I would wait for Banjo Kazooie myself, considering it is a Rare game, and
they haven't dissappointed me lately. Second of all, I have heard that even
though Q64 is the first RPG, it isn't that good. Like I said, that's just
my opinion. But, I'm not buying either one. I getting WWF Warzone, and FF7
for PC. :)

I played Quake 2 a little bit and imediantly thought doom. the only good

I'm fairly new to the list so maybe you guys have talked about this
before. However, this really needs to be said. I just think it is an
absolute crime to go through Goldeneye on one of the easier skill levels
(no offense intended to Russ Lapenna). I'm not saying that a person can't
beat the occasional level at Agent or Secret Agent when the game just gets
too frustrating. I'm talking about going through the entire game,
learning most of the secrets, feeling the rush, on one of the lower skill
levels. I started off at OO agent and kept going through the entire game,
and when I finally did beat it, I knew that I had really accomplished
something.
The boys at Rare did such a good job, it seems a shame to not work
through the game the way it should be worked through. If you aren't
challenging yourself to an admittedly difficult game then why play at all.
I really think the player loses something if they don't beat it at the
higher level. This isn't Doom or Quake where changing the skill level
only changes the damage or number of monsters. In GE, you have more tasks
to do, greater challenges, etc. Besides, if you want to really see
everything you have to beat it on OO. I know the game is hard, but
people, you owe it to yourselves to to do it the right way.
Aaron Field,
who is amazed that after beating the game and getting all the cheats
months ago, that it is still fun just picking it up and playing a level

I wouldn't buy Quest 64 I haven't heard one good review for it yet. It's
almost a better investment to buy a PSX RPG and taking it to a friend's
house. Quest isn't very long either.

How come slangs alright then does that mean I can say its all a load of
Hollyhock?
Publishing is distribution and cash gathering, publishers either buy the
rights to a finished game and then sell it and get all the cash or they
pay for the game to be developed and retain all the rights

Speak for yourself, pal. I, for one, am going to refrain from reading
any more reviews/previews/whatever about Banjo Kazooie until it comes
out so as not to spoil the game. I don't do this with every game, but do
it with some movies, too (avoid watching commercials, etc.). Do you
think the game designer is sitting there assuming that you know
everything about the game and how to execute all the moves before you
even sit down to play it, or that you'll go through a "discovery"
process? Seems like an easy answer to me...

buy

The best thing to do would be to wait until they come out and rent them once
to see if you like them. Don't let other people tell you if a game is good
or not.
But in my opinion, RPGs are only fun if they take a long time to beat, N64
hasn't made any games that are big enough (big worlds, lots of levels) yet,
as was showed us with Mystical Ninja, an okay game that you could beat by
renting it once.
Decide for yourself what games you want to buy, especially if you don't have
much cash

I think a bit of hype and seeing a couple of shots is good, especially with
N64s chronic release delay syndrome. It gives us some hope that the game is
actually coming along. But it's dumb when you have so many screen shots you
can put them together and make an hour long movie. They should just put out
maybe 2 or 3 every couple of months.

In the case with the N64 the publisher, Acclaim for example, buys the carts,
prints the boxes, instuctions, game labels, and so on. They're in charge of
the distribution, to a certain extent anyway 'cos Nintendo has a role in that
too. The publisher forkes over the money so the developer can make the game. I
don't think Iguana would be able to make N64 games without Acclaim's money, or
anybody else's money for that matter.

The publisher is the larger company with all the money. They give money
and resources to the smaller development team. They also set a date for the
products finish and release, and they do all the marketing and stuff for the
title. ID software is a developer yet Activision published Quake II. The
developers usually deserver more credit than they get but the Publishers are
an important part. Oh, and there might be a Co-publisher or Distributor
involved in the Gaming business model...

That's probably what many PlayStation owners thought when they first saw the

Umm, nope. There aren't four switch positions on the Rumble Pak. I believe
there is a Force Pak (Mad Catz) that has what is the equivilant to four cheap
memory cards (you know ... those third party cards that lose your valueable
saved info?) built in. Did you happen to but Star Fox 64 used?

True, but still it's Nintendo who decide what goes on their system and
what doesn't.

How would you know?? the game isn't even out yet ANYWHERE! There are no
reviews for since its not out, only previews. I don't know where you get your
info but anyways. And please this is a N64 list, don't give advice that
someone should go play a PSX game of any genre. I am sick and tired of it.
Well anyways just my thoughts.

I think that magazines have already been sent review copies of it, so it
wouldn't be unusual to have the reviews appear before the game hits
retail shelves. But since the game isn't out yet for public consumption,
I suggest that you play a PSX game of any genre in the meantime.

Nintendo never thought about bringing the RPG players back to N64. If
they did, they would have bribe Square or Enix to make an rpg for them.
and they would have made an rpg game themselves.
Earthbound and MarioRPG2 are for little kids imo, but i'll still play them.
Even if Quest64 is a sucky rpg game, Nintendo can't just say NO, we won't
accept this game for N64.
As for reviews of Quest64, EGM gave a review on the game. Not a preview.
They gave a rating and wrote a few paragraphs on how bad the game is.
If you don't trust their rating, that's ok. I beleive in EGM and they
aren't really bias against any system.
