff. By the way the warp to the forest
worked, and I was able to get my things back and went right back and
killed the dragon. Thanks to everyone for the help!!!!!

You learn the Prelude of Light from Sheik after you beat the Forest Temple.
So
Russ may have just gotten the Fairy Bow from the Forest Temple and then
decided to beat the Fire Temple first.. Why? I don't know.

Hi all,
I saw on the news this morning that the EA Sports computer game "Tiger
Woods Golf 99" for the Playstation contains a hidden file. Put that CD ROm
in the Playstation and all is normal. But put that CD in a PC, and a
strangely named file will show up. Run that file and you'll get a 20 minue
obscene "South Park" pilot video. The EA sports people are recalling the
game, admitting the file is there, and claiming no knowledge of how it got
there.

TEST DRIVE: OFF-ROAD 2
Test Drive goes off road alright - and ends up smashing into a big ol' tree
The Test Drive series is one of the best-selling and most venerable racing
series on the PC. In an effort to expand the series, Accolade has moved off
the blacktop and into the wilderness. Sounds like a great idea in theory,
but in reality Test Drive: Off Road 2 is a soulless racer that offers
nothing new to the genre...

THE LONGEST JOURNEY
Between the worlds of science and magic there lies a mystery
The game's backgrounds are pre-rendered landscapes done in 2D on your
screen, but the foreground objects, the characters and the items, are done
in 3D, with high polygon-count lead characters. Special effects such as
colored lighting and moving shadows will add to the game's ambience, and
are enabled by the inclusion of support for 3D acceleration. See our
preview for a closer look at this intriguing title.
http://pc.ign.com/previews/10848.html
LAND OF LORE III
Westwood prepares to spin out their next high concept fantasy tale
The game's storyline is pretty compelling stuff. You take on the role of
Copper LeGre, the offspring of Eric LeGre (who is the brother of the king)
and a Dracoid serving maid. Although you have spent you life being reviled
because of your "half-breed" status by the people of the village, the fact
that you have some noble blood has kept you safe from any actual harm...

BEETLE ADVENTURE RACING
IGN64 goes hands-on with EA's VW racer. Get the low-down on the tracks, the

Beetle Adventure Racing takes the exploration and no-holds-barred level
design from games like Banjo-Kazooie and mixes everything with the
true-life physics and super-fast racing action. Imagine it like being able
to jump into your own car and race through Disney World -- without having
to pay if anything breaks...

NOW PLAYING, VOLUME 1
IGN64 editors Peer and Matt discuss what games they are currently playing
across all platforms
Working as editors of a Nintendo 64-oriented videogame website means living
nothing but Nintendo 64 eight hours of the day. And believe it or not, that
also means researching and writing about some games we would prefer not to.

UNJAMMER RAMI TAKES THE STAGE
Sony releases the first official pictures from its Parappa the Rapper
sequel, and we've got 'em
Looking like she just stepped out of one of Tokyo's trendy Harijuku
boutiques, Unjammer Rami is the well-dressed (we imagine that's a G-Shock
watch she's wearing) and rightful successor to the lovable Parappa the
Rapper. The teenage rock star wannabe comes into the spotlight in this
first set of screens from the game, as featured in the latest issue of
Weekly Famitsu. Check out the imagines at

READER REACTION: PLAYSTATION "STEP TWO"
'Please don't stiff us' cry those content to wait for Sony's true
next-generation hardware
Overall reaction to this Monday's unearthing of details on Sony's secret
"stop gap" PlayStation console has been decidedly negative. It's obvious
that a majority of you simply want the company to focus on making sure that
its true next-generation hardware is top-notch, and don't want to be
stiffed by the introduction of new hardware only to be hit with another,
even better system just a matter of months later. We received an
absolutely mammoth response to the story, and what you'll see is a good

VAULT NETWORK
While the first nine months of 1998 were relatively quiet in terms of RPG
releases, it appears that 1999 will be different, with a number of notable
releases likely. One of the first should be Lands of Lore III from
Westwood Studios. Amidst the publicity surrounding other RPGs currently in
development, Lore III has been on the low-key side. The Vault Network's
Jonric recently had the chance to shine some light on it in this interview
with Producer Chris Longpre, a huge fan of
both computer and pen & paper RPGs who is also skilled with a broad sword.

Yeah, but Phillips licenses the technology from Sony. I seriously doubt that
Sony would license their own technology to a competing company.
Also, I heard that the MiniDisc uses compression to fit all that data on a
small disc. That would mean that it is not as viable for a videogame format.

Sony did have a hand in creating the mini-disc, so those companies are
probably paying some type of licensing fees or royalties, which Nintendo
would probably have to do as well. Besides, I think NCL's too 'proud'
to use a medium developed by one of their main competitors.

Also, why would you want to share your profits with a competitor???

But, don't N64 carts use compression as well ? Seems like I remember
reading that Zelda uses compression somewhere.

Of course it uses compression or else there'd be no way to fit that
entire game into that tiny cart.
