its boring, the game is boring. pressing one buttom to perform tasks and using
the same amount of brain power to cut through the pages and pages of text is a
chore. this is the chattiest Final Fantasy yet, and tried too hard to be a
melodrama and turns out more like those morning soap operas with low production
value and corny plot lines.
> A lot of people really loved the game. Like I said, you just don't like the

Those "a lot" of people obviously have too much time to spend on their hands,
haven't played a game like earlier RPGs for them to know how good an RPG can be
(without being bogged down with insulting dialogue and the repetition of battle
animations that bogs down the game beyond belief) or they are so fanatical that
they refuse to accept final fantasy 8 is too much flash not enough content. Oh
and believe me, i love the cinemas, but Square should have made it into a ps
movie and i'd be content to buy and watch the thing while playing some mini
games on the side.
Note than from 1997 to 1999, there doesn't seem to be more people wanting Final
Fantasy, despite Playstation's installed base have expanded considerably and
Final Fantasy 7 had 2 years to build up a fan base through rentals, accidental
purchases and what not. The same "new FF fan" from FF 7 are returing to FF 8,
few new people are entering to check out the game, and many who bought FF 7
didn't bother with FF 8 at all, my friend is one of them. damn, i should have
heeded my friend's advice and bought harvest moon 64 instead, then at least i
could do something fun, even if its not stuffed with computer generated cinema
sequences of the farmer milking his cows.

Uhhh....what? I still don't see Spyro in any ads other than for the games
themselves? I see a lot of ads for games. What do you mean faked? Why
does the fact that Spyro has TV ads mean it is faked? I don't have any
sales stats for Spyro...maybe you could produce some that show it is an
unpopular game.

The reviews for Crash have been decidely mediocre. That is why you can't claim
it to be anything more than a solid platformer.
> Your bias gets worse
> weekly.
No. its the truth. My bias "gets worse" when I trash Crash even though
Next-Generation calls it the game of the new century.... then you'd know i've
gone insane. I'd like to expose crash for what he is, a rip off composite
character based on Mario, Sonic and some other stuff. he's crap passing off as
"solid game" by borrowing from other games, and the painful part is he borrows
so directly and obviously. Crash is really just a painfully obvious attempt by
Sony to have some face to put in front of their corporate logo. I'm not sure
why you're trying to defend a corporation's attempt to corrupt and destroy the
gaming public's process of having some say in how mascots and company icons
are chosen. i'd respect Mr. Bandicoot more if he was actually successful and
wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Trust me, when he outlives
his use, he would either be relegated to minor roles or dropped all together
and no one will remember him 12 months after that happens. The power of Sony's
marketing ladies and gentlemen.

Ummm... right. So Sony Corporation is not an empire? And its not evil? Let
me tell you one thing. A whole lot of gamers would rather see Sega or Nintendo
ruling the industry. They don't want companies like Sony trying to screw the
game industry when they can and run away like a bunch of scared little school
girls when the times are tough. Look what happened when the big
multi-national, multi-media corporations meddled with Atari's market. Oh, I'd
suggest you read Capcom's comments on Sony in FGN0nline's Dec 21, or Dec 22
update. I didn't bother posting it because i thought it'd be wrong trying to
policitize it, but now that you brought it up, i want to show you i'm not
alone. even the industry is beginning to question sony.

TV ads? what are you talking about? Like Crash Crapticoot, that purple dragon
has been chosen as a franchise before it even proved itself in the market. like
crash, a franchise was planned for it before the firsr game went out the door.
that's faking it. because traditionally, game franchises mean the game is
successful, it is a mark of a mascot's success, like driving a BMW down the
road. The difference of course is that while Spyro might have his BMW, this
time, his parents had to buy if for him, he probably deson't know which way is
up if left to his own vices.

Lets just say we both enjoy the FF series but disagree on the merits of its
latest installment. like how Star Wars fans may disagree on the merits of The
Phantom Menace.

Depends on whatyou consider mediocre now doesn't it? From IGN: Crash 1:
7.5...Crash 2: 8.5...Crash 3: 9.1
Hardly mediocre IMO (I'd say mediocre would be 5 or 6). Pretty good
reviews.
Have I ever tried to claim it was anything other than solid? No you say?
Good, glad you agree. It is a good series. Period.

Why does a game have to be game of the century to not get trashed? Oh yeah,
I forgot, only PSX games have to be games of the century to not get bashed
by you. Your biased. I'll say it again...read the reviews (I posted some
above for your convenience). You 'truth' has a decided slant.

Sheeesh...how lame can you get Dex??? A whole lot of gamers like Sony and
what they have done for the industry and are eagerly awaiting Sony's next
system. Vieo games were largely seen as geeky and childish before the
PSX...Sony has managed to help push videogames more into mainstream
acceptance. Also, what do you see Sony running from? I'll tell you one
thing, it aint Nintendo.

Ok...I just read t and I don't see any big deal. All they said is that they
are not sure Sony should go for the jack-of-all trades approach and they are
worried about the potential cost. So uhhh, what is the big deal. I also
noticed he had comments about Nintendo:
As for Dolphin, Nintendo's highly secret console
project, Gardner thinks more information should
be
provided to developers to garner significant
third-party support. The console is scheduled to
launch worldwide in fall 2000, and Gardner says,
"From our perspective, we've got to be a little
skeptical on [a Dolphin launch] next September,
because unless some information comes quick, we
won't have a product ready for them."
Basically, they were just making known their views about all the next-gen
systems....and they were condemning none (though you seem to condemn Sony as
of late). So, I don't see your point.

Frankly I don't remember any of the old Sonic commercials now, but I do

Capcom didn't speak against Sony, then said what everyone already knew, the
PS2 will be hard to develop for. Big fat hairy deal.
The most evil thing I can think of is all those Pokemon games but no Super

Oh? Since when is a "solid platformer" a bad thing? Wouldn't you (DEXTER SY)
call DK64 a "solid platformer"?

I'd rather see no freaking body ruling the industry. After what I witnessed
firsthand with Atari I know that anybody in a constant state of rulership is
a bad thing. So in other words a whole lot of gamers are fools.
It wasn't always Nintendo and it won't always be Nintendo.
