IGN, Nintendo.com, everywhere. They all have pics of it. The DVDs are
custom made for Nintendo's machine, making them smaller than regular DVDs.
They hold 1.5 GBs while PS2's DVDs hold 4.7. This doesn't seem to be
something Nintendo has to really worry about, though, since, as IGN said,
developers have no reason to use all that space. Plus, these DVDs give info
a lot faster than regular DVDs. One thing's for certain: Nintendo has one
h*ll of a powerful machine. They will do fine in the next generation.

Take a look at the DVD caddy on the Game Cube
http://www.tendobox.com/media/stock/spaceworld/disk.jpg
the small 8cm 1.5 gig disk is used as a demo. but there certainly looks like
there is enough room for future larger DVDs. The question is, will it read
them, and i think Nintendo isn't narrow minded enough to shut off that
possiblity. After all, it was Nintendo was likes to hype the size of their
game's ROM sizes almost as much as they hype any other aspect of the game.

Check out Nintendo's specs page, and at the very bottom you'll see notes
on ports.
Controller Port x4
Digicard Slot x2
Analog AV Output x1
Digital AV Output x1
High-Speed Serial Port x2
High-speed Parallel Port x1
Now, I was worried Ninteod might go off in their own tangent and design
ports only nintendo products can use. But with 2 serial ports, 1
parallell port, not to mention the AV ports, that opens up the
possibilities to a lot of stuff, wouldn't you say?

A few point for discussion here....
Nintendo Shares Hit After Games Unveiled
TOKYO (Reuters) - Just one day after a
much-touted debut of
its newest and most advanced game
devices, Japanese video-game
maker Nintendo had its shares pounded in
the market amid concerns
it won't be able to deliver them soon
enough.
Nintendo shares slipped 3.3 percent on
Friday to 18,060 yen,
as investors used the later-than-expected
release dates for its
next generation Gamecube and hand-held
Gameboy Advance as an
excuse to lock in profits after its price
hit a five-month
intraday high of 20,210 yen last week.
The stock has outperformed Tokyo's
broader Nikkei index over
the last year.
On the year, Nintendo is up 2.7 percent.
By comparison, the
broad benchmark Nikkei 225 index is down
5.3 percent from a year
earlier, closing at 16,911.33 on Friday.
Some analysts say Gamecube's last-place
entry in the red-hot
market for newer video games could hurt
Nintendo's place among
competitors. Friday's share losses have
extended its slide to 10
percent since Monday.
Nintendo, a pioneer that almost
single-handedly created the home
video-game market, slipped behind in
releasing next-generation
games, losing share to Sony Corp., which
introduced its
PlayStation2 on March 4, and Sega
Enterprises Ltd.'s, whose
Dreamcast hit stores late last year.
Only in July of next year will game
players be able to get
their hands on the Internet-enabled
128-bit Gamecube console that
boasts a zippy 405 megahertz IBM Corp
microprocessor.
Gamecube's U.S. debut will come three
months later in October
2001.
Nintendo's 32-bit Gameboy Advance, a
hand-held game console
that can be linked to Internet via cell
phone, will be released in
Japan next March and sold overseas from
the following July.
OPTIMISM
But other analysts, like
Mitsuko Morita at Morgan Stanley Dean
Witter, placed a lofty 23,760 yen price
target on Nintendo shares,
arguing that its new game console will be
able to co-exist with
Sony's Playstation2 because of its
emphasis on providing a fun
gaming experience rather than technology.
Her target, which implies a
price-earnings ratio of 40 times,
was raised from an original 17,000.
As for its portable -- even pocketable --
Gameboy series,
analysts see little chance of a rival
upsetting its 90 percent
grip on the hand-held market in Japan. In
the United States and
Europe, the Gameboy series commands an
overwhelming 99 percent
market share, thanks to the huge
popularity of its Pokemon game.
In the U.S. market, an intense battle for
market share on the home
video-game consoles is likely to unfold
when Microsoft launches
its X-box game device next year.
Although analysts said the technology
inside Nintendo's new game
consoles was likely to give it an edge
against its competitors,
the late debut would also mean delays in
the release of new
software titles that are the lifeblood of
the video-game industry.
``It is not clear if Nintendo can come up
with any
highly-innovative games (software) for
the new console to fight
back at Sony Corp's PlayStation2, which
will have a wide lead in
sales by the time of Gamecube launch,''
said Takashi Oya, senior
analyst at Deutsche Securities.
Oya said that, despite its smaller size
and likely lower price
tag, the Gamecube would not be able to
shake Sony's domination of
the market.
``It's not good enough for us to raise
the investment rating
for the company,'' he said.
