  151. I just noticed that Sega Dreamcast's Conexant modem, probably the same
  152. model that will arrive with the GameCube doesn't make that squealing
  153. sound when it is connecting.  I am not very knowledgable in this field
  154. so can someone tell me why?

  175. information going through the modem into audible sound. Webtv actually makes
  176. the sound come out through the tv speakers if you turn that option on. The
  177. modem I had before I got cable had a speaker on it that made that sound.
  178. Maybe Sega will include the option to turn that sound on. I wouldn't know
  179. though.

Well, seeing as how there is not on single game worthy of $300+ at this point in the PS2's life, buy Majora's Mask. By the time anything decent hits the PS2, the price will have dropped and you will have enjoyed Zelda. Unless you really wanna watch DVD movies without a remote, in which case you could buy a cheap DVD player for under $250, and then throw the remote away.

  882. The argument for ps2's dvd capabilities has been weakening for quite some time.
  883. DVD format has taken off in the past year so I think the advantage related to
  884. movie playback capability for a console, as for as the north american market is
  885. concerned, is a small one.

  888. Dreamcast being able to access the internet.  Most people don't buy a DC to surf
  889. the web, because the majority of those who needs/wants to surf the web already
  890. have a pc to do it on.

  1023. The difference between the N64 and the PS2 is that N64 sold on games (Mario 64)
  1024. and on the Nintendo brand.. after all Nintendo has just come off a nice bounce
  1025. on the Super Nintendo's big years of 94/95

  1027. Sony is selling on the PlayStation brand alone.  It could be argued that TTT and
  1028. GT2000 are the games that are selling the PS2, but using that logic, it could be
  1029. said Wave Race 64 and Pilotwings 64 sold the N64.  I think we agree there is no
  1030. game of Mario 64 calibre on the PS2 line-up.

  1032. That said, it remains to be seen whether selling a console on Brand alone is
  1033. more risky than selling a console on both Brand and a Branded Game.  That's open
  1034. to discussion and I don't have an opinion on that per se.    In a perfect world
  1035. where we don't consider factors such as third party support, it would seem that
  1036. selling a console on both brand and games would be the clear winner, but then
  1037. again, considering the n64 had such a tough time getting software, the lack of
  1038. viariety and third party support counts as a factor against the console.
  1039. Conversely, Sony has no major branded games that is generating buzz, but it has
  1040. a strong brand name.  And using the third party criteria, it is clear the amount
  1041. of games doesn't work against the console.
