they'll cheat and scam people to get their passwords so they'll get more
valuable(or not as valuable) items that can be sold for more Neopoints. It's
a huge online game. It's not a java game, it's web based(there are web based
games in it though, you play these to earn neopoints). Anywho, signup with my

But what I'm really trying to say, is that if neopets can get this far, and
Pokemon is bigger than neopets, just imagine how some people will be like in
online pokemon.

I don't think it'll be delayed, but I'm wondering the same thing. Nintendo
needs to promote this thing like crazy if they want to take over the market
again. I still haven't seen anything suggesting preorders in EB yet, either.

Yeah, Microsoft can go fuck themselves. They should be happy anyone wants to
dump $300 into their unsupported black hole of a console. No way in HELL
would I EVER spend more than $300 on a console without picking and choosing
exactly what accessories and games I get. I hope that the $400-$500 packages
are the norm, and that NO ONE buys MS's overpriced piece of shit.

Hey, they posted my horrible review of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back on

out in 10 minutes before I passed out in front of the computer last night. If
you look at the author's handles, I think you can guess which one is mine ;)

Nintendo would probably make it a 64-Bit. People would see it say "32-bit"
and they'd be like "I'm sure the N64 is 64-bit, that one's better". Or
perhaps the GCN is 128-bit.

I hope they bring out sonic the Hedgehog All-Stars, a game similar to The
Sonic game that appeared on the Saturn that featured many sonic games. this
game will have all the Sonic Games that appeared on the Master System/Game
Gear, Genesis, Sega CD, Saturn(Um, Sonic R...) and the Dreamcast with the
exception of Sonic Adventure 2.
Here's to hoping for that:)

OK, d/led the realtime Metroid footage. Know what game came to mind? Turok.
Specifically, Turok 2. Very dark (to hide shitty art, no doubt), and lots of
"pretty explosions" that will get old the second time you see it. I slowed it
down and went frame by frame and there was a brief bit where Samus didn't
shoot anything and was looking around an area with fire and smoke on the
walls. Kinda cool. God dammit, they better show more of this game in the next
few days.
Oh, and $35 for a controller? FUCK that shit, man. If the Japs get 'em for
about $22, then dammit, I want them for no more than $25.

Just a quick question, why is Nintendo "showcasing" the GBC/GCN link with 2
games (Animal Forrest and Kirby) that no one is going to buy?

The following was originally meant for the forums at PlanetGameCube.com but I never received my conformation e-mail from their forum providers. I do still think it applies here as well, though. Enjoy.
Let me start with the following: despite words to the contrary, Nintendo
knows what it's doing...
Having surfed the web looking for responses to the news from Spaceworld 2001
one thing has become clear: the internet unanimously is disgusted with
Nintendo's plans. Many people on the net have bashed Miyamoto's new brain
child, "The Legend of Zelda"; fan sites of competing consoles have taken this
opportunity to do some serious laughing; and even Nintendo fan sites have
begun to post editorials about Nintendo's mistakes these last few days
[Nintendojo].
But seriously folks: where has the media massively misconstrued the meaning
of "The Nintendo Difference?" I figured that someone had to step in and set
things straight because the majority of posters are currently to angry to
care to take the time to post long messages and the people in charge of
websites are too busy cleaning up server problems and actually posting the
news. So here goes, item by item:
(Note - * denotes a reason NOT, ** denotes a reason FOR)
1. Nintendo's Launch Delay
Personally I couldn't believe the words on the screen. I figured that PGC
was playing a horribly mean trick on its readers or had misinterpreted
something along the way. My heart sank (as I'm sure most of yours did) and I
fell into a sort of videogame depression... two more long weeks.
I pondered over the issue for hours... lost some sleep over the issue...
until finally it dawned on me:
* Nintendo didn't delay the system to prepare the new color in adequate
quantities. That would have been silly as most people will probably prefer a
black system to the indigo anyways which would cause some to go unsold (read:
for a little while ;-).
* Nintendo didn't delay the system to prepare more titles for launch. We
already know that Luigi's Mansion and Wave Race are 100% done and Pikmin and
SSB:M are 90% done. Nintendo has enough first party titles to be solid.
* Nintendo didn't delay the system to find a separate week from Microsoft.
This could prove harmful even, not helpful.
** Nintendo DID delay the system to sell through ALL 700,000 systems in one
week!! Think about it: what's the busiest shopping weekend in the year in
America? Thanksgiving Weekend! Nintendo pushed back the release date to let
Microsofts system sell out [ingenious]. With that threat out of the way
Nintendo has the whole weekend to itself. This is when the average families
parents will see a PS2 for $300, perhaps an XBOX here and there for $300+,
and a Nintendo GAMECUBE for $200! Which is the average person going to pick
up? (Remember the average person would not post on this site so none of you
qualify as an average person ;-). The GAMECUBE will be the quickest selling
item this holiday season. Pure marketing Genius.
2. The movement of launch titles
* Nintendo did NOT delay the games to piss you off ;-)
** Nintendo DID delay the games (namely SSB:M) to give parents and those who
will play the system from the get-go something to look forward to. Think
about it: what would an average gamer do if they got SSB:M and say Wave Race
at launch... they would see the other Nintendo games as unnecessary purchases
and wait for the newer stuff [some of which, like Star Fox, have been delayed
for more polishing time]. Nintendo learned from the launch of the GBA and
PS2: too many titles too soon = less money on the mass market for each
development company per title.
** Nintendo DID delay the games to make room for some of its other titles
(Pikmin, Wave Race, Luigi's Mansion). They are a business and they do need
to make money on something in which the invested. In this case QUALITY games
that may seem more to be niche titles [though perhaps they are...].
3. "The Legend of Zelda"
* Miyamoto did not change "The Legend of Zelda" to piss you off ;-)
* Miyamoto did not change "The Legend of Zelda" to keep the kiddie image.
** Miyamoto DID change "The Legend of Zelda" to take the series into a new
direction (a yet unproven one at that).
** Miyamoto DID change "The Legend of Zelda" because he felt what was
happening was more of the same (close to the previous reason but not quite).
***************************************
Where did everyone lose faith? This is my question to everyone of the
readers and indeed to every Nintendo Fanboy... When was the last time you
were displeased with something made by Nintendo? [Don't give 'kiddie' as a
reason... even the first Pokemon was fun, whether you bought all the
accessories or not, the game was fun].
NINTENDO WILL NOT RELEASE A GAME IT BELIEVES TO BE OF LOW QUALITY. I am very
positive that if "The Legend of Zelda" turns into nothing more than an
interactive childrens cartoon, EAD will not release it.
Why am I so positive? Because ever since Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo
Entertainment System I have believed in one thing: The Nintendo Quality
Standard.
How do I know the Nintendo Quality Standard hasn't wavered? Majora's Mask
was even better than Ocarina of Time (in terms of side-quests, etc.); Billy
has stated that Wave Race: Blue Storm is vastly IMPROVED over the E3 version:
that's three months of pure polishing... what other company will give you
that?; and finally Metroid was heald back from Spaceworld 2001: Nintendo felt
it wasn't up to standards and therefore didn't release more than six seconds
of gameplay footage.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
In closing I would like everyone to take a deep breath and calm down. "The
Legend of Zelda" will probably offer so many new gameplay features and so
much style that we will all be so immersed in the game that we wouldn't be
able to imagine it any other way... Trust Nintendo on this one: if you've
liked what they've done so far, you'll probably like what they're doing now.
Have faith.

From Software is bringing Rune in December, and advertising it heavily here
for some reason already despite the fact that the game is only 30% complete;
it plays pretty well. And I believe they're bringing another RPG in March
2002 or around there; Nintendo is promising Zelda before the end of 2002. But
really, if all you guys want are RPGs, go get a PS2. Then you can play your
annual FF and whatever else recycled fodder Square wants to dish out in
between. I think it should be fairly obvious by now that, at least for the
moment, the majority of RPGs will be heading to the PS2.

Subject: Re: [NG] Why Super Monkey Ball moved from "Don't care" to "Must have"
Date: 30 Aug 2001 02:12:11 EDT
I fell in love with Monkey Ball since E3; even a bit before. After playing the multiplayer at Spaceworld with the rest of the staff, we're all pumped now.
Best game of the show if you ask me. I even managed to nab this wicked Monkey Ball poster there; and even Gongon is on there=) Anyway, the game looks wicked and I heartily recommend everyone give it a shot before you just pass it off. It really is more fun than you think it is; especially since it has such variety in level design, multiplayer (it has 3 modes there), and it's mini-games which go from golf, to bowling, to, my favorite, billiards.
Oh, and get your importing fingers ready because Puyo Puyo on the GBA is excellent; even Columns is shaping up. But I digress; once we get the site up I'll rant over yonder.
Rock on Sega!
