Technically that's all I have for the N64 is oldies. Well, the newest being
Zelda: OoT, Nov 1998. As for Crusin, I didn't like the N64 version. The two
player mode's framerate was so slow. It was a letdown for sure since the
32-Bit coin-op had been my favorite game of 1994 or was it 1995?

Subject: [N64] IGN64 about 64DD
The latest issue of Famitsu Weekly reports that the 64DD will be
available for purchase at local Japanese game stores. The stand alone
unit (without a Nintendo 64) will retail for approximately 30000 yen (or
$290 US), while the N64/64DD bundle can be purchased for 39600 yen
($384). The deal reportedly takes effect beginning December 17.
$290 for a 64DD? What does a Dreamcast cost in Japan again? Like around $160?
Nintendo needs to try harder than that. Unless the 64DD comes with a ton of
software, but when does any console come with software in Japan?

With Dreamcast out for a much cheaper price than that, no1 is gonna buy that.
Dreamcast+some games or 64DD... the 64DD is only an addon and is not really
comparable to a console. Heck, no 64DD for U.S. anyway, so it doesn't matter
to me. I don't know what Nintendo is thinking...

Game Boy Overtakes PlayStation
Having been the dominant figure in software sales in Japan, the
PlayStation was recently overtaken for overall market share by
Nintendo's Gameboy portable game console. For 11/29-12/5, the Gameboy
held 41.3% of the software sales in Japan, while the PlayStation came in
second with 38.3%. The sales of Pokemon Gold/Silver are the main reason
for the changing of the guard.

Nintendo is targeting the 64DD as a niche console. they don't have a lot to
loose. :)

it. If that were true, you could just stick figures with the same

Good character design helps of course, but the problem is, you have characters
that are designed to sell a game , nothing more.

But aren't all elements of a game designed to help them sell? Good
graphics? Yeah. Good story? Yeah. Good gameplay? Yeah. Good character

I believe that the 64DD is supposed to include a modem cartridge, a
Randnet disk which lets users to connect to a network, and the first 6 64DD
games. I don't know if Nintendo changed whats supposed to be in the DD

Top Seven Nintendo 64 Games of the Year:
Number Two...
Mario Golf
Nintendo had a banner year in 1999. All of their
first-party games have been serious hits, scoring high
marks with the critics and earning them fat bottom
lines with the fans. When choosing the top seven, I
knew that number two would be a mascot game; there
were so many greats this year that featured
the Nintendo cast, from Mario Party to Super Smash
Bros., that they couldnÆt be ignored. While both
titles were truly exceptional, I want to single out
and heap a little extra praise on a game that is
maddeningly fun, terribly addictive, and actually
turns out to be the most boffo sports game on the
Nintendo 64, period.
Mario Golf is probably the best digital duffer to
ever grace a console. Based on the winning Hot Shots
Golf, a solid hit on the PlayStation, Camelot has
crafted the most complete links package available,
featuring everything from your basic afternoon on
the green to a furious mini-golf match that will have
you cursing a blue streak. While itÆs fun to waste
a few hours trying to chip a shot through rings
hanging in the sky, Mario Golf's bread and butter
are the main links matches, where you must
compete on a series of perfectly-designed courses
to open up new characters like Bowser and Yoshi.
The feel of the game is just so right, from the
swing lineup method to the gameÆs overall ôfairness;ö
you know when you miss the birdie that there's only
one person to blame: yourself.
Now, some people might be turned off by the
presentation. Brightly-colored Nintendo characters and
other cutesy Miyamoto touches, putting on courses
overlooked by mountains with beady eyeballs,
doesnÆt necessarily scream to the older crowd, but
would you rather play a weaker golf game like
Waialae Country Club: True Golf Classics just for
the sake of ôrealism?ö Let go of the pretense and
enjoy the finest duffer youÆll ever play, and you
might catch yourself smiling in spite of yourself when
you make that perfect shot and itÆs trailed by a
rainbow (only a Grinch frowns at rainbows, pal). And if
you're a fan of the patented Nintendo look, youÆll
be happier than a GameFan staffer on payday when
Yoshi bounces around after a hole-in-one.
How did I know instantly that Mario Golf was going
to be a runaway smash? Well, IÆm not the worldÆs
biggest golfer (actually, I think theyÆre a waste
of spaceù-we should turn most courses into national
parks), and I generally dislike video golf even
more. However, as soon as I got into the groove, I was
hooked. If a game can turn the head of one of the
genreÆs leading opponents, then it must be doing
something right. Do yourself a favor and check out
Mario Golf. If weÆre lucky, weÆll have a sequel
alongside our Dolphins next year.

Sell as in "yea, i've heard this is a good game, its
addictive/fun/challenging/"
or sell as in "I want to f--- that girl in the game"
I have an objection towards the latter as the games tend to be shallow,
derivative, and are made merely to make money. Tomb Raider 2 to 4 are prime
examples. A whole lot of hot air, butts and breasts, not enough gameplay to
keep the Tomb Raider franchise fresh. I'm glad TR IV got blasted by the
media, (except for the playstation magazines--of course) they ought to have
done that with III.

I think I heard that it comes with Doshin and one other. Still, if that's
the case, they should've named it Preview Price Plan for PS2. I didn't think
it would sell well in Japan anyway, but now it seems hopeless.

I can agree with that. Afterall, i'd rather see the industry doing well than
the industry doing poorly, but yes, a games like this could turn the game
industry into the comic book industry, where all women have big breasts and
tight butt and pseudo pronographical works are sold as the bulk of the content.
The comic industry has suffered dearly because of this. it stopped evolving
decades ago, that is why other forms of entertainment such as music and
videogame overtook it and now, the industry has shriveled into a tiny shell.
Would you like the videogame industry to become the next comic book industry in
20 years? You know, there was a time when Comics was an up and coming form of
entertainment. Next-Generation's article, "How Games will Take over the world"
opens by discussing the failure of the comic book paradigm...

What issue of Next Generation was that in? I used to read comic books, then I
realized something. These stories suck. Although what really made me stop was
when Marvel killed Iron Man. Although by strange coincidence that was about
the same time I lost my job so it all worked out. Ahhh
