And when companies do put a darker theme on a game it usually ends up as crap.
I can think of One example of the top of my head. Okay, I know this isn't
always the case, but there's this One game that could have been great but that
One just sucked. I'm sure I speak for everbody who likes 3-D platformers that
they'd take Banjo-Kazooie over that one game I'm talking about.

of games dont appeal to me they get boring the 10th time i play it.
Zelda is quite possibly one of the main reasons that i and everyone else
i know actually bought a n64. Plz dont email me saying that i suck or
that im stupid because i dont like warzone, you cant change that, Z64 in
my opinion will be a night and day of a difference

I refered to wrestling games with quotation marks to take a cheap shot at
their quality. Usually game developers just recycle the engine, update the
latest fighters, throw in a 4 player mode, and slap together a gimicky
create a player mode. I do not hate fighters. Some fighters like street
fighter and virtua fighter actually offer some depth. All that games like MK
and the latest wrestling game offer are cheesy gore and/or licenses.
Ok so obviously I havn't played either game, but I think something pretty
extreme would have to happen if WWF Warzone was better.

How ironic that the more "mature" gamers will play games like MK4 because of
decapitations, impalements, exploding bodies and other such tasteful
touches, while the "immature" guys are looking past the little kid plots and
the cutesy crap of Banjo Kazooie and being rewarded with some of the best
gameplay since Mario64.

Well if you look at it being "mature" that way then hell the whole
concept of games isn't really "mature" but that's besides the point and
really to care to get into if video games are mature or not and don't
give me a bunch of crap about how I'm stupid since I don't like BK hell
if I want gameplay DMA's Grand Theft Auto would be the place to go not
BK or even Mario 64 just because these 3D platformers break some
barriers they have a long ways to go before they live up to the hype of
being "God's gift to gamers" as it seems some on this list think.

That game is made by RARE??? I can't believe it, I thought it was made
by acclaim. Please prove me if I'm wrong. I thought that Rare made its
first game debut for the SNES. The game is DK country.

No, then YOU get tired of it. If you don't like beat-em-ups, fine,
but don't make stupid generalisations like that. The fact that you
don't enjoy them makes very little difference to the many people
who do.

I can't see how the plot being cute ruins a game. When's the last time any
game (exc. RPGs) had a half decent plot anyway?
By making the plot cute, parents buy the games for their kids and most
self-dependents can see the games true worth. Adult themes simply cut the
target audience.
OK, so this leaves gaps in the market for lesser companies, but who makes
more money?

Well maybe most games don't have plot and that's sad so that's why I buy
fighting games, well Street Fighter, and RPGs. Now if it comes to money
so what but though business wise these childish plots might make money
I'd expect something for the older gamers.

Point taken. I agree, there should more mature-themed games, but I guess
that's why I got a PlayStation =8^). I guess that until game companies DO make
more mature games, I'll just have to play the cute ones. At least some of the
cute ones by Rare and Nintendo actually are good.

A game's storyline usually has little or no impact on the gameplay. What
plot did Chess have? You are a xenophobic King and you must capture the
opposing King? Does scrabble have a plot? Does tennis have a plot? Does golf
have a plot? Why should video games need a plot? Games which rely too heavly
on the story are usually very boring to replay.

Come on man you're making no sense with those statements. Chess and golf
and all the things you mentioned shouldn't have plots because they are
there own distinct games done in real life. But video games are much
different. See maybe video games shouldn't have a plot that's a way to
look at it but a wrong way. See each game should have a plot not the
whole genre. Now if your not playing games for the story at least
somewhat then your truely limiting yourself from the experience that is
video gaming. So I'm not going to argue with you if you like BK for the
gameplay but I say hell to all the games that aren't making me want to
get involved while I play if you dont then so be it.

Christ sakes could this please stop. I mean nobody has played either
game hell they might both suck. I mean Warzone could disapoint and be
more fighting than wrestling and Zelda could be a too short and a rehash
of older Zelda games. I mean Warzone is a multiplayer game and Zelda
RPG.

Well you've been missing a lot ;) the only Zelda that I thought didn't
live up to the standards was Zelda II but even then it was still good.

Actually some people have played the games (at E3) and their reaction
was that Zelda was the best game of all time. And no, since this is a
N64 mailing list, we will talk about what we want there is no restraint
on what type of N64 topics we can select.
